Powerful muscles played smoothly beneath silky-furred skin as Jabali padded through the verdant swamplands they now called home, enjoying the way the wet ground squished between his toes. Although the moist, verdant swampland was very different from the almost arid savannah he'd grown to adulthood in, it was, nonetheless, home.
Like his brother, Jabali had spent the days since their arrival exploring the surrounding swampland. He'd been like a cub, exploring every nook and cranny, and following every new scent until he could put an image in his mind as to what each new smell represented. However, he was careful to not move out of hearing distance of his mate, as Asali was looking distinctly rounded, and he had no desire to leave her unprotected at such a time.
Raking sharp claws against a nearby treetrunk, Jabali headed back to the main resting ground, wondering if, perhaps, his queen would like to accompany him to a particularly lovely pond he'd found just today, with clear, clear water.
As he made his way easily through the swamplands was slowly becoming familiar with, he could detect traces of his brother's scent, as well as Asali's...and there were...two others, who he did not recognize...
He'd heard no sounds of a struggle, and so, since he was well within earshot, assumed that they were no threat to him or his own. However, it would be rude then, to not make haste, and greet them properly.
Leaping over a fallen tree, entered the clearing, surprised, somewhat, by how close he'd been. Nodding a greeting to his brother, he immediately went to Asali's side, nosing affectionately at her belly before turning to face the unfamiliar pair, head cocked politely to the side.

The lands were absolutely beautiful, if not a bit dirty. But the gray lioness had come to love the muds of the swamplands, the waters that occupied most of the land. It was soothing, at times, and she welcomed it with every breath and every step.
Now, her steps were taking her away from the outskirts of the lands. She, like the other newcomers to the land, had explored almost every single place that there was to explore, sniffed every scent there was to sniff, and took in all of the sights and sounds that there were to take in. Sehani was heading back towards where she was staying with the love of her life, the brown lion with the floofy orange mane.
Paws made not a sound as she traveled over the lands, a map almost completely formed in her mind. Did females have a better sense of direction than males?
After a few minutes of straight trotting, the female slowly came to a stop, ears swiveling forward atop her smooth head. There were voices of others not far away... and there were familiar scents mixed with new ones. Curious, she ventured forth, eventually coming upon Asali, Matope, Jabali, and two others she did not recognize.
Suddenly the fierce female become shy, instantly darting over towards her mate's side and hiding slightly behind his large form.
"What's going on?" she whispered to Matope.

"But it has always been alive," Asali said, chuckling gently at Kikawaida, before answering, "The queen's mate. Consort."
And then, as if on cue, they all arrived, appearing from wanderings here and there. The lioness smiled brightly, tail swishing in time to the joyful beating of her heart. With a playful grin, she nudged Jabali's shoulder, eyes alighting on Matope and Sehani.
Settling back on her haunches, she named them each in turn, affection and even pride clear in her voice: "Jabali, Matope, Sehani."
"This is Kikwaida, of the old pride as I am." A nod to the khaki-colored lioness. "With her is Umo, who calls her mate."
She emitted a rumbling purr, loud and clear. "We are pride."

Kikawaida stayed silent as the others approached, eyeing each in turn. She did not know them, her nose twitched, they smelt of the dry savannah, but perhaps that was simply because they had been travleling. No. They weren't of the old pride but they were a part of the new. Things had to change she supposed. The old pride had gone and a new had to be born from it's ashes. Even her own Umo wasn't a swamp beast, but he would become on in time, she hoped. Bowing her head softly, kikawaida lowered ehr eyes "I am happy to see the pride here again ma'am it does my heart good to see that this place will once again hold a pridal life in its arms" she whispered, she always whispered, her voice seemingly carried upon any breeze which happened to be passing.
Her dusty eyed gaze turned on Umo for a moment. Her mate, even her queen had said it, it made ehr feel a little lustered and shy, she wanted to play with him and nuzzle him oh so affectionately to let him know she appreciated him being there. Especially at a time like this when she was under the gaze of the whole pride, the pride that Asali had formed before returning to her homelands.
She sat slowly, relaxing slightly. as she watched the large male nuzzle the quens stomach, he must like ehr to be pudgy she thought rather dreamily, though she stiffled a giggle. She, herself had always been a very svelte lioness, she really couldn't imagine it any other way. Once again she turned her pinkish orbs uponeach lion in turn, a friendly look, a gentler smile and a nod to each "It is a great pleasure to meet you all" she pururs a happy, sparkling dance flickering in those beautiful eyes.

Umo was lost for words. He just stared dumbly at all the strangers. Others. He could feel heat rise to his cheeks. He had always had some... unknown hatred or even fear of other adults. Asi, his pride leader; had not had these feelings come from Umo. Neither had Kika. He looked side to side, from the queen and the others. He didn't feel hate... but perhaps there was a tad of fear in his movements. Considering his voice lacked all emotion. Anouther reason he was so fond of Kika. They spoke diffrently. Umo, dark stranger of one voice and the whispering Jewlel.
He looked over at Kika, a nervous smile crossing his face. He had never been in such a large group before. Sure, his pride had members but he hadn't met them all in one place. He cleared his throat, smiling to the queen as she called Kika and himself mates. Then it was official. They were mates. He nuzzled her back, his tail moving side to side slightly.
Umo couldn't help but notice Kika's giggle towards the queens stomach prodding. He cocked his head at her. Perhaps she was thinking about cubs. Perhaps not. He smiled. That was anoutehr thing about her; so airy were her thoughts and actions. He nodded to the pride members. "It is also my pleasure to meet the old and new pride." He said montonly. Looking Kika, he smiled nervously again. "Now known as one pride."

After bowing his head to Asali in greeting, the massive lion heard and saw the arrival of first Jabali, to whom he nodded a welcome to, and then the beautiful Sehani, who he immediately stepped towards, blinking a hello and nuzzling her in affection. To her, he replied in an assumption, "Pride, perhaps?" His theory was very soon answered by Asali's words.
Matope's tail flicked. The new lions did not seem to pose any threat, and any friend of Asali's was definitely a friend of his! It probably wouldn't be too difficult to build trust or share their days with these pridemembers, especially if one had been accustomed to the way of the swamp prior to the foursome's first arrival.
"I.. I don't know whether I ought to be saying welcome or not, for it wouldn't seem to make much sense in the case of Kikwaida. So hello, I guess, and very nice to meet you all." He shook his bushy, orange mane a bit, and grinned, eyes twinkling with anticipation for the many surely-awesome things to come and events to happen.
