Mocha watched him stretch and for a moment felt herself become overcome with mimicry much like a kitten. She stretched much in the same way he had. She supposed he was limbering his limbs before their journey and didn't want to waste the opportunity to do the same.
Once her stretch was done, she stepped up beside him coolly, flicking her bobbed tail in somewhat eager anticipation. Oh if only her Human were here to see her about to go on an adventure with a strange Tom...
Then again... she was thankful her Human wasn't around... The joyous squeals that woman would produce would certainly embarrass her beyond the point of wanting to lay in her lap later on that night. She shuddered at the thought that followed - the one that heard her Human squealing then mentioning something about being impatient to hear the pitter patter of little paws...
No.
Not gonna happen.
She puffed slightly, now forever grateful that her Human wasn't within eyesight. She was about to do something daring and bold and completely out of her norm if only to better herself as a Neko. To prepare herself for something that may not ever happen, but with the threat still there, what choice did she have.
She looked over to Shil'Ta and blinked. "So. Where are we going first?"

Shil'Ta joyously flicked his long tail; savouring the sun on his fur, the feeling of a new acquaintance, and the pleasure of being moving, travelling, and sharing some of what he knew with another. He pondered that he should probably start with some of the more... pleasant places he knew of. This curious female wasn't looking out of necessity, or need; she would likely not enjoy slinking around in the dust and shadows to try and snatch a few morsels.
Actually, Shil'Ta pondered, he had no idea why she was so interested. He couldn't imagine that his small speech of freedom had made her crave adventure so much- especially the way she had described being pampered, cared for, and looked after. Such was world's away from what she seemed to want to know, see and experience. He turned his head to look at her, before slightly shrugging his muscled shoulders. It didn't really matter to him; company was company, and it seemed like pleasant enough company at that. If she had a motive beyond the simplest curiosity, he was sure it would come out in time.
He took a couple of small steps, setting their course and waiting for her to fall in beside him before he would let his body fall into a natural, comfortable gait- although he would have to be sure it was comfortable for her, as well. "We'll head through the nearest set of houses- some of the richer ones are just a couple of streets away. If you're really interested in seeing what's out there, stay alert- look for signs of food, of excess, of waste." He shook his head, letting out a noise that was a cross between a snort of distaste and a chuckle of amusement. "Goodness knows humans are experts at creating excess and waste." Which, admittedly, was lucky for those on the streets; but still it bothered him.

She fell in step beside him like a well fit collar. Each stride matching his to a tea.
Off to their right some ways Mocha caught a glimpse of her Human beginning to pack up her things, but she steeled herself and pressed on, following Shil'Ta's lead with determination. Her Human knew that if Mocha wasn't around to follow her home, she'd come back on her own later that evening. It wasn't the first time that has had to happen.
She purred faintly as they continued on and out of the park, venturing further out into the unknown than Mocha had ever dared... but she didn't seem scared or bothered by it. She had a new friend to show her around. He seemed to know his way and by the sounds of it, knew the layout of the entire city as if it were the back of his paw!
Her ears flickered to focus on Shil'Ta as he began to speak. A smile spread over her maw as he talked of the houses. The ones they immediately encountered were much like the ones she lived in on the other side of the park from here. But her interest peeked a bit when he made mention of the more wealthy variety. She felt suddenly rather intrigued to figure out just how an excessively pampered Maneki would live, but she assumed she'd have to follow his lead for the time being.
His next comment brought her lip up in a sneer, however.
"Are you talking about the garbage?" her whiskers flickered in the sunlight with mild distaste. "Most Humans, perhaps... My Human is a bit of an Earth nut. She recycles and never lets anything go to waste."
"Our neighbors on the other hand." She visibly shuddered at the mere thought. "Now there's a pair of humans that will easily lay waste to something that can be reused..." She made a face - scrunching up her nose, squinting one eye and lolling her tongue for an added effect - to express her thoughts on the subject. "You can always smell their garbage days before the Trucks come to claim it."

