Jerry made a confused face, raising an eyebrow, "Have you... honestly tried to sit down and talk with her? I don't think it's even physically possible to bond with someone against her will. The lectures say it's... you know. Like... finding your soul mate. Or you wouldn't have been able to bond at all. At least that's how I've always understood it. You obviously have something that brought you together or you... I don't know. Wouldn't have come together."
He looked thoughtful for a moment. Pondering Ofelia's dilemma at least got his mind off of the flute in Rep's horrible sweaty grip.
"When I first got started, honestly I was terrified of Roar. He always made it seem like... well. I had... I had these problems," He pursed his lips, tapping his head, "Er... Dissociation. I've always had... had very frail nerves, you know? When things just got too much my brain just sort of... shut off, I guess. I always figured he liked the mobile set of legs." He sighed. "But we've been partners a long time now, and he's... well, I mean... his bullying has helped. He's got a way about him, he's gruff and to the point, and big on insults, but from what I hear that's not uncommon," He chuckled again, "I suppose when you live in someone's head that's the only way they can blow off a bit of steam. But they chose to become weapons. They chose to fight with us. And it was an honor to be chosen by him. He's helped me keep my head. And he's helped guide me straight." Alpha Wolf. "I'm not sure I'm ready to not be a trainee anymore. But... i think about when I started and... and all the things I've done, all the things I've become with Roar's help... We're a good team."
He never really talked much about Roar to anyone. It was odd, and he could dimly sense the weapon purring softly in the back of his brain.
Howlers purred? He hoped it wasn't a growl. Those were GOOD thoughts, alright?

Ofelia's eye twitched again. The way Jerry was making it sound it was like he didn't believe her either, yet another person calling her a liar without actually saying as such. The twitch was brief but easy to catch if someone was looking at her. Still she kept the grin on her face, the friendly tone in her voice. Nothing was wrong, she was just imagining things.
All in her head, all of it. No one was questioning her, no one was doubting.
"Ah'll take yer advice then an' try ta talk wit' her." That wasn't going to work. They weren't on speaking terms right now for some god only knows reason. Still she wasn't going to make this about her, she was listening to Jerry talk about himself. Someone was sharing with her, it made her happy? It was hard to tell. "It's good though ta hear yer gettin' more out there 'cause yer weapon? S'allways good ta be bold."
He went on about the weapons choosing to become weapons, chosing to fight. "Do ya really b'live that? The stuff Ah met sure as hell didn' seem ta like me or wanna join me."

Jerry snorted, "Well it'd be completely illogical for her to bond with someone just at random. They only get to choose once," His expression fell a bit as he remembered flashes of stone tablets littering a garden of corpses. "They only get to choose once. Partners 'til death. You just have to have faith she knew what she was doing. You're a part of each other now whether you like it or not."

"Do they die wit' us? The weapons, that is. Or do they all kinda turn inta those things we fought tryin' ta clear the place." Rue had made comments about wanting to get a new partner and the only way that was going to happen is if Ofelia died. The way Jerry was talking the teen wasn't so sure if the weapon was lying to her or not.
But now, at least she knew, another thing had been added to the list of topics she had to lie about. No more talking about how Rue hated her. As far as anyone needed to know, Rue adored her. They were best friends. If Jerry ever asked again in the future, that is what she would tell him.
Yup yup.
"Ah've never really given much thought ta what happens here, Ah jus' mostly do as Ah'm told. No reason ta question if ya dun have power ta change, right?"

"I'm not sure I know what you mean?" He shook his head, "No, they die with the hunter. You were there for the tablet-collecting mission, weren't you? Everyone was on call. There's been lectures about it. I know we're suns, but, we accompany the Lifes and Moons, you really aught to pay attention to what you're signed up for."
He flinched as suddenly a text message came to his phone, digging it out of his jumpsuit pocket.
It was Rin... they wanted him to meet him at the beach. Oh, God, he still hadn't come up with a good excuse. Maybe just a bit of procrastination.

"Tablet collectin'. . . . Ah, ya mean the time wit' the water an' wanderin' 'round? Ah'd wondered what that all was." Ofelia had been there but had oddly not. . . remembered. Ah well. She'd never thought they were weapon tablets, just something else they'd been asked to grab for whatever random reason. The scolding and suggestion to learn more about what she was doing was ignored.
When Jerry pulled his phone out and looked at it she couldn't help but feel a sting. Someone else was going, she'd be alone with the silence. But she couldn't say that.
"Need ta go somewhere?" She kept the grin on her face, the friendly tone in her voice. "Ah'm sorry if Ah'm keepin' ya from sommin', Ah practically forced mahself on ya like this."

Jerry grimaced. Was... he this flaky when he was a greeny?
Pretty damn close, Roar snickered. But at least your weapon isn't suicidal.
"Ah... not... not anywhere right away..." He hedged, although the girl's carelessness unsettled him. "This is dangerous work you signed up for. I learned from experience if you don't keep your head in the game, you're going to end up getting killed." He hesitated a moment, "Or culled. You've met our division heads. Simon especially does not like loose wires or liabilities. Learn to work with your weapon or you're going to be in serious danger, and not from the monsters."

"Ah really dunno whatcha mean by 'signed up'. If ya mean did Ah follow the guy who promised ta keep me outta jail after Ah set a barn and'a buildin' at school on fire, sure Ah did. Was that me signin' up, cause if Ah'd known this stuff was gonna happen Ah'm not sure Ah'd have done any of it." Well no, she would have still burned down the barn and school.
Ofelia kept the smile on her face, always the smile. "Ah've actually never had a chance ta speak wit' Allan or Simon after meetin' 'em that first time an' then seein' 'em on the pony mission. Other than that no one's really bothered wit' me so Ah really dun try ta seek 'em out. Ah've heard rumors though." Ofelia blinked and brushed her hair behind her ears, finally getting it out of her face. The empty socket in her skull stared straight ahead.

Jerry's face went a bit green.
And not because of the eye socket.
Thankfully, a second, and then a third text message suddenly buzzed on the phone in his hand.
He grabbed his cane, hefting himself up to his feet and frowned at all of the hearts Sasha had left.
"Well. Until you sort yourself out, I recommend you stay away from them. And er... pay attention during lectures. Apparently it's ah... an emergency so I should probably be off um... it was nice talking with you, any way."

Ofelia kept the grin on her face, totally unaware that she likely just drove yet another person from her unit away from her with ungodly speed. As he got to his feet though she backed up a bit and didn't reach to shake his hand or anything, instead opting to just. . .stand there.
"Okay, good luck then. Ah hope everythin' works out fer ya in the end?" She shrugged at the advice though, knowing nothing would work well for her even if she tried. Still she could say she did and no one would know or care right?
Right.
