D'lin and Plexith arrived just as the green charge on egg cracked open. The little green that appeared was on her way to the girls when they landed, Plexith, who always did have a soft spot for the young was crooning his encouragement and all but ignoring his rider in his excitement. D'lin simply shook his head in amusement before patting the bronze shoulder and sauntering off to join some of the other riders.
'That is a very small blue' Plexith remarked as he paused his crooning to study the new arrival and D'lin paused to study him 'small maybe..but he looks healthy enough, standing up like that' D'lin responded, shading his eyes slightly against the morning sun so that he could see better. In all truthfulness the entire clutch looked to be a bit on the small side - and he didn't hold out much hope for any browns or bronzes in the batch..still healthy dragons were healthy dragons, small or not and all would be important someday - some of them might even fly in his wing. That thought alone was enough to make D'lin pay extra attention to this hatching.
****************************************************************************************
Eliza was soooo excited..she was all but bouncing in place as Velath descended towards the weyrbowl 'Are we late?!? Have some of them already hatched?!?' She asked Velath as they circled to look for a landing place. 'A green and a tiny blue' Velath informed her rider before diving to snatch a landing spot before another late arrival stole it.
"Oh my it is small" Eliza remarked as she slid off her green and got her first look at the newly hatched dragons. "That green looks pretty spunky though"
****************************************************************************************
Cheryth and Ca'mil made an unhurried arrival, they had seen many hatchings now and while yes they were exciting and it was certainly nice to see the new arrivals impress they were also aware that these sort of things took a bit of time and really there was no need to rush.
Gently landing beside a green the crimson flicked her scarred wings and squinted at the newly hatched dragons on the sand. 'Such small eggs..poor Brakiath' The crimson remarked with a sigh.
"Small perhaps..but you were a small egg too dear heart and look how you turned out" Ca'mil reminded her lifemate, a comment to which the Crimson paused to consider.

Dizzian had already been up an about having drawn breakfast duty. As the thrumming shook the Weyr her two flits burst into the air about her heads chittering with excitement. "Now?!" Dizzian's heart began to race as she ripped off the apron and used it to dry her sudsy hands. Tweaker and Spazz followed her with trills and thrums, singing their own welcome song, infected by their bonded's anxiety. Dizzian was glad that she'd chosen to wear sandals this day she didn't have time to stop by the barracks and grab a pair. She bolted straight for the Hatching Sands and the Candidatemaster. She took a deep breath and donned her robe with the ease of a task preformed many times before. Taking Tweaker and Spazz on her arm she gave them the silent command to 'Stay Away' while she was on the Grounds. The two chirped and with eyes whirling they soared into the air, joining the fair already swirling overhead.
Dizzian strode onto the hot sands, bowing deeply to Brakiath as she lined up with the girls. She tried to calm her heart and mind but it was only moments after she took her place that the Charge On egg well...took charge! Dizzian was certainly surprised to see the spunky green roll out of it's shell. Dizzian held her place as she looked on hopefully.
.......
Ailin followed the rush of people as the dragons thrummed their welcome. He'd not been at the Weyr long but there was no mistaking the signs of a Hatching. He'd only just finished his breakfast and as he was ushered into a robe and onto the sands his thoughts were with his flute, tucked into Niyx's hidey-hole. Hopefully with all the Candidates here, no one would be poking around where they didn't belong.
Even the hatching of the first dragons wasn't quite enough to draw his mind from his precious instrument. Though he couldn't deny awe at the spectacle. He shifted from side to side, having forgotten how intensely warm the sands of the Hatching Grounds were. Ailin looked around for his bunkmate, wishing they could have stood side by side. It would have been nice to have his one friend there to guide him.

The steps grew more determined, more sure as she continued on, her head rising and a determined expression on her newborn face. Hers was HERE she was sure of it! Calling out, she flapped her wings to little effect and stumbled on through the first row of girls, ignoring most of them completely.
The Blue, however, snorted at his sister's hurried gait and took his time in picking his way through the eggs and out onto the sand. Dainty and lean, he almost seemed too light to disturb the sand as he kept his gaze up and headed to the boys, peering at one then another but inevitably moving on.

