She watched him, pleased that he was able to copy a form if given a template, though she grew alarmed when Lament fell into the water. <<Akakios!>> Her mental tone was sharp, <> She leaned forward to offer a hand to the youth, her brows quirked someone between pride and disatisfaction.
<> There was a bit of laughter as she met his gaze. Some of him had not changed... but most of it did. Granted, he was the wrong gender but that was forgivable. <>

It was not that easy ! At least the fact that he had not figured out how to 'talk' yet spared Exalla some of the whining. With her help, he was eventually on all four hooves, a little wobbingly so, but at least he was standing upright.
Likely he was not done face-planting, through. His face looked like he was trying to pout but, again, lacked the mouth to do so.
Really, it was not funny !
<> Apparently, yes. Uh. <> His own tone sounded rather amused. <>
Another ripple came, turning the pale purple fur into a pale blue. The markings remained the same purple, however, and did not change in the least. <<...I look really strange.>>
Really, he did !

Exalla winced as he shouted, <> One brow was cocked up, amusement dancing in her eyes but it was tempered by a seriousness as she watched him shift genders.
The purple fur became blue, yes, but the shoulders and torso grew stronger, the tail longer and the shorm was much larger then hers. <> She walked away from him to admire his form and gave an approving nod, <>

A what now ? Her reaction made it easy to at least make an educated guess, through. <> That was, thankfully, a much more normal mental tone.
Thankfully, he did not seem to realize that he had more or less shouted for the world at large that he looked like a girl.
Ignorance was bliss, sometimes.
<> Giving someone an huge blade on a tail one was not used to control most likely was not the brightest idea the both of them had. Thankfully, the tail seemed content to hang low and stay out of the way for the most part, only giving a few twitches when the god shifted conscious thought to it.
Walking was another complicated matter in itself - having two more legs to bother with than usually made him more that a little wonky on his feet. Really, he likely should just have tried something easier for the first try...
But a few steps and a few near-stumbles later, he seemed to have more or less gotten the hang of it. Well, mostly that meant he did not threaten to fall down on his face with every step he took. He still looked ridiculous, through.

Exalla huffed and brought her tail around, the length of it curling such that the blade was held before her chest and she set her hands on the flat of the shorm, <> It was obvious that she could get a decent reach in front of her with a flick of the tail.
His steps were shaky, yes, but he was walking - it was progress. <>
She moved off a bit once more, enough for a run, and gestured, <>

Oh, the tail blade. Yes, he could certainly see where this could be a problem. <> He tried to reassure her, keeping both tail and blade low, and aimed toward the ground.
It was not so much a balance problem as a too much of everything problem. He still had problems trying to understand which eye saw what, and when he did look backward with the eyestalks it was nearly dizzying. If he stopped thinking that he had four legs instead of two, well... It seemed like a sure-fire god-meet-grass situation.
Still, so far what Exalla had said had worked out... So he gave it a try, and broke into a run. Again, it seemed rather clumsy at first, but the least he actually tried to think about it, the better he seemed to be doing.

She seemed pleased by his progress and trotted after him. <> She took off then at an equivalent to a jog, pausing only briefly on the edge of the woods. <>
She loved the sensation of running, the contrast between morphs... it let her feel so much more in life and Exalla hoped Akakios might sense that in his Andalite form and realize how superior her people were.

...Maybe this was not so bad, after all ?
Really, it just seemed to get easier the less he actually thought about how different everything was compared to what he was used to. It did not make that much sense to him at first, given how driven he was toward research, fact, and figuring out everything he could, rather than simply leaving it to instinct.
Still, the face tried to shift into what might have been a grin, and the glint of mischief in his eyes would be the only warning Exalla would get before he broke into a run, clearly intending to at leasr try to outrun her this time around.
That was not very likely to happen, but for now he did not care about that at all. Running felt good, freeing in some way, clearing his mind of all his worries, troubles and aggravation.

She could tell he was letting go, it showed in the way he carried himself, in the easing tension of his shoulders and the flowing gallop he'd begun.
<> Exalla praised, keeping pace with him as they moved out beyond the woods and into the plains beyond. The grass was tall and the sky was foreign but there was something about spaces and aimless running that settled her Andalite heart. At length she slowed to a trot and then to a walk, circling around so she faced him.
<> She tilted her head to the side as he stalk eyes continued to scan the plains out of habit.

He slowed as she did the same, stopping to catch his breath. It was obvious that running was not something that he actually did a whole lot of. It was actually rare that the young god actually felt rushed, or pressed for time. Perhaps it was one of the few things he had in common with his uncle - minutes, hours, and days blended for him, with only the rise and fall of the sun, the cycle of day and night, to remind him that time actually passed.
<> He admitted, turning his head to look at the tail out of sheer force of habit - not truly noticing that he could have simply turned an eyestalk to achieve the same result. <>

<> Exalla admonished, clearly believing that Akakios was not the physical type a warrior's life required, < <> She deliberately walked past him so that he was behind her, only her stalk eyes looking at him, <>
She turned, her tail curling up much like a scorpion's, <> To demonstrate, her tail flicked forward like a whip and struck a good few feet before her at an imaginary opponent.

That made sense, really. It would give him a greater idea of how this body worked - and how the tail worked, really. He was not exactly expecting to turn into a warrior, either. He would much prefer to avoid combat... And well, if he was ever caught with something that could actually hurt him, then he certainly would not have time to shift.
<> Really, this was just so much more different than he was used to, but Lament seemed determined to at least be a good student - shifting conscious effort to follow Exalla's movement with the eye stalks rather than to look at her directly. Walking like this had become natural after he had focused on it for a bit... Maybe this would be the same, too ?
He watched her movements carefully, then set out to mimic them. He was not doing too badly, through he had clearly over-estimated his own reach, causing a near stumble at the end of the motion, as he slashed away from Exalla. <>

She laughed, the mental sound almost childlike as she huffed a little, the edges of her eyes turning up in her mirth. It was the first time she'd laughed and she seemed startled by the admission, as the guise of the Andalite had somehow made him easier to understand.... made her feel less alone. The chortle became a snort as she danced sideways, a little ruffled by the unexpected laughter.
<> She continued as if nothing had happened, turning around to pad off to the nearest tree and struck the side, sinking the blade in a few inches. <>
She backed off and gestured to the tree.

The laugh caught him off-guard - he certainly was not used to someone laughing right into his mind like this - and he was not sure how to take it. Certainly he could not have truly looked that ridiculous ?
But her laughter was bright and... well. Contagious. His own was much more subdued, however, as it always seemed to be the case with him.
<> He finally managed, mental 'voice' still thick in amusement. <>
And so he readied himself, and once he was certain Exalla was out of range, he did strike - missing the tree by a mere half-inch, but the balance was much better now that he knew roughtly how far he could reach.

<> She quipped, standing aside as he struck again and almost hit proper, <>
She adopted the pose again, arms held a little out to the side as if ready to engage some invisible opponent. <>
