She was quick, he had to give her that, but he was no Spring Azrein. He'd seen the mares and their tricks, and was ready for her when she tried to knock his teeth in with her hooves. He wasted no time chasing after her, and in less time than it took to sneeze, he was once again upon her. He reached out with his head and managed to just n** her hind quarters, above where her tail would be had she had one. What he had hoped to do was catch hold of hair on her rump and pull her to a stop. The meadow was large, but she was fast approaching the tree line, and if she got in amidst the trees, the pursuit would get much harder. He lowered his head and demanded more from his legs as his speed increased and he was once again close enough to taste her. He once more reached out and this time was able to close his teeth around her rump hair. Not wanting to cause her undue pain, he slowed his pace, causing her to pull up in order to relieve the pain. She turned her head to face him, and he saw pure hatred in her eyes. But he could tell there was something else there too; something she was afraid to admit. He wasted no time in mounting her. With his legs securely upon her back, he let go with his teeth, and instead clamped down into the long fur on her back. She would not easily shake him loose now. Not without causing herself additional pain.

PAIN! First from where he had bit her, and now from where he grabbed the fur at the base of her back, as he pulled on it. She had no choice but to stop running and try to make him release it. But she was not fast enough, and before she could do anything, he was once again astride her back, and though he released his hold on her, he immediately grabbed hold of the long hair on her back. She could feel the slight sting of pain as he pulled his head up with the hair in his mouth.
Then suddenly the pain in her back was replaced by something even worse. She screamed out with all the rage in her body, feeling as though it would consume her. Whatever it was he was doing to her, it was most definitely not helping her, and she was not a happy Azrein. If this was what he meant by helping her, she'd show him exactly what she thought of his help as soon as he released her.

He felt a twinge of empathy for her when she screamed, but it was gone in an instant. She couldn't move without hurting herself, so she simply stood there, fuming and screaming at him to stop. It wasn't long before he knew he was spent, and he released his hold on her. The chase had taken a lot of energy out of him, and he was standing there trying to recover from the exertion when she turned to face him. Her eyes were no longer the soft lavender eyes that he had first admired. They were now as cold as the mountain home she probably hailed from.

She felt him remove himself from her back. She was shaking all over, both from the anger welling up within her, and the pain she still felt. She would not allow him to escape unpunished though. She turned to face her attacker, and seeing him exhausted from what he had just done, she wasted no words, warning him of his fate. She knew now why she had been blessed with horns, and she was going to use them for the first time on him. Now it was time for payback. She lowered her head, and without missing a beat, she charged him. He saw her coming, but with his lack of strength he was unable to move out of the way completely, and she felt her head connect with his side. She didn't knock him completely over, but he was thrown off balance, and it gave her enough of a chance to run. She ran in the direction she had been heading when she rammed him, and she didn't stop for hours. Eventually her strength gave out, and she had to lie down where she stopped. She cried herself into sleep, and awoke hours later, bathed in sweat from the nightmare that had haunted her sleep. It would be months before she was able to put the event behind her.

He hadn't realized what she planned, or he wouldn't have stood there like a fool. Before he could assess the situation, she was charging toward him with her head down, those formidable horns racing toward him. He tried to move out of the way, but he simply didn't have enough strength left after the chase. He moved enough though, that she hit him on his side, and not head on. Pain shot through his body, and he had to use every last ounce of strength to keep himself from falling over. He feared if he landed on the ground, she would not stop her attack, and trample him in her rage. But he was able to remain standing, albeit off balance, and instead, she continued to charge across the meadow, away from him. She never stopped, and he had no desire to follow her and see if she was alright. Her anger at him was still too strong for him to risk that. Instead, he headed in the opposite direction, nursing his wound as best he could. He'd be sore for some time, but he had to admit, it was most assuredly worth the pain.
