He kept his cool and angled his head, "I didn't mean you were a runt. Just young." He chuckled a bit, "You have a feisty attitude. With that I'm sure you can accomplish anything you set your mind to."

The kit calmed down as quickly as she'd angered. "You think so? I hope so. Hrm..." Tilting her head at the dirt, she sketched a quick circle and placed her duck inside. Then she clapped her paws and placed them on the circle like her Daddy showed her...
The was a brief spark, short and dull, and the duck didn't change... it just smoked a little bit. "Awww..." Nizumi moved to pick up the duck -only to have it crumble to ashes when she touched it. "Eeep!" Her little eyes brimmed with tears. "My duck... Oh well! I'll make a new one!" Flashing a grin to Preacher, she darted off to find another chunk, returning with it and nibbling away again, tail wagging.

A soft chuckle came from his lips as she calmed down. But when she began to draw in the dirt it caught his attention. The real surprise came when the spark came then when the toy duck turned to ash. "What...just happened?" He had never seen anything of the like before.

Nizumi looked up for a moment. "Alchemy." She replied, ever so casually. "Well, failed alchemy. Daddy hasn't really taught me enough to do anything with it..."

His eyes with wide with something akin to surprise and wonder. "I can't say I've ever seen anything like this....if this was a failed attempt....then what could one do if it actually worked?"

"Well," Nizumi paused in her nibbling. "Had that worked, the duck would have actually looked like a duck, smooth and pretty. Alchemy lets you manibu... manipa... minap... change the structure of things. Like, daddy can clap his paws to the ground and make a big long stick out of the dirt, but it leaves a hole in the ground because you can't take without giving." The kit sat straighter, prouder, as she spoke her last bit: "The Laws of Equiv... Equiva... Equivalent Exchange!"

He blinked at her in amazement at the intellect behind her words then even more so at what she was saying. "That.....is amazing. I've never heard of such a thing."

She tilted her head. "Really? But, you're an adult! And everything is equiv... equ... that. Like, you can't get a rabbit from you're friend without giving them a squirrel or two... and the humans, I see them trading shiny coins and paper things for other shiny stuff!" This just seemed like a well-known fact of life...
Oh wait. "Or did you mean what Alchemy can do? Yeah, it's like... uhm... well..." She flopped down, one paw over her near-finished toy. "I dunno. It just happens. Something about... like... flow? Of like... energy or something?" Nizu shrugged, and finished up her duck to hold proudly in front of the Preacher dude.

Giving a soft chuckle, "I meant what this alchemy could do. Many would think it miracles. Or magic." Seeing the duck, "That one is very nice. I think it turned out better than the first one." His gaze shifted from the young kit to the horizon and the colorful hues of pink, orange, and purple. The sun was setting, "I don't mean to be rude and think you not capable of taking care of yourself. But is getting late. Won't your parents worry?"

"It is magic!" The kit giggled. Her head snapped up when the time was mentioned, though.
"Oh s**t." Nizumi leapt to her paws before realizing what she just said and in front of who. Quickly, she clamped a paw over her mouth, turning pink. "You didn't hear me say that, kay?" Then she grinned, dusted off, and stuffed her duck in the fluff of her tail.
Giggling, she did a sweeping bow to the adult. "Well, mister Preacher dude brother guy, it was nice to meet you, but I best skitter before its dark... Not that I'm afraid! No way! No no, no its Mommy who's afraid of the dark! Yup! Anyway... BYE!!!" Waving a paw, she darted off.
Before she ran too far, though, the kit turned her head to look at the male one last time... except she tripped, fell, turned bright red, and dashed off faster than she ever had before out of pure embarrassment.

He softly chuckled at her out burst then waved by to her, "Be safe!" As she ran off Preacher sighed to himeslf, "Sweet child." When she tripped he tried to hold back another chuckle. He stole one last look at the sky then moved along to find a place to stay for the evening.
