Money was always an issue, or at least, the utter lack of it was, but one could get by without very many. So he fed Alexander...it was not that big of a deal. He was his bonded and he would take care of him. And it was just one more mouth to feed. As for after the trials...could all of that really be blamed on Alexander being too dependent? Was it not also his fault for being vague and not relying on Alexander? He knew that Alexander kept in touch with his mother, but he thought nothing of it really because he had no way to know if that was normal or not. But he could not bear it if Alexander simply went back to them and that was that. He had said that he would not leave, and the idea that Alexander would was rather revolting.
But Alexander was not giving him a single chance to actually say anything that was on his mind. It was aggravating, but unless there was an emergency Yin thought it was somewhat rude to interrupt. What he wanted to do was tell the zomboil that he really did not mind if he mooched or too advantage of him, he did not really mind supporting him.
Perhaps his bonded sensed that because he just switched gears entirely, throwing a question at Yin that forced him to turn his attention to himself. What would he do? And right after Alexander spoke about being too dependent? Was he too dependent as well? "I...I suppose that I will remain here if I can to continue learning," he said slowly. "I know that we were made knobs after the trials, but I do not know that I was ready. And I believe that I may be facing changes myself. I guess I will just stay here..." It sounded pathetic, that his plan was just to continue on with the status quo. But his had learned to transform his hands, and then they had spent time on the various Isles and he could not shift, but now...now he needed to work on that, to see how far he could take that ability. That would be useful would it not? And maybe he could read a new book, or at least part of one.
"And I can try to help the gnomes out more," he added a bit belatedly. "I can save up a few seeds that way and then it will not matter if your mother sends more?" He sounded a bit hopeful, but at the rate the gnomes got away with paying him...well, it would certainly not buy Alexander the amount of ties that he was accustomed to having.

Yin's answer was about what he had expected, even after he had told the weremantis that he could come back home with him for the summer if he wished. He knew that it wouldn't be ideal for him, and that it would be more likely that Yin would stay at the school and they would just have to keep in contact over the distance and possibly visit each other from time to time. But the more Yin went on about why he was going to stay, about the learning he felt that he needed to achieve and about how he would try to work for the gnomes to make more money, that just made Alex feel proud, and when Yin was finished he found himself rolling onto his back, and scooting backwards so that he could lean against the wall and look down at Yin. He gazed at him for a few moments, studying him, before he took his own turn to speak again.
"I've decided I'm going to stay for the summer too. I'm not going to go back home. I'm going to take summer classes here, and try and find a job." He let that idea sink in a little before he continued on. "I just..I can go home and visit anytime, for a weekend or maybe even an entire week, but if I go home for an entire summer... I'm scared I won't want to leave. And as much as I just said I'm probably too dependent on you, I don't want to be away from you for that long either. And getting a job...well, it's about time I grow up and take on some responsibility for myself, I think...plus, there is the money aspect as well." He grinned at that last part.
And then there were other things on top of that. Like Yin, he felt like there was a lot of learning he still needed to do for himself, and that his 'promotion' up to knob level may have come a touch premature. His short spar with Mitzi had shown him that he had new abilities of his own, and he needed to explore that further. Oh and had he mentioned yet that he didn't really want to be away from Yin for an entire summer? Well, he could be at least a little bit selfish, couldn't he?
Really though, he just wanted to see Yin's reaction to his decision. Would his boilfriend be happy to learn that he wasn't going to go home as he had first planned? Or would he urge Alexander to leave, to spend time with his family that he knew he missed so much? He didn't want Yin to feel guilty, like the zomboil was staying just for him, because that wasn't it.
At least, not entirely.

"A job?" If Yin found nothing else to do in his life, he could possibly make a rather convincing echo. "Oh but you will have to go home and visit will you not? Surely your mother would be upset if you did not go to see her." He mentally glossed over the part about why Alexander did not think he could stay there the entire summer. It sounded awful, that he would just leave him behind and not come back for safety reasons. On the other hand, Yin understood that feeling far, far better than he should.
But did Alexander really need a job? It probably would not affect his studies, and responsibility would be nice. One did not need much money to be in school really, but as long as he refused to watch his clothing and wanted to eat expensive food rather than rats...maybe it was the best option for him. "But you will not hesitate to say something if I can help you?" Yin asked, slightly worried. "I really do not mind. If you want a job that is wonderful, but if not I will do my best to assist you." Content enough now that he had made sure that Alexander would know he did not mind being depended on he edged his way to the side of the bed and stood, fully stretching now and turning back to Alexander.
"Would part of your summer include training?" He asked almost innocently. Almost.

