So much fear, and anxiety over the water. Annjette couldn't understand, and yet a part of her was drawn to these feelings. Seemed to feed off of it and ... enjoy it. Annjette frowned at that feeling unable to really vocalize what was happening. She couldn't begin to describe what it was.
"Do you trust me, Rojiza?" He asked calmly, unaware for the moment of Annjette's troubles since she did not say anything to him. He was trying to also keep Rojiza's mind off of Kale's current panicky actions.
Annjette swam a bit closer to the land, she had to get out, this was becoming overwhelming.

Rojiza nods, trying not to hear Kale. Caroline smiles at Annjette. "Want to come sit with me, ye wee waterwing?" she asks.

Voltaire nodded, "Then let go of me. I'll hold on to you, I promise." He glanced around at a moment just to see where Annjette was and found her near Caroline.
Annjette nodded and sat next to Caroline looking somewhat disturbed. She was glad to be out of the water, she didn't to get that lost again. The lack of self control bothered her greatly.
Satisfied Annjette was at least safe he looked back to Rojiza, "Don't mind the fox-boy. The water is not your enemy."
At least he had never known it to be an enemy, "With water the earth can blossom." He added sagely. Voltaire wasn't sure why he had said it but he did. He was trying to ease Rojiza's anxiety.

Rojiza looks over at the ground. Blossom? She could relate to that, the blossoming and growing of the earth. She lets loose her near death grip on Voltaire's shirt, trusting that he'll keep hold of her. Caroline smiles at Annjette and pets her head. "Little too much water for the first day?" she inquires smilingly. "I know any water 'sides a brisk bucketful dumped over my head is too much." She smiles broadly.

Marissa struggles with her son, to no avail. He will not touch the river surface. His tail bristles and his ears flatten against his head.
The mother of the difficult child runs her hand over her head in exasperation. He'd never liked baths- but this was ridiculous. She looks to other parents in a silent cry for assistance.

"Why dinna you let wee Kale come set with Annjette and I?" calls Caroline. "Rojiza's having her own swimming lesson just now...perhaps after Kale sees that it -can- be done, then he'll be a wee bit more willing to brave the water. For now he can come over here with the landlubber." She grins warmly.

He was glancing over at Marissa, but it seemed that Caroline had a hold of the situation so he returned his attention to Rojiza and smiled.
"Good, just relax. There is nothing to fear here. I won't let anything happen to any of you." Voltaire seemed to think a bit, "What to teach you first? Perhaps how to float in the water?" Voltaire didn't wish to drag Rojiza into anything she didn't feel ready for.
Annjette merely shrugged at Caroline and then shook her head she didn't mind the water, it's just...Something seemed wrong with her today, but she wasn't sure how to explain it, "Dark," she simply said and glanced from Kale to Rojiza and back again.

|Ro is now green. ^^| Rojiza nods simply.
"Dark?" inquires Caroline of Annjette, tipping her head.

Marissa thinks it a good idea and carries Kale to where Caroline is. She tries to set him down where the water laps his ankles, but he squeals in protest, so she puts him on the sand. She then sits down next to Caroline, shaking her head as the cool water chills her legs. Hopefully seeing his mother in the water will be an incentive to convince him to venture out, as well. The gypsy strikes up merry conversation.
"Why Anjette, you looked just lovely swimming about on your own like that," she says with a kind smile, absently wondering about the infant's "dark" comment (but secretly hoping Kale didn't hear- he needn't get the wrong idea, now!).

Caroline smiles at Kale and pats his head affectionately. She nods at Marissa and strikes up a conversation right back.

Annjette just nodded at Caroline, unable to explain it in any depth. Damn lack of words. Annjette giggled at Marissa, "Swim fun, water feels nice. Why Kale not like water?" Might as well investigate the cause of Kale's fear, which she couldn't quite understand.
Voltaire smiled and nodded, "Right then," with that he picked Rojiza up and made to cradle her, if she allows him to.
"I'm going to lay you back on the water and you just relax. I won't let the water take you anywhere." He reminded her before flowering her into the water.

Rojiza nods, trembling. She trusts him, but....man that water looks fast. She allows him to cradle her, feeling midly comforted.

Kale, amidst his noisy protests, hears Anjette speak to him and quiets. When faced with her question, he is at a loss. The water just...frightens him. He likes warm things, hot things. Things that change and move and have dimension. Things that have secrets. The water has no secrets. You can see straight to the bottom it is so clear...such bluntness makes him wary. He's afraid of being swept away by its rashness.
Not able to vocalize any of this, he simply looks at Anjette and whimpers.

Annjette stared at him, through him and into him for a long moment before getting up to move a bit closer to him, "Water is illusion." She hadn't read his mind, but it almost seemed as she did. It was as if he read his fear, the thing that opresses him and makes his world dark and dreary, "Not all is as seems in water. You try catch fish, but sometimes miss." To the girl the illusion definition made most sense, "Maybe scared of that?"
She was merely guessing at why he feared the water, and she wanted that fear gone.
The girl tapped her chin before raising one of her feathered arms and plucking a feather with a small flinch crossing her face, "To Kale, I give a lucky charm. With it he need fear nothing! Want?" She offered the feather to him. To Annjette the pain of a feather plucked meant nothing as long as her friend could find the bravery to face his fears, "Fear holds back people. No fear among friends. Yes?"
Meanwhile Voltaire laid Rojiza on the water careful to not let the water sweep the girl from his grasp, "Just relax, and if you relax you'll float. It'll be like a magic trick.

Kale watches Anjette silently, listening to the calming lull of her words. He doesn't understand her quite, but somehow her words are comforting. And her gesture of kindness intrigues him. His eyes grow wide at the sight of the soft, shiny object...how he wants it! But Anjette is in the water...shallow water, but water nonetheless. He debates his feelings fiercely.
Slowly, shakily, he stands. Lip quivering, he steps forward so that the water gulps up his toes. He cringes and shivers momentarily. It's so cold..! But he takes another step, and another, and tries not to pay attention to the freezing liquid lapping at his feet. Finally, he reaches Anjette. He's only in up to his ankles, and he's not happy about it, but it's an improvement!
He takes the feather and smiles wryly at her in thanks, glancing nervously at the river below him.
