Post 300 CoverFossil: 18 "Sure." Chael would reply to both questiones. Argos walked behind Chael, glowing, only to stop evolution yet again. He was checking his Pokedex for Aiden's move set. The only moves Chael needed now were TMs. Aiden could learn a Grass type move; Grass Knot. Well that took care of all his weaknesses. Then with Flamethrower, he was all good. But he'd wait a bit to evolve the monkey. Thinking about it, Chael said "I've actually been wanting to meet that older, snotty girl that kicked Argos." Argos wouldn't hide his sneer. The girl Belle had given him another scar. Shaming Cinderella, by being beaten by a commoner was what she needed. Tsuki, seeing Gage, barked. (( I'm all over with this post, so please excuse me while I catch Nolan up to where I want him to be. )) Thinking for a moment after Chael expressed what he wanted to do, and again noticing that Argos was holding back evolution for some reason, Nolan said, "How about this? We'll drop into the gym too to let them know that we'd like a battle soon. I'm not exactly ready, because I want to make sure Ninjask is up to it, but the rest of mine should be good to go with their moves. But I have a feeling it's going to take awhile to get in contact with the gym leader in Addobe." Nolan paused, getting his thoughts in line again. "So you can hang out with me today, get in some extra practice, since I've never battled with Ninjask since he evolved. I'll grab some food for you too, and if the gym still isn't ready by tomorrow, we can start a search for that girl meanwhile? Ninjask could help you find her fast, and even send her a letter for a rematch. Well, hold that thought, let me go get the food first. I'll be right back." Not knowing that Des was in town already, Nolan went about with his plans. A surprise though was running into Gage, the man seeming desperate as he had quickly explained the problem with his Eevee and the lack of a Soothe Bell. Well, Nolan didn't need his, and he thought a Helix Fossil was more than a fair trade if the man didn't come back at all. But a poor judge of character, and a poor judge of even trades, Nolan really was that gullible to think that of course Gage would return with his Soothe Bell like he said he would. And heading into the cafeteria, that was where Nolan ran into the Ranger. "Hey, Lukas! You sure did catch up quickly." Nolan smiled warmly, and already had a question for Des. "Do Bug/Flying types have any trouble with Ground types? Oh wait, I had something for you, and I hope you'll take it. I'm not sure what I would do with it anyway, since I have all the pokemon I'll ever need." If that wasn't enough lead up, Nolan held out the Master Ball he found, giving it to Des if he wanted it. Post 301 CoverFossil: 19 Tsuki let the man Gage go. They were bound to run into him again. Chael decided to at least warn Nolan about him. He'd wait until they were at the beach, where Gage couldn't step in, saying Chael was lying about him. The older boy seemed like the gullible sort. His Umbreon would return playing with Valor. The chances of the gym being ready was minute in its own. Whether or not they were going slow, they had been going TOO fast for the system. It should've taken them an extra week and a half to get here. Hikari merely watched her counterpart in ammusment, not knowing why he was so angered when the man with the head piece walked on by. Des noticed Nolan approaching him after the boy called out to him and turned his head to look at the boy. "Are you sure you just didn't spend too much time sleeping in?" he chuckled. Hearing the boy's question, he shook his head. "Flying-types are immune to Ground-type attacks, regardless of subtype." he said. He then watched as Nolan pulled out a Master Ball. Wha... how did... Was he...? He looked up at the boy, then smiled a rare faint smile. "Thanks... I'll treasure it." he said, taking the ball from him. "I've got something to teach one of your Pokemon too, for this upcoming gym battle. Who do you plan on bringing with you?" 75

"We were out all night, so we only got about six hours of sleep. I'll be fine though." Nolan noticed the smile, and knowing that he had finally proved that he had some worth, one thing that had been bothering him for awhile was that the Ranger had never asked for anything in return. Even if Des did get some giggles and sick kicks out of torturing the teenage boy, Nolan was absorbing all of the nuggets of wisdom like a sponge. And learning lessons the hard way was a way to get to him fast. "Um, that Yamask I ran into in the Ruins was throwing it at me. I don't know where it got it, but Chael told me Masterballs were really rare since they always caught something. Except, I didn't need to tell you that, heh." Laughing nervously, he ducked his head a little. "I was planning to let my Hippopotas have a break since she fought in both of my last gym battles. Des nodded as he bagged the Master Ball. "Master Balls will catch anything without fail. The only ways you can get one of these is either by digging them up in the Ruins or by defeating the Elite Four and becoming the Champion. The only time they will fail is against Legendary Pokemon for some reason, even though they're supposed to be successful against any Pokemon. I guess Silph Co. needs to work on their rates a tad more." After hearing Nolan's line-up for the gym, he nodded. "You're in luck. I swung by the Pokemart to pick up some TMs for my Pokemon and two of the three you listed are compatible with learning these attacks. I can teach Energy Ball to your Servine and either X-Scissor or U-turn to your Ninjask. I unfortunately don't have anything for your Gyarados, but since he's part Flying he should be safe against Ground attacks anyway. If I remember correctly, I think he's gonna learn some moves to help against the Gym over the next couple of levels. Anyway, which of those three TMs you want them to learn?" 76

