Wilson nodded to Jordan as he arrived. “Hey.” He smiled at Cass. “No problem. I’m always glad to help another person out.” He turned to focus on Bree while he listened to Cass clue the three of them in. Her last word caught his attention. That was rather flat. Wilson crossed his arms as he pondered this. Did Cass not like ghosts? Wait. There must be a memory of this in his head somewhere…

“I see. Okay then.” He gave Dakota a look before he turned away. Dakota would always be Dakota, after all.

Jordan listened to Cass's explanation, nodding. "Nice to meet you," he said to Bree.

Cass looked slightly unsettled; the change of tone in her voice suggested that it was the ghosts she was concerned about. Did she have problems with ghosts? Well, if she did, she had backup.

"Don't rely on what you've experienced too much," Aria cautioned. "There are as many different kinds of ghosts as there are cats or dogs. Some will start off with the basic tricks, then completely blindside you with something different. While it's good to be familiar, don't be expecting it." In the other chair, Bree seemed to shift uncomfortably. Then her fingers began to tap faster as the hunter seemed to take on a sudden interest on what was on the screen.

The Mist Division leader looked down at the paperwork in front of her, then she picked up the pen. The motion was stopped half-way as she looked up again, one eyebrow raised. Cass was still here? Did she dismi- what was she doing. "Cass?" She inquired, "What are you..." she trailed off as the first of the other trainees came in. Then another. And another. And another over the course of several minutes.

Instead of speaking, Aria took the opportunity to study the trainees that came in. She had seen them before though she had only spoken to one personally. And even then that wasn't exactly a conversation. The division leader carefully put her pen down and took a deep breath, fighting against her initial urge.

"Not quiet." The division leader gestured towards Bree. "According to Bree here, there are a couple houses with noted paranormal activity. Under normal circumstances, we would send in an experienced small team to check it out and clear anything out. The circumstances of these places are rather... unique."

Aria paused, studying the assembled hunters in front of her again. They would do. She hoped. "The area is in the middle of the suburbs. Monsters prefer the less populated areas towards the edge where no one is around. These have taken residence up in the middle of one." Aria gestured to the folder that was in front of Cass. "Study the map, if you will. There are four sites in all. All of you are going to take one house. Bree and a few others will cover the other houses. Your's is site Indigo Alarm."

If anyone picked up the folder they would have found a map of the neighborhood, site "Indigo Alarm" circled in purple. "Standard American suburbia neighborhood complete with white picket fences. A majority of the houses nearby have families in them. With you lot..." Aria gestured towards Bree.

The other hunter put her tablet away, flashing the intermediates a grin. "We get to be hooligans. Let's take Aria for instance. What would you do if you saw her slinkin' around your backyard?" Bree paused, looking at Aria and considering. "Personally? I'd either ignore her to start to wonder what the hell she was doing there in the first place. Then possibly call the cops. In neighborhoods like this, you have no idea how snoopy and nosy neighbors are. Some sit at their windows clenching their phones with nine and one dialed, just so they could be first to report something and have bragging rights."

Bree twirled her hand in a circle, the gesture aimless. "Now, let's take a look at me. Dark hair, neon highlights? You know what's going to happen? Get off my lawn damnit!" Bree sat up a little straighter, pointing towards Jordan. "You've got it right, though your color's lookin' a bit faded there. And you -- you have a gasmask, right?" Wilson had her attention now. "While those are worn in raves, I'd advise against it. The more you lot look like a bunch of teens throwing a party in an abandoned house, the easier it is to use that excuse when your fighting against Halloween causes a ruckus."

"And given the location," Aria chimed in, "Chances are you might attract attention. Try to take care of things quickly and quietly. If things get too hot, pull out. All of you are more use to Deus Ex alive than dead."

Cass nodded as Aria cautioned her line of thinking. Of course, it would have been ill-advised for her to assume everything was cut and paste like it had been before. She was right, she needed to stop thinking that way. She needed to uncondition and recondition herself in so many different ways. God, maybe she should have just... gone back to her room and let Aria find someone else better suited to this.

Because clearly she wasn't the best choice for this.