Yin could have been at least a little more excited that Alex was choosing to spend his summer at the school, at least partially for the purpose of not having to leave the weremantis behind. At least, that was one of the first thoughts that had rolled through his mind before Yin continued on. "I'll go home and visit, absolutely. But just for a weekend, maybe even a few days longer. And you know, you can always come along as well." He thought he aught to at least put that offer out there one more time, in case Yin had forgotten.
"I think a job would be for the best. I...seem to have a much more expensive lifestyle then I realized. Besides, I'm going to have to get one full time someday once I've graduated. Might as well get some experience, right?" All smiles as he watched Yin move his way out of bed, happy that he had made a decision for himself for a change, instead of relying on others to make his decisions for him (others=his mother).
Training? Alex's smile might have split into a grin, giving Yin a flash of teeth. "Ready to show me all of those different pins now, finally? Will that really take all summer?" There was something that had caught his eye, however, and his gaze suddenly shot downwards as he blinked in surprise. Edging his way to the side of the bed, swinging his legs down and pushing himself up, he shuffled his way towards the weremantis, reaching out to take a hand in his own, a small frown on his face.
"What's that?" He asked, tracing a finger over the dark marking that seemed to encircle Yin's pinkie finger. Somehow, he doubted it was a tattoo, and only one other thing really came to mind. Something that he had seen on visiting zombies, who worked for demon masters, and had stopped in at Alex's family home for a visit on their 'days off', or he had seen depicted in books. None that he'd seen were ever the same, though. His eyes raised back up to Yin's, confusion mixed with concern. It was best not to assume the worst, however, so he tried not to seem too worried.

If Yin did not seem overjoyed perhaps it was because he, unlike most scarelings, simply did not know what it was like to have a summer vacation. Or, be three-quarters of the way through it, and so bored that one was almost wishing for school to start again. He was certainly happy, but there was so much other information that the zombie was dumping on him that it was a bit hard to process.
Or maybe it really would not have bothered him that much. Alexander simply could not know the truth about that. For now.
"I would not want to intrude," he protested weakly. Mainly because that was not much of an excuse, but there was the protest because...well one simply did not know whether or not Alexander's sisters would be there or not.
"Do jobs after graduation require much experience?" he wondered aloud. One more thing to worry about, but he had enough on his plate that he was not serious about giving the idea any thought. Besides, knowing him he would confuse something or another, and make everything even worse for whomever he worked for. No, he would much prefer to work at showing Alexander some of those different pins, and enough had gone on recently that he had forgotten how compromising they could seem. "Depends on how eager you are to learn," he decided, since that seemed to be a major factor with Alexander.
But even as he spoke Alexander was moving toward him, frowning. Yin looked back at him, worry clearly written on his face, obviously the events had affected him on a level he could not quite shake. But all Alexander seemed to want to do was take his hand and then look at the marking he had received from Miss Danny. "This? Oh it is nothing, something I got from Miss Danny." If he spoke dismissively...well, part of it was not knowing how important it was outside of the small bargain he had made. And part of it was simply that he did not wish to discuss the details of that transaction with the zomboil. If there came to be a time that the zomboil needed to know about that promise...well, it would be too late then.

