The moment Harrison's boot touched down on the ice, he heard a distinct cracking noise. Water began to flood around his boots. And with a sudden jolt of uneasiness, he realized the ice floe was beginning to tilt...
Rep came out of the portal one second later, and the balance was momentarily restored.
Then Rep set off at a run.
More platforming, B0nez said with glee.

STEP 1 - Success
No ******** wonder they'd picked trainees again, they were just the most disposable alternative, every single ******** time. As he ran once again for what felt like his life, Rep was almost resigned, this was how s**t was in Deus. You did your job and you hoped to whatever fates there were you got home.
Headsets were also ******** useless he decided as he ran, fury all but propelling him. He couldn't even make out what Mark was trying to say, despite it probably being ******** important.
It was cold. Cold cold cold. And it made it hard to even trust reaction times, restrictive jackets didn't help either. They had to get out of it.
"Look out for WHAT?" he snarled, leaping just in time as the ice split underfoot, glancing back hurriedly to make sure everyone else was in tow.

STEP 1
She'd somehow been able to forgotten how ungodly cold it was in the Antarctic since they'd last been there. No seriously, how could anywhere be so ********- Wait, what was-
and then there was-
and she could barely hear Mark -
GOD DAMMIT!!
She would have sworn beneath her scarf-mask, but it was only be breath that was going to keep her nose and mouth warm, so she needed to not waste that on pointless yelling. Not to say she wouldn't have to yell over the sound of ice and everything else whirling around them. Tent. Harpoon. Secure something to use it?
She had a feeling this was going to be a disaster if that's all they were going to have to work with. The communications were so shoddy! Not Mark's fault, though. She fully well knew that.
Never the less, it was time to get moving, and Cass sort of forced herself to get going.

Step 1 Redux
So he side stepped that MoFo like a ******** Boss. It had been a close call. A little too close. He could keep going and get to the tent, but he waited for the team to all gather round before pressing forward. If someone fell in it would do n good to be a few steps ahead.

Clerise stepped carefully on the ice, glad that she'd shucked heels for a decent pair of boots.
She could practically feel the ice crinkle under her feet, tinkling like little bells.
Deep breaths, and get to the harpoons. Remember how much you love those ******** harpoons? Remember? Because they were awesome.

An ominous crack suddenly pierced the wind behind them. Something moved inthe white mass, a strange dark shape, rising into the air as if tasting the frigid wind before disappearing back into the expanse of white.
A second crack, this time closer. Underneath them, in the parts of the ice cleared by the wind, trainees could see something shift under the ice, a thick black squid-like form that seemed to curl and dissolve around the ends. For a second it stopped moving-
- Fixing one enormous red eye straight up at the trainees.
They had better move to that harpoon. Fast.

STEP 2 ((Omg Otto stop rolling ones))
- Death Hunters bonus: If you roll a 1 or 6, you instinctively know that you should watch your step and can reroll your turn.
"What was that?!" Otto called out, looking behind them for the source of the loud cracking sound. Was the whole Antarctic about to break? Another sound, and below he could see movement. Maybe it had just been his eyes playing tricks? But no trick culd explain the big red eye staring up at them.
"Uuuuuh....BOOK IT!!" Otto suggested loudly, making a dash for the next safe place to step on. Like the first time, something started to give, and his instinct told him to steer cear of that spot.

Step 2
Cass flinched as the ice began to crack a-
"Oh <******** me!" This wasn't the kind of utterance that would be heard through the wall of Cass's room by certain people present, but rather one of 'OH SHITSHITSHITHIdf;jskldf!!" as the Mist trainee picked up her step.
"This ******** sucks!!" she added as she broke into a half-jog. Not running yet because despite her increase in stamina over morning jogs with Leon, she didn't want to wear herself out just in case.

Step 2 - FAIL
He just wasn't nimble enough, he wasn't really built for light footed skipping over ice, and as a particular large crack laced through the dusting of snow underfoot, he was sure he saw something ******** move. It distracted him as terror slunk its truly icy talons into his thoughts, and he misjudged the jump.
The ice he was on cracked and tilted as the water beneath rippled and swelled and boots were suddenly no traction at all as he scrabbled frantically for purchase to stay out of the water. His thoughts were longingly of ice picks as he tried to scramble for the edge to hold onto before it got so steep and he'd just fall.

Step 2 - hup
The snow was exploding, and Harrison could see the geysers as something broke through. Something underneath.
Besides the temperature, there was now a whole new reason not to go into the water.
He navigated between floes, near the tail end of the group, when the piece of ice Rep was standing on decided to upend. Doing maybe the stupidest thing he could think of, he kept right on towards it, then jumped, throwing all his weight into knocking the ice the opposite direction, and stabbing B0nez straight threw the ice wall. It wasn't an ice pick, but it was close.
Harrison held his handle with one hand, and the collar of Rep's jacket with the other, pressing, leaning.
For a heart-stopping moment he thought it was too heavy, they were sunk, going to flip anyway, but then the balance changed, and the whole thing started back forward.
He didn't look down into the water below.
"GET READY TO JUMP," he shouted over the wind and creaking ice.

Step 3
All Rep could do was wait for gravity to claim its inevitable victim and hold out as long as he could, numb terror making thought impossible, running on pure instinct. And then there was a thunk and someone else was there and he was looking at the sparking eye sockets of B0nez, blade embedded in the ice.
The moment of uncertain balance seemed to draw out for a long time as the ice redressed itself.
There was no time to think, aware suddenly that the momentum would mean when they flipped back, their side of the floe would go under. It was his turn to seize Harrison too as in a moment of sheer instinct he tried to make damn ******** sure that as they jumped off, they jumped together.
He closed his eyes as he jumped, dreading landing on nothing at all. The crunch of snow and relatively solid ice underfoot said he'd made it.

Step 3 - crunch
Harrison pulled B0nez free and cleared the icy turntable of death, with Rep's fist in his jacket, and his own hand tight around Rep's shirt collar.
But where Rep landed on powdery, relatively solid ice, the layer Harrison landed on was thin. He went right through, and before he had time to think, he was surrounded in icy water. It took all of his willpower not to breath in a big gulp of it out of shock. And something else, something worse, was moving right beneath his feet.
