Well, i'm all fired up and ready to go, so let's make this happen! Thanks Lav and Darks, both of you have offered great ideas and have really shaped up this RP. There's not much to do right now. i'll have a profile skeleton up soon, so everyone will be able to send me their profiles. Just as a heads up, we're going to need humans and spirits. Humans will include Non-benders, Energybenders, and Elemental Benders. If you want a power other than those, consider playing a spirit - They, of course, can have all kinds of crazy powers (Please don't get to crazy though - No God Moding). The main conflict is Spirits vs. Humans. Energybenders are humans, of course, but they're trying to maintain balance, so they kinda side with the spirits or are neutral. Right now i'm thinking we'll start before the Avatar, as the war is really kicking off. i'll play the World Spirit until it's time to create the First Avatar at which point i'll select one of the human characters for the Spirit to appear to and bond with to become the Avatar. The character will sill belong to whomever was playing it and will still have the same personality, except in the Avatar State which at this point will be the World Spirit taking over. So how does that sound to everybody? i'm still taking suggestions and feedback, so if you've (dis)like anything, please say so! ^_^

i'll have a profile thread up soon. In the meantime i'd like to make a note as to the civilization of the world i had in mind. The first people to have learned firebending from the dragons are the Sun Warriors (Pictured below). Their Aztec/Mayan Theme fits well with how much earlier this is than The Last Airbender, so basing your characters off ancient/primitive cultures like Aztecs, Aborigines, Polynesians, and etc is encouraged. However Asian themes are still fitting, and since current energybending civilization will ultimately be replaced by the Four Nations by the end of the RP, there's nothing wrong with characters looking more contemporary with The Last Airbender, if you want them too. One last important note is that there will be no advanced bending forms in this RP, since it takes place at a time when people are just learning to bend the elements and techniques like bloodbending and metalbending are shown being invented in Airbender. i'm also going to say no Lightning, because it also seems like something people would take time to figure out.

There was that, thank you for reminding me. So the first earthbenders should be form around Omashu, and be based off Chinese culture. Oma could be the leader of the earthbenders after ending their war and raising their great city. That's one of several ways to work it into the RP. Alternatively, we could tell the story of the war itself as a side story, but i'm imagining this story taking place around the second generation of benders, when bending is really catching on and becoming a major force in the world.

I'm a little confused about all the time periods/cultures influencing the benders. I was looking up the ages of the avatars and found something that could help? I'm not sure. Here is the link What I thought might be useful: " At some point, following a civil unrest, the Water Tribe – which was originally centered around the North Pole – splits into two groups: one stayed at the North Pole, while the other group went out to settle the South Pole. Relations with their sister tribe were later healed, and the two tribes would gather together at annual New Moon celebrations. At some later point, a larger group of waterbenders from the Southern Tribe, who were wandering through the Earth Kingdom, discovered the Foggy Swamp and, comfortable with the large amount of water there, decided to stay, forming the Foggy Swamp Tribe. The Southern Water Tribe never learned of this offshoot and the Foggy Swamp tribe itself forgot its own origins. The original firebenders, the Sun Warriors, gradually fade into obscurity as their civilization declines, leaving many ruins across their island archipelago. The Sun Warriors are believed to have gone extinct, though in reality a handful hiding in the ruins would continue their culture for centuries. The art of firebending, however, was passed on to the other inhabitants of the islands. These would gradually coalesce into the "Fire Nation".[7] Originally the Fire Nation was a spiritual people ruled by Fire Sages, much as the Air Nomads were led by their monks. Over time, however, one sage rose to prominence above the others, ruling the Fire Nation as a sovereign, and the office became hereditary, beginning the line of Fire Lords. The vast Earth Kingdom is gradually united under the political authority of the city-state of Ba Sing Se. The King of Ba Sing Se becomes Earth King, overlord of all of the smaller kingdoms within the Earth Kingdom, some of which retain their own hereditary lordship. Avatar Yangchen of the Air Nomads is born in the Western Air Temple, after the death of her predecessor. Her reign as Avatar is a peaceful one, due to her fierce dedication to keeping balance and serving the world. She eventually dies. Avatar Kuruk of the Water Tribe is born in the Northern Water Tribe. Avatar Kuruk tries to kill Koh, the Face Stealer, as revenge for stealing the face of his wife Ummi. This event is confusing to place chronologically, as if Koh's description of the event is taken literally, it would have happened c. 800-700 BSC, over three hundred years before Kuruk's death.[5] Because Kyoshi was the oldest known Avatar at two hundred thirty years of age at death, it is possible that Koh's sense of timing is off, or that time runs differently in the Spirit World."
Part you already know: People bend the energy within themselves rather than the four elements.[2] Tui and La assume mortal forms as Koi fish.[5] The four elemental bending arts are discovered, and the people split into four nations, divided by the elements. The Air Nomads learn airbending from the flying bison,[7] the Fire Nation learns firebending from the dragons, Oma and Shu become the first earthbenders, learning the bending art from badgermoles, and the Water Tribes learn waterbending by observing the pull of the moon on the ocean tides.[8]
Also, will there be anything relating to Guru Pathik with his spiritual elements, like the chakras?
Bleh, I'm rambling. I'm sorry.

There's certainly no need to apologize for rambling. i really like what you've found there. ^_^ It definitely helps give a sense of direction for the plot.
i'm not to concerned with what cultures characters in the RP are based on. I mostly brought that up to keep people from getting "Avatar = Asian" stuck in their minds. Since part of the Avatar world's history involves the uniting of the Four Nations, there must have been more scattered cultures before. So i've had in mind there are hundreds of smaller clans that unite as elemental bending spreads. Whatever ancient culture you want your character to be based on is fine. If someone has a waterbender with an Australian Aboriginal look, and someone else has a Viking waterbender, they're from different clans with different cultures. (i'm also not concerned with anachronisms, or bending over backwards to stick to every nit-picky detail of the canon--This is ultimately a fanfic RP, after all)