This time, Nawa had placed herself carefully at the back of the group of girls; while it meant she couldn't see particularly well, and had to stand on her tiptoes and peek between other Candidates, it placed her a little further away from the newly-hatched dragonets. After getting clawed twice at the last Hatching, she had absolutely no intentions of repeating the experience. So far, though, these hatchlings didn't seem too bad... So far.
As the green began to go through the girls, she kept a wary eye out just in case.

Roeline was sure to step out of the green's way, not wanting to impede her finding of Hers. In the meantime, it seemed that the blue was carefully looking over the boys. She almost had to wonder if the dragon might pick someone small like him so that they could fly together more easily as a nice lean pair up in the sky. Ah, so much fun stuff for them to look forward to~ heart Even if she didn't Impress in this Hatching, she would be quite happy for all the rest who did. And she would soooo be asking to greet their dragons after. She was quite eager to see a few of the more fun eggs that she had felt start to hatch.

Pipith, as he always did when attending a Hatching, had a pointedly disinterested air. Oh, he hummed and he watched, but he half-pretended he didn't care one way or the other, mostly out of vague irritation that whatever clutch it was wasn't his. That irritation was a little fainter this time, since there weren't very many eggs, and they were all small. Very small.
Look at that scraggly little blue.
Hey now, be nice. You used to be a scraggly little bronze.
Pipith's eyes whirled unhappy colors at his rider's reminder. References to his size, whether about his current or hatchling self, always bothered him. I grew out of it.
Sort of.

They had been there from the start, watching their senior Queen quietly and warily. Narisa felt her heart constrict every time she looked towards Brakiath. It unnerved her to see the Gold as she was, especially with her rider still in the unknown state she was. The young goldrider couldn't lie that she was worried about how this hatching might go. She didn't think Brakiath would do anything to the hatchlings. But the Candidates...? They better not do anything stupid and foolish. Or they might lose more than just a little dignity.
There was still fear in her for what was going to happen to Abigail. And another growing fear the hatchlings. Would they all be alright? There weren't that many eggs, but then she only had her first hatching to compare it too.
Look, Narisamine! The first hatchling. She is a strong one. A good sign. Cepheith gently rubbed her snout against Narisa, humming pleasantly when Hers leaned against her. We mustn't focus on negatives. Look! Another hatches! The gold crooned encouragingly towards the little ones, eyes an excited blue.
Narisa felt her lips curling into a smile as her gaze fell on the green that basically exploded out of her shell. Cepheith was right. That was a good sign. And the green looked healthy and feisty. The little blue looked small, though. But he was walking along just fine. Perhaps he'd just be one of the tiny blues? She shook her head, watching as each hatchling hunted among the Candidates.

See? I told you we were gunna be late, G'brel complained as she took her seat in the Stands, only to see that there were already two dragonets out on the Sands-- one of them being a very tiny blue at that. D'aaaaw, he's so small! Look Lifth, you're bigger than someone.
You're hardly one to talk, the blue responded with a snort, watching the hatchlings below. I'm not that small.
No, but you're not big either.
Your point?
No point. Just commenting~
... The blue shook his head. His could be so odd at times...

Syn had hurried to the hatching from her morning chores along with the other candidates. She had just begun to help prepare breakfast in the kitchens when she had been informed of the hatching. She had barely had time to grab a piece of fruit before heading to the hatching grounds. Quickly, Syn had eaten the fruit as she hurried along, barely taking breaths between bites. She had known she wouldn't have much time at all to eat and she hadn't. Before she knew it she had been lined up with the other girls out on the sands, waiting for the eggs to hatch.
Quietly, Syn stood on the sands, examining each of the eggs, looking for any sign of which one might be next to hatch. As the first two began to crack, she examined them. The blue looked quite small, she thought. Although she knew that size wasn't always all that it was cracked up to be. She would have looked him over longer, but spotted the green making her way towards the girls and she watched curiously, wondering who she might pick.

