Niyx it appeared chuckled at the Deep Thought Egg though in truth she was more chuckling along with it. Such a proud aloof egg. Did it not enjoy the company of others? She couldn't really blame it, Niyx herself was rather well known for taking measure to avoid others. After all she simply felt her time was better invested in reading or inventing rather then attempting to get to know others who were of little to no interest to her. Perhaps this egg was a kindred spirit in that manner. Giving the Deep Thought Egg a respectful nod and one last gentle stroke she bid it farewell if not somewhat reluctantly.

Stepping up to the On the Edge Egg Niyx tilted her head sideways wondering why the egg was upside down. Reaching out she pressed a hand to the shell, the intense concentration making her brow furrow in curiosity. Was there something new to see this way? What did the egg know? Or was trying to find out that she didn't. If it weren't for the throngs of people Niyx was sorely tempted to drop into her own handstand and see things from this new point of view. As things were though she doubted the Queen would approve and would probably worry that should Niyx fall she might damage the eggs. Giving the egg a smile and a gentle pat Niyx departed to greet the others.

Niyx approached her next choice a tad more warily, the brightly colored Erupting Egg giving her pause as she laid a hand on it's bright shell. Ah a truth seeker hmm? Well she could understand that, but did it really want to know what was underneath all the layers that made up a person or a dragon for that matter? For a while Niyx stood there eyeing the egg as she would a debate opponent. True truth offered knowledge and knowledge is power and who's to say she didn't crave power? The Erupting Egg though was simply a delightful new riddle to the girl as she grinned. Let it search for the truth and maybe when it finds it it'll share it with a fellow seeker.

The next egg Niyx approached was the Eye of The Storm Egg as she laid her hand upon it's shell becoming puzzled at it's lack of response. Was it simply an impassive watcher? Prone more to allowing others to do as they will and judge them for it or was it simply just disinterested in this whole affair? Worse was this egg a possible dud? Niyx shuddered at the thought, no, no this egg could not be a dud. Perhaps the little one inside was simply quiet. She was rather fond of quiet. With a soft smile Niyx ran her hands over the smooth shell. "May the winds favor your hatching." Niyx whispered her well wishes before rising and after moving to another egg for a time.

The Caught-In-The-Surge egg rather confused Niyx. So it did or didn't want to listen to her? Were all eggs prone to mood swings? Oh well at least it was being rather nice now. Patting the egg as if to say 'it's all right' Niyx smiled at it's shell before moving on.

Peace and Quiet
egg was the next to be visited by Niyx who admired it's shell, running her hands over it's surface. For a moment she just stood there letting it's calm fill her up with a small smile. No she didn't particularly need help on deciding on anything, she always did good work. Something she took no amount of small pride in. Still it was kind of the egg to comfort others and be their rock.

The Crimson Swirl egg was an interesting one to Niyx. It seemed to take a far more active stance in seeing to it that the other eggs 'played nice' as it would seem. Did eggs play? Could they fight? These were things to muse on as Niyx left the egg to visit another.

That is until the girl stopped dumbfounded in her tracks. Such color! Such beauty! Without even thinking Niyx reached for her pouch for a scroll to try and sketch the egg before her only to realize she had left it behind. Cursing the girl approached the Silver Lining egg eyes wide with wonder. And what was this? Why it had the most charming manners as well. Though Niyx could easily tell that the egg was controlling the flow of conversation, such a thing might have insulted another, but she found herself rather pleased and impressed. Socially masterful as well as confident it would seem. Why indeed any candidate would be lucky to have such a dragon! Settling in beside the egg Niyx took her time with this one listening pleasantly, ever the polite ear for any conversation. It was some time before she finally rose politely excusing herself and promising to return to admired the little egg that she was able to leave. Even doing so she still paused to look over her shoulder at the breathtaking shell.