Alexander mentally shrugged off Yin's protests about joining him back home for a visit. Ultimately, it was the weremantis's decision whether or not he wished to go back with him, and there was really nothing more the zomboil could do or say about it. If a trip to Alex's house would make him uncomfortable, then he would actually really prefer Yin just stay at the school where he could be happy.
He wasn't really sure if the question about work experience was directed at him or if Yin was just talking to himself, so he shrugged and answered anyways. "Depends what you want to do, I guess. I meant it more as an... exercise in learning what it's like to have a job and not just sit around doing nothing all day." Of course, Alex knew he was lazy and freely admitted it without any shame whatsoever. Though if it was anything like his experience in finding a new minipet bed for Yin's bedroom he might find himself disliking it intensely.
Maybe a nice, quiet job at a book store would be his best bet. Hrmmmm...
But those thoughts were all cast aside for now as he studied the mark on Yin's finger, actually lifting the boils hand up to look at it closer. "Danny?" he blinked in surprise. Danny had..marked Yin? But why? For some reason this didn't exactly sit well with him, but he tried not to let it show. "I don't suppose you'd tell me why, would you? Not even if I asked really really nicely?" He didn't exactly sound as though he was going to ask nicely, though, his voice coming out more like a grumble. Obviously he wasn't putting enough effort into hiding his unhappiness. He didn't actually know a lot about demon marks, his knowledge being vague at best. He knew many undead servants had them, as mark of the contract they had been bound by to work for their masters. Danny wouldn't have made Yin a servant though, would she? Surely Yin would never have agreed to that. No, hopefully this was something much smaller, though if that was the case, why even mark him at all?
Worried. Alex was extremely worried. Again, he tried to force his unease to the side, as difficult as it was, and focus on something else. What was the last thing they had been talking about? Oh right. Pins. Yin kicking his undead a** in training. Training, groping around, being forced to the floor with Yin on top and in control... Yep, that was definitely helping! He was feeling better already.

What he wanted to do was...again, he had a lot of school left did he not? Nothing to worry about. Nothing to worry about...
Yin was not entirely surprised when Alexander lifted his hand, the mark was a curious thing to gaze upon, the black flames flickering up across the back of his hand. But what did surprise him was how Alexander spoke about it. "Well um...it is a private matter really," Yin answered, a bit flustered. Normally when he tried to tell Alexander that things...did not end well. The zomboil did not like secrets at the same level that Yin preferred privacy.
"I am not saying that to try to avoid answering," he added a bit concerned. "It is not something I can simply share, as it is not something for me to tell as it Miss Danny's mark." There was a slight plea to his voice, begging Alexander to understand. "What I can tell you is that it is not something to be concerned about? It is not harmful, and it barely hurt." Yin tried to give Alexander a reassuring smile, hoping that it would be enough to put this to rest.

Fortunately Alexander was starting to catch on the learning curve that was having a relationship with Yin, and he knew that if he wanted to avoid an argument, he should probably just drop it. He had asked, and Yin had given him an answer, of sorts. He was taken out of his current happy place, and told that it was something he should not be concerned about, that it wasn't harmful, and that it barely hurt. The barely part had him letting go of Yin's hand, clenching his own hands into fists at his sides, and he had to close his eyes and do a short mental count before he was able to relax and open his eyes again. His eyes immediately seeking Yin's, almost as though he were searching for some kind of reassurance there. What he saw must have been enough, because he just nodded.
"Okay, fair enough. I understand, and I--I won't lie, I'm not happy about this, but I trust you enough to just let it go." And that was that. Alex was just going to drop it, and try not to think about it anymore. Mind you, that was going to be hard to do with the mark that almost seeming to mock him and his ignorance towards what it actually meant every single time he looked at it. Alex was a knowledge seeker, and now he was likely going to be just burning with curiosity over it.
It would probably be for the best if he just stayed in his happy place a little bit longer. Time for a subject change, taking them back to the topic at hand before Alex brought up the mark. "So, this training...was there any particular time you wanted to get started? And don't worry, I am more then eager to learn about all these different pins I keep hearing about." Emphasis on the word 'more', followed by narrow eyed smile that one might have dubbed as just a little..creepy? Ya, creepy definitely fit the bill on this one.

Yin's smile widened just a hair when Alexander said that he trusted him with this, and while he did not enjoy that it bothered him...Alexander was just going to have to deal with it. That was being independent...right? It was when it suited Yin's needs at least. "Thank you."
Alexander was now asking him about training, but his poor boilfriend must have had the pumpkin sun shining in his eyes or something because his eyes were oddly narrowed. With his smile the look was a bit unnerving, but one could hardly blame him for sunlight in his eyes. "You had probably better rest for now, but I will consider this a promise that you will join me in the next few days."
Then Yin had a smile of his own at the idea, and it might have been hard for an onlooker to decide which smile was more unnerving.
