"It was perfect to me." Came the soft reply. Since he was her only link to the desert, anything he spoke of was perfect to her. But his next question surprised her slightly.
"If you'll let me." There wasn't anywhere else she needed, or wanted, to be. "I'd be glad to." She leaned against him, nudging his shoulder. Sands tilted her head at him. "Why are you looking away?"

“Oh…” If anything he looked even more embarrassed, but he was also smiling, glad that he had help show her some of the desert. Even if the swamp held them until death, those stories and dreams would give some relief.
He glanced back at her, emboldened by the nudge. “I don’t spend much time with others. I dream of loneliness as well as the desert.” He shook his head and gave a soft self-deprecating chuckle. “Asking for someone’s company is new to me. I was afraid you would say no.”

"Well, perhaps in time you will dream of companionship." She said firmly. Sands had longed for someone who could share her love of the desert, but the kin she knew, they were content with the swamp. Nomad was more of a kindred spirit. No, she wouldn't jump to that conclusion just yet.
"Well, for a story teller such as yourself, how could I say no?" She would gladly spend as much time with the male as she could, before they part ways.

“… perhaps.” He responded with a small smile. Friendship was a new and exciting concept. He hoped, when the day was through, he could call her that. She understood already, more than anyone, what drove him.
“I would not dare take the title of storyteller.” Nomad stood smoothly, stretching out his muscles. “May we walk?” He could no longer remain in the same spot and his throat was parched.

"Well, you wove that tale well enough." She watched him stand and slowly rose herself, shaking her neck and a shiver rippled down her spine. But she wasn't going to press the issue of what to call Nomad.
"Shall we go to the desert?" Her voice was light and teasing, knowing neither of them would actually make it that far. "Walking does sound nice though." She was unaware of the male's thirst, but figured walking would be good.

“Yes, lets.” Nomad chuckled softly; if only they could walk off to the desert together. The buck began moving, a slow and easy pace. He kept comfortingly close to Sand’s side, while never touching.
“I thought perhaps I might travel to the ocean shore. There at least, is sand… and it will give my hooves something to do.”

Sand... She looked at him and felt... Yes, the next best thing is the beach. She hadn't yet ventured there. It would be good to experience sand in any way shape or form.
Distant Sands hopped over a small stream. She didn't actually know where they were heading, so she turned to look at him, brushing through some low hanging moss from one of the trees. As she did, it jarred a small bug free, plopping right onto Sand's head, though she didn't notice at first.

They reached the stream and Nomad stopped, reaching out to nudge her gently before she walked too far ahead. “Just a moment…” He was about to dip his head to drink, when he realized a bug had dropped right onto the does head.
“There is a beetle on your head.” He informed her with a smile. “Shall I get it off?”

She glanced up, noting the moss. It brushed against her head like something moving. Was Nomad trying to play a joke on her? She wasn't inclined to believe him. But what if it was an excuse to be closer?
Watching him as he paused to drink, she thought of his offer. "... alright." If there truly was a be-
Something was running down her beck and she let out a faint, unlady like shriek of a giggle.

“Don’t panic.” Nomad almost pleaded as he stepped forward. Not that her shriek seemed panicky, but you never knew with does. Well, he never knew. He spotted the beetle as is skittered along her back and he crowded in close, leaning in to try flicking it away with his nose.

She did her best to hold still. But the bug crawling over her was making it really hard not to move! When the little critter saw the buck coming in, it scampered up her neck and ran to her horn, perching there and fluttering two legs at the buck as if scolding him. Sands shivered and looked at Nomad. She couldn't feel the bug, and...
He was really close.

Nomad made a soft sound of frustration as the bug eluded him, escaping up Sand’s neck. He barely noticed their proximity, intent on removing the silly insect. “I’ll have it off in just a moment…” He mumbled as he pressed his side against hers, making it easier to reach where the bug was perched. “Shoo.”

The little bug just waggled it's front legs at him. Shoo indeed! If bugs could talk, surely the little grey beetle was scolding him. "Ah, Nomad..." She said softly, averting her eyes slightly. "It's... alright. As long as it isn't tickling." She wanted to step away, but felt self conscious and couldn't. Instead, she tipped her head closer towards the nearest tree, hoping the bug would leave.
The bug had no intention of leaving though. "How far to... the beach?"

“Yes, oh, ah… my apologies!” Realizing how badly he was invading Sand’s personal space, he stumbled back a few steps. Nomad looked anywhere but at her, staring instead at a nearby tree. The bug had won… for now.
“Far.” He answered. “Very far.” Nomad’s head turned, looking off into the distance as if he could see all the way to the ocean. “It is a hard trek across inhospitable land. But we could make it.”