The Sweet-as-Sin
egg certainly was a darling. Was it worried for it's more attention demanding friend the Thunderclap Egg? Niyx took her time admiring the small violet egg, ever the one to ask and be full of questions. Well she was certain that the Thunderclap egg would be fine and Sweet-as-Sin shouldn't worry too over much. With a gentle pat and a smile Niyx moved onwards.

The Charge-On Egg caught Niyx off guard. What on Pern was the rush? Weren't the best opponents those that took ones time to defeat? It'd certainly take a cool head to keep this little one in hand, she was sure of it. Planning would be needed, lots of planning. All the bravery in the world didn't do one a lick of good if it got them killed.

The Quiet Pool egg was the next to be visited, having politely left the Charge On egg Niyx settled by this eggs side resting a hand against it's shell letting her mind wander. It was a silent egg though she sensed that there was indeed something in there. What or whom she couldn't be sure, but it's quiet contemplation didn't bother her and she hoped she didn't bother it. With a gentle pat on the shell the girl once more rose wandering over to the next egg.

As quickly as Niyx laid a hand on the Gleaming egg she just as quickly removed it blinking in surprise at such an exuberant greeting. Well she herself had been known to use overwhelming stun tactics herself maybe it was. . .no it was just energetic. Well hello to it too? A loud one huh? Well that was good. Lovely to meet it really, no need for that kind of volume. And as quick and politely as she could Niyx moved on.

The Bountiful Egg was the last one Niyx visited, the little egg giving the girl pause as she reached out to gently touch the shell. What a sweet little one, so kind, so gentle. She hoped this little one found a good home, it deserved that much and more.

Once she had properly greeted all of the eggs Niyx glanced to the candidate master making sure he wasn't going to shoo her off the sands just yet. Luckily he appeared distracted letting the brightly colored candidate return to her favorite brightly colored egg.

Bending before the egg Niyx settled beside the Silver Lining egg in a rather companionable amicable fashion. Making a point to sit so she could both admire the shell and keep an eye on the others lest they get too close and disturb her. Resting one hand on the shell she was once more delighted with conversation though she sensed more then heard the egg feeling her out. It was using it's speech to distract her as it examined her. . .clever. A delighted sly smile lit up the candidates face as a soft chuckle rolled from her lips. Yet Niyx made no move to interrupt the eggs conversation, just as it could buy time my speaking with her to feel her out she could buy time to feel it out in turn by listening. You learned a lot by listening and with such a delightful egg Niyx certainly had no problem letting it talk her ear off. She'd stay here by it's side till it's hatching if the Queen would only allow it, but she had plenty of reason to believe that no matter how prettily she phrased her words or postured that the less then well looking gold would not be pleased with her remaining with the Silver Lining egg.

Even if she would have promised to be very still and quiet.

Oh? Why yes Silver Lining was simply breathtaking. The candidate heartily agreed. How on Pern did it get that shade of coloring on it's shell? She would simply love to paint it. In fact for such a beauty Niyx was sorely tempted to put forth some of her scarce marks for colored paint though she doubted she'd find one so rich and vast in color as the Silver Lining's shell which pained her somewhat. After all when the egg hatched the shell would be lost, but then again the dragon that came forth would surely be so breathtaking that she was certain the shell would pale in comparison.

Did Niyx know how to carefully manipulate a conversation? Why yes, yes she did. Not that a single compliment she gave or reassurance to the egg was even in the slightest bit false. In fact unless another candidate approached to greet the egg which it seemed most had already chosen to do so Niyx remained sitting and quietly listening to the Silver Lining Egg her head leaned gently against the shell as if the dragon inside was whispering through the thin layer between them. There she would remain until forced to leave otherwise or choosing to move aside out of politeness for others.

The egg of deep and bright crimson (Crimson Swirl Egg) was the next to be touched on Roeline’s rounds. Huh, the feelings that she got from this dragonet were certainly interesting. It almost gave her the impression of a creche worker. I hope you let yourself have a bit of fun too, the young Candidate thought to the dragonet before moving on.