"Yeeees." The fur on Shil'Ta's hackles fluffed up slightly in irritation. "To waste so much- to throw away food that some poor, hungry being could make good use of, or something that could- and should- be returned to the earth..."
He let out a rough little sigh and shook his head, setting his collar bell jingling lightly. "I suppose there's no point getting worked up about it. And it feeds the hungry on the streets- although it would be easier if the best of the waste was given to them." Shil'Ta realised his tail was swishing from side to side in irritation, and forced it to slow, repeating to himself his own point of not getting worked up over something he couldn't control. Besides, he didn't want to worry his companion.
In a lighter tone he spoke. "The place I'm taking you is the house of a rich and affectionate old woman... We might be unlucky and she wants to keep us, pet us and fuss over us for hours." He chuckled. "When she's home she's a real blessing to the Maneki Neko on the street- she loves the company as well. It's this way." He turned to a wall, gathered himself, and with a soft noise of effort he threw his heavy body at it; catching hold of the top he used claw and muscle to pull his large frame up. The top was wide enough to balance with ease, and he turned to look down at her and wait for her to join him. "It's not too far."

Mocha let out an audible trill of a purr at his profound agreement to humans being wasteful creatures. She even chuckled a bit. "Well, the next time my Human has cooked more than she can handle, I'll suggest it the idea of feeding the roamers of the night with it instead."
Her tail twitched in delight at the idea. "She'd more than willingly oblige, I'd think..."
"Besides..." she continued as they rounded a corner. "She has more than enough compost with which to fertilize her foliage for at least another three seasons!" she giggled.
Her ears then perked at the mention of an old lady!
OH! Happy day! Old women were perhaps the most delightful of company! Always eager to offer a gentle petting and kind attention! Not like children who were often far too rough and wanting to play. How Shil'Ta spoke of her, brought her even more joy and anticipation to meet such a human.
When Shil'Ta scaled the wall, she blinked and watched him a moment, making sure there was plenty of room for him to maneuver up there before crouching and shifting her weight to spring up there to meet him. Seeing the effort he put into the leap, she made sure to put forth a great deal for herself and launched herself up there with a great amount of ease.
Once balanced atop the wall, she exhaled and looked down. She idly wondered if this is what it would look like from the branches of a tree, but kept her curiosity at bay for now and looked to Shil'Ta to lead the rest of the way to their destination.

Shil'Ta gave a small smile which exposed one shining tooth at Mocha's pleasure and laughter. He was pleased by her pleasure; sure that his company must be contributing, or at the very least not detracting from her pleasure, and he was glad that was the case. He took a moment to look at her happy face before turning and walking confidently along the wall, tail held high, the tip lightly flicking from side to side in time with his step.
He crossed to another wall in this manner; making his way to the wall which backed the large garden of the elderly lady they were to visit. It wasn't too far, and he was cautiously pleased to see signs of habitation- and, he realised a moment later, more. The lady herself, elegant even in her frail years, was sat on a tastefully carved bench, her stick leaning against her legs.
"There she is!" He wasn't sure if his words were necessary; but he didn't give Mocha much time to respond, simply flashing her a quick grin before looking over the edge of the wall to the grass beyond. He carefully lowered his front paws over the edge; walking them down with his back paws teetering on the edge as he carefully lowered himself a little, before letting his back paws rock forwards so he fell. As controlled as it was from the tree earlier, he hit the ground just as hard; his legs bending to avoid injury and his body moving forwards with the momentum. He used it to turn and look back up at Mocha; making sure she was okay, and making sure she still wanted to come.

She purred softly and blinked at Shil'Tah as he smiled at her before quickly falling into step behind him along the top of the walls.
As they traveled, her eyes flitted about their surroundings, taking in each sight eagerly. The yards here were bright and green, littered with beautiful foliage - enough to make her own Human jealous - and they were all remarkably kept! She smiled at the thought of her Human missing out on such a sight.
It wasn't until Shil'Ta stopped and mentioned that the old lady was around did she perk her full attention to where his eyes were focused. Her tail flicked in mild delight and she watched as he seemed to shimmy a bit down the wall before falling to land on the ground. Much like he had earlier that day in the park! He seemed to be an expert at this...
Taking a moment to gather herself, she took a deep breath and attempted to match his movements. Her front paws inched down the wall a bit and hind quarters shimmied slightly before she fell, landing safely on all fours upon the ground Although she lacked in the amount of experience he presently had, she seemed to do rather well at mimicking him.
Once hitting the ground, she exhaled - only having just realized she was holding her breath to begin with - and smiled with a delighted glance about her surroundings. She spotted the old lady and nodded to Shil'Ta. Ohhhh the things she will experience! She couldn't wait to get home to her Human and tell her of her adventures later!
