The dragon's fierce face didn't stop the witch one bit, but the baby miced teas certainly did. For a long moment, Belladonna hesitated over the teapot and just stared down at the babies. They were sooooo cuuuuuuuuuute~ But Belladonna really, really wanted that clue! So, it was only just a moment more before she reached in and grabbed up the paper. She read it quickly, and with a hurried yet delicate hand, stuffed it back into the pot for the babies. Whoops! Couldn't forget the next letters! "So many letters! Alright, alright... Puzzle... Puzzle." Belladonna said as she thought about the puzzle. What got wetter as it dried? (Assuming that was the riddle... If it was something else entirely, she was wholly screwed.) Well, it couldn't be water... OK. Last thing first... What dried... Hair dryers, those crazy vents in the bathrooms, paper towels, towels... WAIT. Wait... Towels dried and got wet because they dried off the water! AH! That was it! But... Where were the towels? Belladonna looked around for a towel, but didn't see one. That was so weird... Why would Mort give her a clue that wasn't in the room? Oh, unless... Uncertain as to whether this was correct or not, Belladonna inched over to the bathroom door and pushed it open slowly. With a searching hand she stuck it in and flicked on the light.

Lanna, who had been on the bathroom rug just before the door, waddled out of the way with a soft whine in warning, ears tilted backwards. A very different, softer growl was heard the second the lights came on.
Curled on top of the towels was a sleeping zombie dragie the size of a goat. The light had disturbed him enough to elicit a sound and bury his head further into the bedding, but not enough to wake him just yet. Protruding from beneath one of his forepaws was a post-it with a bold W. Another, I, was stuck to his shoulder from rolling about in the makeshift bed. The next index card was much safer to reach, by the sink to the right of the door.
If Bells remembered, Mort had briefly mentioned owning Brian, a less-than-friendly minipet who he hadn't seen in a while. The creature had crawled in to make his new den while his owner was away, which might or might not throw a wrench in the works.
She could very well leave the dragie alone and miss out on several letters. Then again, what was an adventure without a stealing from a dragon? Or in Belladonna's case, a jabberwocky.OPTIONS Belladonna can choose to: A. Attempt to steal the post-it notes + card without waking Brian up- Time for a stealth check! Roll 1d20 to see how well the witch fairs. Unless a 1 or 20 is rolled, her score will be matched to Brian's awareness roll (at a -3 since he's more inclined to be drowsy). - If she gets a higher score, she won't have to deal with Brian. 8D A natural 20 is an automatic success. - If she doesn't beat the score or rolls a 1 (which is an auto-fail), Brian will wake up and try to bite her (aka battle). 8( - If the scores are equal, Bells got close to getting the post-its but at the last second retreats - the dragie was almost wakened! She can either try again or go to another option. B. Stun him!- Maybe the best route is a showing your aggression! Bells can choose to create a racket/distraction/surprise/what have you to not only wake up Brian, but confuse and unsettle him long enough to get her prizes and go. - Roll an attack roll (2d8-6). If she causes at 3+ points of damage, she's made enough of a display to frighten the dragie into backing off/staying still/etc. - If she fails, a battle will also come about. Brian really doesn't like strangers. 8( C. Take the index card and go- There's always the option to just cut her losses without bothering Brian at all. 8D; Simply take the card and shut the door before he knows what's happened. Though there has to be a reason she's collecting these letters, right?

As much as Belladonna wished Lanna had whined earlier, she didn't and opened the door to find... Oh my gosh, it was Brian? He was so cute! But hadn't Mort said he was... Unfriendly? He looked unfriendly. Which was unfortunate because Belladonna desperately wanted to be friends with him. Darn. BUT BUT BUUUTTTTT. He had the post it notes. And she wanted them. Badly. Surely she could have remembered the letters, but she just couldn't give them up like this... FINE. She'd deal with the Jabberwocky like a good Alice. Wait, shouldn't she have a Vorpal Sword for this? As carefully as she could, Belladonna took a few tentative steps into the bathroom. She was slow, but still her heels clacked loudly on the floor. Oh batshit! Brian probably heard that... THIS WAS SO HARD. But if Mort had made this for her, she'd do it. She knew it was going to be worth it!