Hm, the dragon inside of this egg (Caught-In-The-Surge Egg) seemed rather quiet... It didn’t really give much of a response to her. She had been just about to move on to the next egg when quite suddenly the dragonet inside felt very sorry at her, and she had the impression after that it was now listening patiently to her. No worries. You don’t have to listen if you don’t want to. She wasn’t about to force herself upon the baby dragon after all.

Roeline found the following egg (Eye of the Storm) to also be extremely quiet. Was this one good friends with the previous egg, perhaps? No sense of apology, which was probably good, but it was so faint a feeling that Roeline couldn’t really tell what the dragonet inside was like. Hope you don’t mind having so many louder siblings~ Perhaps you can play with them more once you hatch?

Were all of the remaining eggs just very quiet individuals? It seemed the main party had been in the center of the clutch. Not that there was anything wrong with more calm and quiet individuals, mind you (after all, her brother was sorta one), but it was easier to play with more outgoing ones. Still, the dragon inside of the mossy green egg that she was petting (Peace and Quiet Egg) seemed very nice, even if a bit too calm for her tastes.

The next egg that she approached had an amazingly colored shell (Silver Lining Egg), and Roeline had to smile at the greetings of the occupant inside. Why yes, she would love to spend more time with it! This dragonet seemed very charming, and once again the Candidate found herself sad that they weren’t allowed to linger too long at each egg. “I’ll be happy to chat when you hatch,” she whispered with a bright smile. And play. Playing was always on the agenda.

Oh my! The next egg (Charge-on! Egg) certainly seemed a strong one. Very courageous, it seemed, which was almost amusing to be feeling from an egg. What was he or she feeling so brave about? Hatching from its shell? This one would certainly be a good Thread fighter at least. Stay strong! The Weyr will be needing you.

Roeline was even more amused as she approached the upside-down egg (On the Edge Egg). How cute! And rather silly. As she touched the shell she found the dragonet inside to be in a state of deep concentration. Wow, the dragonet was trying really hard to stay in that position, wasn’t it. Hope you don’t fly upside-down as well. That might be a bit frightening for your rider! Assuming he or she could hold on that was.

When she laid her hand on the brown egg that was off to the side (Quiet Pool Egg), she had to wonder if there was even a dragon inside at all. She couldn’t feel anything at all! She hoped that it was alright... Oh wait, was that a sense of peace? It was good to know that the baby inside was indeed alive and well. You had me worried, silly. Try to speak up a bit more in the future.

Looking around at the clutch, it seemed there was only one egg left that she hadn’t yet touched. She approached the blue and white egg (Deep Thought Egg) to give the final dragonet a brief greeting as well. This one seemed a bit proud, but of what exactly she could not say. Had it won an argument with another sibling? Or did it simply think itself better than the rest? Well, she supposed they’d find out soon enough at the Hatching, wouldn’t they.

Roeline was a bit sad to have finished the Touching already, but she was still very much thrilled with the whole experience. Now they had the Hatching ahead of them to look forward to.

Finally knowing her time was short Niyx rose from beside the Silver-Lining egg giving it one last gentle pat and thanking it for the conversation. It was an odd experience having a conversation with an egg and doing her best to burn the egg into her mind she swore to paint it when she could. Then with a slow loping gait she went to stand beside the others that were waiting to depart. After all she didn't want to antagonize the Queen or Candidatemaster and not get her chance to stand.

The eggs were small, remarkable so if the chattering around the weyr was to believed, but since Echlerov hadn't ever seen a hatching before, he didn't know whether or not that was true.

No matter. He was just as excited to be standing either way, and he trusted that the little dragons would be fine. They had to be.

There were a few eggs that has his attention, and when he was permitted onto the sand, he made his way over to the Gleaming Egg. It had a vivid shell, and when he touched it, the feelings that he gave to him fit it perfectly. Bright, and pleased to see everyone. Can't wait to meet you! he thought back at the egg as strong as he could. This would be a fun hatchling to know, even if it wasn't his.