However, she said nothing about that. Instead, she flipped open the folder to look at the information inside, tracing her fingers over the outlines of the map as if using that to commit it to memory. As she did that, her other finger traced the map on her leg in mirror. "That's definitely unusual." she agreed. However, as Aria went on the explain the kind of mentality they were going to be investigating, she found herself grateful for the rundown. She hadn't lived in any sort of neighborhood for eleven years.

She...didn't have that standard of comparison going for her, and part of her wondered again if this was a job for her.

"Going in this late at night will definitely help with cover, though.." she muttered to herself, and once she'd finished looking over the folder she made sure to hand it back over her shoulder to the little group she had assembled to be her company.

"So instead of blending in, we're looking like we're up to something," Jordan said thoughtfully. The trick would be to look unusual enough to fill the role, while not looking alarming enough to get the cops called on them immediately. A couple of minor alterations in attitude would help immensely.

He shrugged out of his coat and tied the sleeves around his waist, flipped one side of his bangs over his face, and let himself slouch into a posture that spoke of boredom and laziness, sticking his hands in his pockets. "Haven't had a chance to redo the red, the last couple of months we've had," he said, one corner of his mouth turning up in a smile.

He leaned over slightly to peer over Cass’ shoulder and glance at the marked sites. Wilson couldn’t stop himself from cracking an amused smile at the description of the neighborhood. Sounded a bit like home. His gaze lingered on the map for a little more before he directed his attention toward Bree. Ahhhh, nosy neighbors. How he did not miss you so. He straightened up a bit when Bree turned toward him. There was a huff from Gramps, but Wilson grinned and nodded his head. “Got it.”

“Man. When’s the last time I went to a party in an abandoned house?” he mused quietly as he began to follow Jordan and take off his tattered coat. He zipped up his hoodie and rolled up the sleeves. Then he pulled up the hood, tugging it over his eyes. “Quietly and quickly? I can do that.” He was actually better off alive than dead? Wow. Caelius, why couldn’t you be more like that?

Dakota stretched as he looked over the map as well, choosing not to say anything more as Aria and Bree debriefed them and gave them an idea of just what they were doing.

Ha, Partying like hooligans.

"Not hard for me to do...." He too grinned, tucking his hands in his pockets and bumping shoulders with Jordan...."We going to go shake the neighborhood?" He peered at Cass, "Your the Boss woman Cass, Lead us right Babe..."

HAUNTED HOUSE YAAAAAAAAAAAAY :'DDD

"Right," Aria agreed with Jordan, nodding towards him. "Sometimes the best place to hide is right out in the open. It's the best route to take, since I highly doubt any of you have any experience sneaking around. Actual sneaking, mind," she added. "Don't loiter around for too long, either. The last thing I need to hear is how all of you managed to land in the slammer."

Bree stood up, taking a moment to dust imaginary dirt off of her skirt. "Yeah, yeah. You're not going to let that go, are you?"

"Nope."

The dreadlocked Mist hunter rolled her eyes and gestured for the trainees to follow her, leading the way out of the Mist leader's office with a lazy wave. "Come on, hope you guys are ready and loaded up on coffee. It'll probably be a long night."

The other side of the portal took them to yet another place in the world well into the middle of the night. There were a few other hunters present, each checking and re-checking their weapons and runic equipment. "Right," Bree began briskly as she pointed them towards the door. "You guys take off first. Don't bother sulking around, just wander down the street and take the first left, then..."

Bree waved to them as they took off, following her directions. The only signs of life they saw from the slumbering houses was the occasional swish of a curtain before a light snapped off, giving away the fact that someone was snooping from a window.

There wasn't anyone or anything in the windows of Indigo Alarm. The house seemed to have been abandoned for awhile, the sides dirty with a discolored sagging porch that some animal or another probably lived under. The door opened easily beneath their hands, the floorboards creaking softly beneath their feet. It was dark inside, however the light from the streetlamps outside was bright enough to illuminate the debris and trash left behind by others.

It's quiet. Hush, even. There are several rooms that the hunters can go towards: an open room to the left, a smaller room to the right that is darker, forward to another room in the back, or up the stairs to the upper level.

Cass ruffled her hair and shrugged. She wasn't exactly an experienced hooligan, so she'd have to..eh.... try a little harder, she guessed. But it seemed like she'd picked the right group for this. If she'd asked Jerry to come along, well...

he would have made... a...very poor....hooligan. Just the mental image of his attempt made her imagine more of an awkward escaped prisoner from the white-collar crime block than a hooligan.