(( That Master Ball is so incredibly dangerous in the hands of a Team Celestia Admin that I just couldn't resist.Besides, I meant what I said, I appreciate Nolan getting the help, and I don't have a need for the Master Ball. Other than catching an Axew later on, Nolan's team is full. )) "Um ... hey there, Chael. Sorry, I ran into Lukas again." But still thinking about which move he thought was better, Nolan knew he could rule out Servine for now since between her Mega Drain and Leech Life, he bet she was never going to go down out of a fight unless she was at an extreme disadvantage. But that left Ninjask. X-Scissor was a solid move, yet knowing that Ninjask was frail from his pokedex stats, Nolan didn't have to think much more on it. "I think U-Turn is a better move to teach Ninjask. Then I can keep him in a fight for longer, and Gyarados and Servine can both take a licking and keep on ticking. Heh, Haunter humor there." Stopping for a second, Nolan realized something. He had left all his pokemon outside, and Chael was here inside with him, so they were outside without any human supervision. A jolt of a panic ran through him when he saw Dosu peeking in through a window for the trainer. "Be right back!" Bolting off, Nolan was there one second, and flying around the corner the next, going outside to recall all his pokemon so they were safe-and-sound with him. Only then did he sneak back inside, wondering if he should lie or not. He decided not. "Sorry, I left my pokemon outside, but I was only planning to be in here for a minute or so, and I don't think anyone's as stupid to attack a full team with a Gyarados. I hope ... anyway. Nolan decided to go with U-turn on his Ninjask, then bolted off outside. Jeez, it hadn't even been 24 hours yet and the boy had already left at least one of his Pokemon without supervision twice. Fortunately, it looked like he had caught onto his mistake, and so handed the ball over to Des. Pulling the disc out from the TM case, he let the Ninjask out of the ball before placing the CD on his head. There was a faint glow from the item, stating that it had done its job, and he placed it back into the case before returning the Bug to Nolan. "All done." 77

Post 303 CoverFossil: 21 Nodding to Lukas, Chael stroked the Rattata on his shoulder's fur. Yeah, he planned to keep on training this Rattata. She was like... in the top percentage. Only Tsuki didn't listen to Chael, having returned with Nolan's team. He had been preoccupied with playing tag with Valor. "Does any other gym have another type of battle besides three on three single?" Chael asked. Fighting in the same pattern would end up getting seriously old. Maybe this one would be a double battle instead. (( Oh no, I broke the system. My insane luck and two Master Balls have made them BANNED FROM THE RUINS! I personally would have loved a Aerodactyl instead, but noooo. )) Nolan wondered for a moment if it was a good idea of taking U-turn over X-Scissor, but oh well, he wasn't going to go back on his decision now. He was just naturally being wishy-washy. Once he got his pokemon back, Nolan carefully reached out to pat Ninjask on the head. Thankfully, the bug still remembered Nolan's kindness from when he was a Nincada and accepted the head-pat. However, did not look to enjoy it, much too serious for such childish things. Of course, Nolan was grateful, and thought to bring up his own TMs. All of them could just help each other out. "Thank you! Um, I have Acrobatics, Return, Flash Cannon, Bulldoze, Thunder Wave, and Swords Dance, if you wanted any of those moves for your pokemon." And now, remembering something he did want to change, Nolan glanced over at Chael, "Actually, I think I want to teach Servine Hidden Power instead of Slam, if you're still okay with that. It'd stay with Bruce at least. Thinking, he added "After this gym, lets get back to the ruins. I want to get the Scald and Grass Knot TMs. Apparently Aiden can learn a grass type move." Hearing Chael's question, Des pondered for a bit. "That's up to the Gym Leader. The only reason why it's still 3-on-3 single right now is because it's only the second gym. You're going to be facing more Pokemon further down the line, ones that are TM-trained to counter whatever you throw at them. I think Genesia's gym is a 5-on-5 single battle, but I'm honestly not sure about the others because most of the Leaders still haven't been picked or gotten their League Pokemon yet." He then shook his head at Nolan. "Thanks for the offer, but my team looks good for now. Maybe once I pick up some new Pokemon to raise I'll consider it." he said. He pushed his plate aside after he patted his mouth clean with a napkin before he got up. "So what now?" 78

Eagerly waiting to get Servine back, Nolan thanked Chael properly as well when his friend taught his Grass Snake Hidden Power. It certainly would come in handy, not that Nolan knew it was a Fighting type move for her. How fitting. But then Nolan also wondered if he should do something nice for Chael while he was at it. That was going to take more thought. When Des asked his question, Nolan nodded towards Chael, and pointed a thumb over his shoulder. "Chael and I was going to the beach to see what's out there, then probably just hang out until nightfall unless the gym leader gets back to use quickly about a challenge. Chael wants to challenge some trainers and head back again to the Ruins if it's going to take awhile. I might stay, because first, I'm going to let Dosu get out and really stretch. He's been cramped on land ever since he evolved, and I want to give him a chance to bulk up for the gym battle. Servine and Dosu haven't had a chance to seriously fight yet, so I don't want to mess it up." "I don't know if you want to come with us. I plan on just letting my pokemon play around, and not really do any hard training except for Servine. They deserve it, and so does Servine." In the end, he decided there was nothing wrong with letting Jaws stretch his sea legs for a bit. "Alright. I'll tag along for a bit.