He moved away from the egg, and over towards the smaller Erupting Egg. It had a harsher feeling to it, as if it was slicing him to his core, and Echlerov quickly released it. It was an uncomfortable feeling for the young vinter, and he quickly moved towards a different egg.

The Quiet Pool Egg was off to the side, a plain brown compared to some of it's much more colorful siblings. He caressed it gently, lingering long enough that he could feel a gentle acknowledgement, and a feeling of peace. Reluctantly, he pulled away, moving over to wait with those who had already finished looking at the eggs. He could visit more, but he felt content with the ones that he had already visited.

The Deep Thought egg didn't surprise her. She'd felt many eggs over the turns and being so analyzed was a common occurrence. At lease this one was nice about it, if a little condescending. She let the hatchling have it's fill before moving along.

Dizz almost signed out loud as she came across yet another silent egg. She knew she shouldn't let herself get frustrated but she couldn't imagine a calm sedate hatchling wanting to deal with her excitability and mood swings. Plus, what did it say for the health of their queen if half her clutch is unresponsive or lethargic? Dizzian's thoughts were interrupted by the apology of the Caught-in-the-Surge egg. No no, it was alright. The little one inside didn't have to be worried Dizzian wasn't mad at it, just concerned. It would be fine and there was sure to be someone on the Sands who'd appreciate such a personality.

A little embarassed by letting her thoughts get to the hatchling in such a way Dizzian laid her hands on yet another shell. The thoughts of the Peace and Quiet egg were appropriate to her mental state right now. While it offered no answers it could tell she was at a crossroads in her life and couldn't choose which path to take. Dizzian couldn't tell if it was unsettling or not but appreciated the encouragement that she would figure it out on her own.

What was with these last few eggs? The Erupting egg took that encouragement and ground it into the earth as it pried at her soul, seeking for itself where she truely belonged. Dizz almost threw up a mental wall against it but knew that the hatchling needed to see to be able to make it's decision come Hatching time. It didn't take long and the egg gave her no clues as to it's findings, whether good or bad Dizzian would just have to wait to find out. The dismissal was obvious and she stood from the small eggs side, gazing over the clutch to see if she'd missed any. It looked like she'd touched every one and she passed through the center of the clutch to reach the exit, grazing her hands across the Gleaming, On the Edge, and Sweet-as-Sin eggs on her round about way.

She halted suddenly though as she noticed the Bountiful egg in the center. She'd actually not noticed it next to the large Gleaming egg. Dizzian dropped to her knees beside the darling little egg and touched it as she had the others. What a send off! She was rather glad that she'd inadvertently saved this egg for last. The loving thoughts from the small hatchling really lifted her spirits and when she did leave the sands it was with her confidence intact and prepared for the upcoming Hatching.

Allaxon danced onto the sands and bowed to the queen before approaching his first egg at random.

He came upon the On the Edge Egg first and complimented the creature on its degree of focus. Pity that he could seldom maintain that ability unless he was pursuing a woman.

The Bountiful Egg showered him in warmth and love. He thanked the egg and thought it would be a wonderful mother/father figure for the other eggs. He petted the shell and moved onto the next delightful creature.

The Eye of the Storm Egg was quiet but Allaxon thought that its occupant was just biding its time till the grand entrance where it would surely shine as brightly as the others.

The Peace and Quiet Egg seemed to be deep in thought so Allaxon moved on quicker than usual in order to give the creature more time to contemplate its big question. What a bunch of quiet thinkers this clutch was.

The Crimson Swirl Egg gave him the first indication of a spark of active life in this clutch it was concentrating on its siblings like a true busy body. No one would be hidden for long form this egg. He had a feeling it would peek into weyrs just to check on other dragons. The image made him chuckle.

The Deep Thought Egg was distinctly superior feeling. Allaxon wasn't sure if he should join it in aloofness or simply accept that he was not at all what the egg was looking for. Confused he shook his head and moved to the next egg.