(( DOES BRIAN HEAR? Yup. sad SORRY, BELLS. ))
Clack.
Clack.
Clack.
Each step made him twitch more and more until eventually the dragie was roused with a grumpy grumble. Rolling his head, Brian fixated the witch with a most unwelcome glare, red eyes gleaming as the grumble turned into a much more verbal growl. Forgoing the stretching he'd normally do, the minipet stood and bared his teeth, pawing at the ground like a bull ready to charge - and snorting like one even.
She had, at max, three seconds to react. Lanna used those precious seconds to get the hell out of the bathroom.Brian's HP: 20 (He will attack using Dragain's minipet battle rules, 4d4-4) YOU STARTLED THE WITCH - ER, JABBERWOCKY - WELL, CLOSE ENOUGH IZ BATLE TIEM. Belladonna can attack/defend as if fighting a student, as well as use her available FEARs. Knocking Brian to 1-5HP will tire him out enough to let her take the post-it notes. At 0 and below, he simply dissipates back to The Other Side of the Closet, leaving behind the post-its.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu--Why did she have to fight? He was so cute! Couldn't they just cuddle it all out? That would have been better! No one would have gotten hurt and she could have acquired the post-it notes. And what would Mort say when she finally found him? (Wherever could he be during all this!?) He would be livid to hear that she had fought one of his mini pets. It wasn't like she could really and truly hurt the thing, but STILL. She was kind of hurting him... It was weird, and she didn't want to, but Belladonna still darted forward and gave the dragie a very hard spank. "We do not fight! Bad Brian!" She scolded in attempt to show that she was the Alpha of this situation. Maybe if he saw that he'd back down? Maybe he'd give up? THERE WAS ALWAYS HOPE! HP: 40 Damage: 9

Unholy son of a witch that hurt.
Brian was not used to such harsh discipline. Sure, Mort had tried before with bribes, classes, and shouting when his nerves were particularly frayed. Nothing worked quite so much as that slap. Immediately Brian backed away with a howl of pain, one leg gimp due to decomposition. But even with only three working legs and a stinging hand-print, the minipet elected to charge at her, lowering his head to try and makes his point that this was his bathroom go away.
Well, two points really, since he was asserting this notion with his horns.HP: 11 Damage: 4

"OW OW OW OOOOWWWWW!" The witch cried out as the little dragie rammed his horns into her calf. For whatever reason, when a pet did the damage, it hurt way more than normal. The witch jumped back and to the side and pulled up her leg to hold the pain in. So distracted by her pain, she forgot to try to anything else.
"Why would you do that Brian?! This isn't supposed to go like this! We're supposed to hug!" Obviously, that was not going to happen...

If Belladonna's pleas were understood, they had little effect. If anything, now that he was up close and personal Brian would not let off. Not until this unwanted intrusion not only left the bathroom, but Mort's room entirely.
To punctuate this point, the drag swung his head and aimed for her other leg to try and topple her over.

"OW. Stop that!" Belladonna shouted as she kicked out at the dragie to keep him from pummeling into his other leg. Yet as her kick landed, she retracted it quickly and issued forth a stream of apologies. Oh this was dreadful! "I really think I need a vorpal sword!" The witch whined as she side stepped the poor creature. HP: 33 Damage: 3

Belladonna's kick sent the dragie against the base of the sink with a crack, and for a moment it looked as though Brian was gong to topple over. Unfortunately the endurance of the undead let him shake it off with a tired snarl, and though he was more wobbly than before the minipet was a fighter - and thus would only go down fighting.
The collision had dislodged his eyeball a little, though, so at least this charge was slightly more comical in that he now had a lazy-eye to glare (or rather, half-glare) at the witch with. Unfortunately, instinctual rage had the luck to send him in the right direction with open jaws ready to clamp down and stop those damn feet.
No "vorpal sword" was in sight. But then, Mort hadn't really planned on Brian intruding.HP: 8 Damage: 4