Still, she'd have to take a few minutes to work on her hooligan-look as she lead the way after Bree, continuing to ruffle her hair as she did so and shifting how she wore her jacket. Overall, her 'clean' appearance was still somewhat suspicious as it was. Not something most people would wear from day to day, after all.

It seemed their destination was as adorable and quaint as she'd expected it to begin with. Or rather, it was 'quaint' and it kind of made her feel sick for some reason. She was waiting for people wearing suspicious hats and coats to suddenly start doing construction on everything.

Where did you get the red sign...?

"Just over down yonder then? Thanks, Bree." Cass nodded to the older and more experienced hunter before she moved to start heading down the way they'd been instructed, still retracing that map in the palm of her hand as she looked around. A few lingering night-owls to watch them. Somehow she wasn't surprised.

The house itself, however, caused Cass to slow her pace ever so slightly, frowning - a look that grew darker and more bothered the closer they got to it. Possibly haunted, possibly haunted, possibly haunted..... Haunted House! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

She looked back to the boys for a moment before she looked back into the house and stepped inside of it, wincing at the groan underneath her feet. The shadows didn't bother her as much as they once had, but her entire demeanor seemed to have become entirely unsettled the more steps in she took.

It was more apparent to the boys than it would have been to Cass that she looked uncomfortable in that environment. But she still looked between the rooms. Four open doorways, four of them..... Nope, she wasn't going to let them split up.

She crossed her arms before looking to her 'team'. "As easy as it would be to split up, I'm going to suggest we at least stay with one other person, for the sake of a buddy system." she suggested.

Wilson shoved his hands into his hoodie’s pockets while he followed Cass and Bree. Beneath his hood he saw one of the house lights switch off. He cracked an amused grin before he looked away and toward the house they were going to be investigating. There was no recognition from Wilson as Cass’ pace slowed just a bit. Only a habitual tug on the goggles dangling around his neck. The creaks beneath his feet were familiar, but not welcomed. He frowned and tried to lighten his steps to soften the sound. Wilson had thought Cass to be acting cautious at first, but the deeper they went into the house the more he began to rethink his observation.

A buddy system? He could work with that. A nervous gaze toward a certain moon trainee. His brows furrowed and there was a bit of distress on his face, so Wilson tugged at his hood to cover his face even more. “How about Dakota and Jordan search together? If you encounter something, as sun and moon you’ll be able to work together pretty well. Then that would leave Cass and me.”

As the team began to discuss their options, the house... did nothing. It did not creak nor groan encouragingly. The only thing that seemed to happen was that a car drove by outside.

Jordan grinned in the direction of the nosy neighbor, but didn't give any further indication that he'd noticed. They were supposed to be sneaking, after all. Middle-class neighborhood; a good number of the inhabitants would be mind-crushingly bored at any point in time. The haunted house was probably the site of teenage parties and dares frequently.

The house itself was a fairly standard abandoned house. The boards creaked under their feet, and the streetlights cast enough illumination to see, once their eyes had begun to adjust. Cass suggested a buddy system, and Wilson chimed in with his suggestion. Jordan nodded. "I can work with that," he agreed.

"I can do that too." Cass agreed. "Maybe I'll osmose the ability to do some Death-like-sneaking from proximity. Otherwise, I'll Moon or Sun or..moon or sun....."

Cass was a very poor Life, sadly. She wanted to play with their fun gadgets, y'know?

"Buddy system sounds nice." Dakota frowned as he looked at Wilson. Yeah, still not talking to you bro. Looking over at Jordan instead, he nodded.

"Got it, I got you covered bro. Eclipse team go." Dakota moved to let Jordan take the lead. "next time I'll try to get the pretty lady instead." He winked at Cass.

"Alright then. Our 'buddies' are set." Cass nodded. "Now, we should pick who is going where." she suggested, but she didn't seem like she was too sure about just..barging into anywhere. Still, they had a few directions to pick from.

"Either way, I don't care what happens, don't split up with your partner, alright? Not even for a minute or thirty seconds or a potty break or anything." It was really hard to take little Cass seriously when she called it a potty break. It was like she was in kindergarten.

"Now, you guys can pick first if you want. Unless you have somewhere you're just jonesing to snoop?" she added, looking to Wilson.