The Sweet as Sin Egg reminded him of a young woman who was curious about all things. He pondered on what it would be like to be friends with this dragon, certainly whoever the rider was would definitely up to date on all the gossip around the weyr. He sniggered. Dragon would probably talk its rider's ears off. Good luck little one he thought at it and moved on to the next egg.

And at the Quiet Pool Egg there was yet another gentle, peaceful and thoughtful egg. Where was all the excitement? Where there any hyper actives in this clutch?

The Thunderclap Egg greeted him with the feeling that he definitely should have come here first. Well he would be sure not to make that dreadful mistake again he tried to reassure her egg. It was fiery and tempermental, which was a nice change from all the quiet critters he had seen so far. This was a dragon who knew what it wanted and it wanted it now. Allaxon smiled and patted the egg happily. Now he new there was a live wire in here!

The Silver Lining Egg was a little charmer and Allaxon had to admit that he fell under the little darlings spell. He puffed up like a little rooster and marked the egg for one to be watched as he could charm the feathers off of a wherry.

The next egg to meet his palm was the Charge On Egg. Now this was an exciting egg. Allaxon almost danced in place in delight. This llittle dragon would go full bore into what it truly wanted. So much vitality in one little package! It would surely liven up the weyr when it hatched and perhaps stress a few teachers the little dragon brave.

The Caught in the Surge Egg seemed to be busy with something else perhaps it was carfully calculating the candidates before him. He winked at the egg and just before he pulled away he got washed in a sea of apology he smiled at the egg and reasured it it had done not a thing wrong. He felt a tad protective of this egg. It seemed a little absentminded.

The Gleaming Egg felt like it should shine right out of its shell. It was a go getter and had so bright a personality that Allaxon felt a little bit stunned but soon the excitement was infectious and Allaxon walked away from the egg with a brighter heart and more energy.

The Erupting Egg scared him a bit. It slipped into his consciousness and divided it right into the middle where not even he knew he had thoughts. His face was scrunched into a wince. This was going to be a powerful little dragon when it hatched. Allaxon hoped it didnt go between and that it found who it was looking for even if it had a direct way of approaching it.

Allaxon skittered off the sand so the next candidate could come on to the sand.

Ailin's experience with the Silver Lining was amusing. He was perfectly happy to linger by the multicolored shell and let it's occupant chatter his head off. The views of a creature that had never seen the outside world or even it's own body were unique and he valued the look into a rare viewpoint.

Sweet-as-Sin was talkative too again he let it chatter, offering little to the conversation itself, just moments of yes I'm still here, oh really, that's interesting. At his lack of participation the conversation drifted away and he left the lavender shell to the next candidate.

Already in the center of the clutch he took a turn at the Gleaming egg next. He blinked rapidly at the enthusiastic greeting, he almost felt as if his ears should be ringing from the 'volume'. Ailin couldn't tell if this egg was similar to himself or his exact opposite. There were hints of both within it. Either way he left the Gleaming egg with a positive opinion.

Charge-On egg left no longing or dislike for it. It was nice that the occupant held courage for beyond anything his size would suggest. That hint of self importance and pride didn't appeal to him. He felt no real kinship with the bold beast. But it wasn't offensive so he thanked it for it's time and finally approached the last egg.

This one he'd honestly noticed right off the bat but it's unique position had drawn many candidates to it already so he'd taken his time in coming to it. He put a gentle pressure on the shell and felt the occupant actually adjust to retain it's balanced position. He quickly apologized and stroked the shell of On the Edge. The occupant didn't seem interested in him or anything else outside of his own balancing act. Ailin's mind set to musing the metaphor the egg presented, likening it to the precarious state Trine, Malvren and Benden were in. How at any moment one push could send things toppling down into chaos. He'd have to see about talking to one of the weyr harpers and hearing their thoughts on his idea. Maybe they'd make a song of it.

With that he quietly exited the Sands.