"Oh Hecate I am so, SO sorry!" Belladonna cried out as the dragie hit the sink. But then its eye popped out and she couldn't help but file a little. That happened to Galahad sometimes and he was always so silly about it! He would always hiss and scratch until she got him into a tiny headlock and forced the eye back in. But she kind of figured Brian wouldn't let her even touch him. Well, not like that... He charged for her leg and quite forcefully grabbed her ankle. The witch let out a shriek of pain and kicked out of instinct. The poor thing flew backwards and hit the sink once more. Seizing her opportunity, and unwilling to fight any longer, Belladonna bounded forward and snatched up the two post-it notes from the towel, whirled around and seized the notecard before she darted out the bathroom and slammed down the door behind her. WHEW. HP: 29 Damage: 4 Ol-j-man I hope its ok that I went ahead and took the 1-5 HP window and bolted. XD

Silence. Then rustling sounds from within as a haggard Brian eventually picked himself up from the floor, sent a wheezing growl at the door, and then limped back to his towel-bed. When the coast was clear, Lanna pulled herself from beneath Mort's bed, black eyes wide with awe at the display of heroics she had witnessed.
emotion_kirakira You could almost hear her saying. "My hero~" She yipped once, content to remain on the opposite side of the room much as she wanted to go congratulate the witch herself.
With W and I reclaimed, it was time for the next riddle!

Uuuughhhh... That was unfortunate. Since she needed a break, Belladonna slumped down in front of the bed and waved for Lanna to come to her. Whether or not she padded forward, the witch still took a deep breath and looked at the riddle. Oh Hecate... She had absolutely no clue! Errr, good thing she had elected to take a sit down. "What is around during the night but not during the day? Vampires. But, hhmmm... I don't think that's the answer... Alright. Um... Night? Well, wait no... No... Hrrmmm." Ugh! This one was a little bit harder for the battle worn witch who discovered that the floor was not really all that comfortable. Reluctant to stay there any longer than she needed, she stood and turned to make room on the bed where she could think in better comfort. And that's when she saw the boxes. One of them had a whole bunch of stars on it. "I am a total derp." She said out loud as she reached for the box and popped it open.

Much like any pet who's around a highly aggressive neighbor, Lanna wanted to avoid the bathroom door even though it was closed. But much like any pet in general, an open lap was quite the invitation to hop on top. As Belladonna slumped atop Mort's bed, the foxfire perked up and pawed at her legs (not mindful of where Brian had left his marks) to be picked up. Also treats? OuO The witch still had the smell of them after all.
Up to this point each riddle's correct answer had given up at least one letter. But when Bells lifted the lid off the star box, she was instead rewarded with another index card and bits of glitter showering down into her lap - the interior of the box had a light coating of the art herpes stuff.
The last part can't be solved so easily! the card playfully chided. Not without its other half. "CONTINUE" was written in the lower corner, prompting the second part of the riddle on the other side.
It lies behind stars and under the hills

Unfortunately for Lanna, she had missed her opportunity for lap pets, for Belladonna was already up and opening the star box by the time she pawed her way over. When she pressed on the witch's legs, Belladonna couldn't help the little whimper of pain she let out, so to distract the pup she tossed another treat back onto the rug Lanna loved so much. "Maybe I should have done a healing spell before I ended that battle..." The witch mumbled to herself. But just as she was about to truly consider it, a shower of glitter fell out. Belladonna squealed happily. For a moment, she forgot the riddle entirely as she dabbed her first two fingers into the small puddle of glitter and quickly smeared two lines of the stuff onto her face, one thick line under each eye. Now she was a real warrior! She'd fought the Jabberwocky and was on her way to the joyous fraptuous day! But first, another riddle. "Oh Mort, these riddles do so confound me." Belladonna said out loud, but only plopped down on the bed to think. What could one have more of that impeded one's vision? What hides behind stars? And under trees? What is the sibling of light? "The sibling of light... Is the opposite of light. And the opposite of light is darkness. OH! Oh its darkness!" But... Where could she find darkness in the room? Quick on her feet, Belladonna dropped off the bed and onto her knees and peered under the bed. Huh... Nothing. Maybe she should try turning off the lights? "Stay where you are Lanna, I'm bringing the night." Belladonna warned her with a smile and glitter on her cheeks, right before she wandered over and flicked off the overhead light.
