Chaonis shrugged. He was not sure what they were. Or if all the gyms were like this. Was everything rigged with booby traps? Every time anyone wanted to go to the gym or to the toilet or something, they had to go through trials?

That sounded like something a planet for the Senshi of Danger would do, definitely.

He looked at her as she moved next to him, noting her skirt.

"Alright, you go up first," he said with a nod of his head. He motioned to the ladder and took a step back, grinning at her teasingly. She did not have the best luck going first, and he was just being a jerk on purpose. He moved to hop onto the ladder, climbing up quickly. Some of the rocks chipped away, but it was sturdy.

There were no lights in the next room, and it seemed they were at the top as there were no more ladders or stairs. Not that he could see, anyway. He took a step forward and something lit up under his foot. Half a second later, some rocks fell on top of him and he barely got out of the way in time, his leg getting caught. Some of the rocks fell down the ladder.

She grimaced at Chaonis, shaking her head. She knew he was kidding, and waited until he was done teasing her and started to climb the ladder. She had just placed a hand on the ladder to start her own ascent when another rumbling sound above caused her pause. A few rocks tumbled down towards her, and she twisted out of the way, barely missing getting beaned in the head with yet another trap.

She put a hand to her chest, trying to calm her pounding heart. The rocks had knocked chunks out of the ladder and when Grus resumed climbing, she had to dodge a few missing rungs. Upon reaching the top, she noticed that the ground was littered with boulders. Chaonis was on the ground, which instantly sent her over to where he was, asking "Are you ok?" She gave him a once over, making sure nothing looked broken. When her eyes fell on his trapped leg, she asked "Is it broken?"

Chaonis looked a little dazed, though he was grinning. That had certainly been a thrill. There were plenty of reasons why he was the Senshi of Danger, surely, and one of them had to include the thrill he got when he very nearly got himself killed. Which happened a lot, really.

He should have been more concerned about that than he really was.

He was worried about Grus, though, and when she emerged from the ladder and came over to him he relaxed a little bit. Nothing, he hoped, that she might notice, though in the gloom his expression softened a bit as he looked at her. He nodded a few times, then shook his head a few times.

"No, I think it's fine. I think I'm fine. Yeah, totally. Just stuck." The rock was large, and he was not sure he would be able to move it. Maybe the two of them, they were two super powered badasses.

Right? Or they could just go home. Would his leg be stuck under something there?

He seemed a bit dazed, but Grus could definitely understand that. He just had rocks dumped on him! She turned her full attention to the one holding his leg, and she pushed on it experimentally. The boulder was quite large, but then she thought it had to be to keep an Eternal like Chaonis trapped. As she expected, it didn't budge when she pressed her palms against it.

"So you are gonna have to try and move your leg when I push it, or try and help me push it off you because I can't do it myself." She flattened her hands against the unyielding stone and readied herself. She pressed with all her might, wishing the stone to move.

Chaonis nodded his head, shifting a bit so he could try and push against the rock. With the two powered up beings pushing on it, it would have to give way. This rock was strange, however. It was heavier than it should have been, though there was no way of telling why without breaking off a chunk.

Which would be difficult to do, to say the least.

"Man this thing won't budge. Maybe we should just get out of here. I don't think my leg is broken under there, just pinned by the rocks. I dunno. It hurts but I can deal."

He shook his head.

"Can we just dial back, or will that leave my leg here?" He grinned. He still wasn't too sure about how it all worked. He never really researched anything before he did it, but he would not be Danger if he was careful.

The rock wouldn't budge. Grus groaned in frustration, pushing on the hard surface even after her senshi counterpart had stopped. Finally she exhaled, sliding down its surface and siting on the ground next to the pinned Chaonis. Her cheeks were red, and she was inhaling deeply to replace the oxygen she lost while trying to move the very stupid rock.

She brushed a trail of hair away from her eyes. "I don't know if the rock would come with us, or if your leg would stay here." she said, palm going to her chin and elbow perching on her knee in a classic thinking pose. "I would hope you wouldn't go all 'Harry Potter' if we went back and get spliced." She wasn't sure if the literary reference would be recognized or not. Besides vandalism, senshi-dom and paintballing, Grus wasn't sure just what Chaonis did with his free time. The feather senshi definitely doubted that reading was on that list though.

"Well." she finally said "I know you are quite the risk taker. So I'll leave it up to you. Find another way to get this rock off you, or teleport and hope it comes with us?"

Chaonis stared at her.

