"Nonono, of course slow is fine," Akaya said, nodding with the slightest edge of frantic to the movement. She'd hoped the 'maybepossibly' would sort of imply the easing in, but really she hadn't been very clear at all. S'koi wasn't the only one who was looking crimson as the dragon color right about now. At least he'd said he wouldn't mind it? That was good... "Like a long courtship, back...home. What was home." Trine was very much 'home' now too, but she didn't know if she was ever going to stop feeling a little out of place compared to the weyrbred riders or those whose personalities or preferences allowed them to slip into the life better than a relatively sheltered Harper apprentice. "I'm sorry for bumbling around so much and being hard to understand. I just...didn't want things to go entirely unsaid." Even if her way of saying them had been less than preferable, it did appear they had themselves a sort of agreement, however tentative it might be.

S'koi gave a nod of understanding. Yes, the Weyr was their home now, but that didn't mean that they hadn't had previous homes before. Homes that were rather a lot different in their customs and traditions. "Mm, that could work." Though not that he had any personal experience with such from even back then. He had been Searched and brought to the Weyr at 13 after all. A faint, amused smile touched his lips at her apology though. "You were difficult to understand? I don't remember any miscommunications so far." Unless she was referring to Laith nearly rounding on her, which wasn't so much a miscommunication as it was his dragon over-reacting to his vaguely worried thoughts.

"You're too kind," she said wryly. "I expect if I hadn't Impressed, they'd've kept me an apprentice at Harper Hall forever rather than unleash me on poor unsuspecting Holders." Who knew how she'd've mangled the Teaching Songs if she got a bit nervous. And it was a bit silly, that admitting she might like S'koi was so much more difficult than just going and sleeping with him. Given, it wasn't really 'him' but... Weyr morals. Ugh, one of these days they'd maybe make more sense.

Sleeth beamed at Laith. See? It worked out~

So it would seem, Laith agreed, relaxing a bit once more and diving under the water. Honestly, she was rather happy for Hers; this was certainly a big step for him. That didn't mean that she wasn't still a bit worried though. If for some reason things didn't work out... Well, Hers really didn't need anything more to brood on.

"I think you're too hard on yourself. Perhaps you are simply out of practice after having been in the Weyr for so long." It had been a few years now at least since she had bonded Sleeth, had it not? He was sure even his weaving would be abysmally rusty should he ever try weaving again... He had no plans to though. He was hardly about to pick his old trade back up when he had yet to even visit his family since he had left home. It was easier to put it behind.

"Perhaps. I'm afraid my turn of phrasing has always been more elegant in the written word than being gifted with the ability to speak plainly and be convincing," Akaya admitted wryly, more than aware of her limits. But rather than dwell on her faults, there was at least the promise of something that might happen between them...? Best to focus on that. "Would you like to soak for much longer, or should we see about oiling our dragons?"

He could see how the written word might be an easier medium to work with given the time allowable for thought compared to the spoken word. "We should probably start the oiling before it gets too late, yes," he replied, starting for the shore. Perhaps after all was said and done they could grab themselves some food to eat before going their separate ways. A nice end to a long day?