The Green continued on through the girls and perked when she at last spotted Hers. All but running through the sand, she hurried along, almost bumping into Nawa as the girl shied away, and reared up to place her hands on the girl's thighs, big eyes whirling red and green and blue with hunger. Dizzianmine, your Courath knew you were here! Take Yours to eat now?The blue glanced over as his sister impressed and cocked his head to the side, looking thoughtful for a moment before turning back to the boys. He peered at Ailin for a while before shaking his head and moving on, a pleasant swing in his step that showed he was merely taking his time. He paused, however, as the eggs began to rattle and rock in earnest. The Quiet Pool egg split slowly down the middle and a leg pushed forth. It had sat off to the side but now it seemed the quiet, observant egg would like to look on with its own eyes. A green slowly emerged, tossing her head and mewling as she freed herself from shell and goo alike.

Oh good! It looked like the green had finally found Hers. The young Candidate's attention was drawn away from the newly bonded pair, however, by the hatching of yet another egg. Oh hey, another green! Well, perhaps that wasn't too much of a surprise given the sizes of the eggs in the clutch, but still. She was curious to see where this girl might head off to.

'it looks as though the green has impressed' Plexith informed his rider when the little beast jumped up on one of the candidates and D'lin laughed a bit 'yes she certainly made her choice known now didn't she?'
The little blue had yet to choose but he did not seem to be distressed so D'lin wasn't all that worried - he'd seen many hatchings where the dragons had taken their time for one reason or another. They generally seemed to be a bit more upset when something was wrong or they were about to between. And then another green was making an appearance, mewling a bit but otherwise healthy looking.

Aislin had never been much of a morning person. This day was just like any other, with her being slow and trying to wake up before she attempted to do any chores. She had no intention of being asleep on the job, after all. So when the humming had begun and the candidatemaster's cries reached her ears, she had her boots only half on. Oh. Well, now she had to really hurry! Wait..what? Sapphire eyes blinked before she shoot up straight in the air, two almost identical squeals of displeasure followed her and she quickly turned to soothe the brown and black who were curled up on her furs. "Sorry!" She murmured to the both of them, not even blinking as the black grumbled more as he resettled himself. "Yeah, yeah. Go ahead a sleep in."
She had always found it odd that they'd have to wear sandals for Impressions. But traditions were there for a reason; or so her father said. Shaking the strange thoughts from her mind, she started walking towards the exit of the barracks while pulling her hair back to be tied up. Aislin did not want her hair all over the place while standing there in the hot sands. Was it strange that she wasn't as nervous as some were? Eying the other candidates who assembled around them, she didn't bother offering any sort of greetings or wishes of luck. She was beginning to focus on Impressing. No matter what color, she did not want to leave those sands until she had a dragon all her own.
And of course almost as soon as they arrived and positioned themselves, two eggs hatched. Aislin couldn't help but feel those bubbles of excitement in her chest as she tried to hide the wide grin from her face. A green was first; though she seemed a bit unsteady at first, she quickly caught her balance and started heading to the females. It seemed she might just be the first dragon to Impress!
Then a blue! He was somewhat on the small side though, hopefully that wouldn't mean much. He'd most likely grow over time. Even as small as he was, the blue was still a handsome dragon. Oh..wait! The green had Impressed! How adorable!
And then there was another green. Shifting her stance in the sands, Aislin crossed her hands behind her back and bit down on her lip. She couldn't wait to see the rest of this clutch. It was already so exciting!

'Another green' Velath exclaimed in excitement, humming rapidly as she encouraged her new brethren to fin their's. It was exciting this first hatching since they themselves had bonded and she was completely focused on taking it all in.
'Yes, I do hope the blue finds his though' Eliza responded shewing on a fingernail as she watched anxiously, it was always nerve wracking when they too their time like this - she was always afraid that they would end up going between.

Oh goodness! Shy away Nawa did, unwilling to take any chances this time. Though this particular hatchling didn't seem to be aggressive, she didn't entirely trust any of them. She breathed a sigh of relief when the green found Hers, and went back to standing properly, as though nothing at all had happened.