She had brought up a point he had not considered. Which happened a lot, and he needed people like her around, because he often did not consider everything. Or most things. Or anything. He was a bit of an idiot, all told, and was terrible at planning.

Would his leg stay here? Would the rock come with them? He was just assuming that he would just teleport himself back home, but then it did make sense that the rock might come because they could bring each other with them. But then, if he was sitting on a table when he teleported he didn't bring the table with him.

So maybe inanimate things didn't count?

He wasn't sure, and there was always only one way to test a theory as far as the senshi of Danger was considered. A truly scientific and profound test.

"Well, might as well try it, right?" He was pretty sure he would not be leaving his leg behind. Though she put that idea in his head now and he couldn't help but imagine fighting Chaos with one leg. That would just be embarrassing.

That was indeed truly scientific. Grus felt a familiar pang of uneasiness at the suggestion. She really didn't want to have to try and drag him to the hospital. But there seemed to be no other option, so she sighed and let her hands trail away from the rock.

"It's a shame that you didn't get any visions." she said while she touched his shoulder, awaiting the pull of magic that would take them home. It was said as almost an after thought. She was thinking of her own planet, and how she managed to get glimpses of her past life.

Chaonis frowned at his phone. He hesitated a moment before he punched in the numbers.

She had a good point. Why did he never get any visions when he came to this place? Was it some kind of fluke, like this wasn't really his planet and he was just teleporting to some other schmuck's land? That would suck, but then, he never saw anyone there save the person he brought with him at the time.

Clearly it wasn't that.

There had to be something else, something jarring his memories.

He didn't realize it, but the reason he didn't get memories on his home world was he had been there very little when he was young. He had been on many other worlds, training, learning, growing stronger. A dedicated warrior who had a small kingdom to guide. He would figure it out eventually.

Maybe.

He brought them back home, and was glad to find himself free of the rock. Though he was sore and it would be smart of him to go home and rest, he wasn't in any way broken. He looked at Grus, thoughtful, maybe even affected by her comment.

"Well... thanks for coming, I guess. I thought it would be cooler." Said the man who appreciated nothing unless it was clearly labeled as 'awesome'.

She felt the familiar pull of magic and sent one last little prayer to whatever God watched over senshi to keep Chaonis intact when they reached the other side. When they landed, she hesitated to open her eyes. Chaonis wasn't screaming, so it must be ok.

She peeked through her lashes to find Chaonis in one piece. His leg didn't look crushed, or even broken but hen, Grus wasn't sure how much damage was covered by the armor he wore. She wanted to make sure he was ok, but she definitely couldn't do like she would with her younger brother and tackle him to the ground to make sure. Just the thought was enough to make her blush.

Grus found she couldn't read her fellow senshi's face. Did he seem...disappointed? Angry? Or just full of thoughts? Her face turned to one that she hoped was reassuring and not totally condescending.

"It was certainly interesting!" She said, attempting to brush the dirt that coated her fuku from top to bottom off of her skirt. She figured it would fix itself up, but that didn't stop her from desperately wanting a shower. He still looked a little bummed to her, and she placed a hand on his shoulder. It might have be reassuring if she weren't so much shorter than Chaonis.

"Don't worry about the whole not seeing anything...thing." she finished lamely, removing her hand from his shoulder and tucking it behind her back. "I don't think it means you are less of a senshi. I certainly don't think so."

"Have a good night. And get ice on that leg. Being trapped under a rock can't have done it any good." She turned to leave, feeling mildly anxious.

"It's a dust ball full of traps," he complained, though he should have appreciated it more. They had discovered a lot more there than he had on any previous trip, and he was interested in going back. When he leg felt less like one giant bruise, of course.

And maybe his pride stopped hurting.

He was embarrassed by the whole thing. He looked at Grus and thought he saw mockery in her gaze, though he was mistaken. He didn't understand her efforts to be compassionate, and he grumped as he looked away.

When she put her hand on his shoulder, though, he had to look at her again. He sighed and, for once, just looked like a regular guy. No grin, no teasing, no overbearing cockiness. He looked disappointed. And maybe a little guilty.

"Yeah, alright," he said lowly, nodding his head. Maybe it didn't make him less of a senshi, but it certainly didn't make him more of one. He watched her as she turned to leave, appreciating her company and her efforts to make him feel better. He didn't deserve it, really, since he was always a jerk. He sighed and then refilled his lungs with a deep breath before he said, "Thanks for coming with me."

Then he turned to walk off as quickly as his injured leg would take him. Because he could not make eye contact after that.
