Recovering from that, Shun nodded quietly as she asked if he was alright. That was just a slip up, nothing really something to worry about. Though, when Mitsu got on and out of the pool to get something that could help, he watched curiously. However, when she pulled out a pair of floaties, he just stared at her.
He'll take drowning.
Without saying anything, he took in a deep breath and tried again, only to find himself sinking and flailing once more before standing.

The floaties were ignored.
sad
Mitsu waited patiently as Shun tried again but when he flailed and sank Mitsu moved in. As soon as Shun resurfaced he would find the dubbit floaties presented to him in a 'its dangerous to go alone take this' kind of way.

Shun stared at the floaties again. No. He refused. With a grimace, he went to try once more.
And again, he just sank pretty much immediately.

It was destined to be an on going dance between the two. The floaties were once again ignored but Mitsu hadn't given up on the idea of using them. Instead she waited for Shun to try again, perhaps the motivation of not using them would help. Or perhaps not.
As the reaper surfaced again he would once again find the dubbit floaties held out to him, a reassuring smile on Mitsu's face was she waited for him to take them. "They won't keep you from going under but they will help you sink slower and will help you right yourself if you get out of sync and start to flail." It was almost a business tone as she tried to sell him the idea of using them.

And once more, Shun stared at the offering, not really looking like he was willing to take them just yet.
"Only children use these."
His pride might have been getting in the way a bit. And so he tried once more. And again he just sank.

As Shun surfaced again he would find the floaties in front of him like an offering.
"Scarelings and wise adults who accept aid when needed," Mitsu said looking at him pointedly.

"I'm receiving aid from you are I not?" Shun retorted.
He sank again.

If Mitsu could have mustered the ability the floaties would have had radiant majesty lines by now as she held them up to Shun once again.
"You are and this is what I suggest might help for the time being. This is how I can help you until you get a handle on things." Mitsu retorted back.

Shun grimaced once more and moved his hair out of his face again, shaking his head at the floaties still.
"If I'm able to learn at all, I should be able to do it without the aid of additional objects," he said.

"There is no shame in using the floaties." Mitsu said firmly. "Its only to help you in the beginning. Like training wheels. And you can learn." She insisted. "You can't keep thinking such doubtful things. If you think that way you've already given up...and that's not you." Mitsu said softly.

"I never used training wheels either. I just fell until I got it done right," Shun noted before looking at her quietly. No, it wasn't like him to simply just give up. But when it came to this very specific activity, he just...
Well. He really didn't know what was with it. It wasn't fear. He really didn't know what it was.
"I don't really know what to tell you. When I'm submerged, my body doesn't want to move right. It's like I'm weighed down or something."

"Sometimes that method doesn't always work. My father threw me into the pool in hopes that I would learn to swim quickly. Thankfully I did but my brother nearly drowned from the same experience. Or so I was told. A different approach can be a good thing."
She listened as he explained what happened during his attempts at swimming. Frowning she gave the issue some thought. "It could really be you are holding yourself back mentally. At least that seems the most likely cause. Physically you should be strong enough to sustain yourself swimming fairly easily." Mitsu noted.
"Just try to stay positive and realize its not impossible." Mitsu encouraged gently. "Now, let's try again." And with that she held out the dubbit floaties.

"Yes. That was the method used on me prior. I drowned each time," Shun said, not sounding too bothered by this fact. When she noted where the potential problem could be, he frowned.
"How could that be? Aside from failing to swim over and over again I do not see what could be holding me back like that," he frowned. Letting out a sigh, he stared at the dubbit floaties, with his gaze lingering there a little longer. Was he actually considering taking them?
Not really. He just tried to do the back stroke again, this time sort of kicking himself back harder to try and propel him. Fail. He got up and tried again. Sank. He got up and tried once more. THUD.
With him keeping on pushing himself back.. he ended up hitting the edge of the pool.
And sank.

"I...don't know," Mitsu said softly.
For a moment it seemed like he was considering the floaties but when he turned away from them once again Mitsu only watched as he continued to try. "Shun...I think...you're getting a little close-" THUD. And he sank.
Scrambling Mitsu dove to retrieve him, wrapping her arms around his middle to bring him to the surface and to the edge of the pool so he could catch his breath. "Are you okay?" She asked checking his head for injuries.

Shun sputtered out the water as he was brought back to the surface. He was a little dazed since he had bumped his head a little hard there. With a groan, his eye came into focus and he stared at Mitsu before slowly standing on his own in the water.
"Yeah... I think so," he murmured before gingerly rubbing the back of his head. There was no blood. So that was a good sign. He might have a little bump there soon though.
