The tunnel wound deeper and deeper in a gentle circle, apparently leading into another level. Eventually, Mirize's foray into the deeper tunnels opened up into an old cavern, the sconces on the walls long gone dead. A single torch burned at the entrance to the musty opening, hissing and popping from recent renewal. Wherhandlers had little need of much light, they spent so long in the dark, that sparse lighting was more then sufficient...
However, such conditions often invited the creatures of the dark in, gave them room to invade. As the blue and his partner stepped in, a skittering sound of talons hitting the ground. One hiss then another was followed quickly with the skittering sound. They were not alone... but it sounded too small to be the Tunnelsnake they were after.
For Hyvisk and Tashio, their ascent into warmer, cleaner air opened into a brighter hallway filled with doors. Down the passage a ways, one of the doors thumped against its hinges, followed by a resounding thud as a pile of something spilled over inside.... it was difficult, however, to identify which door, exactly, due to the distance.
It was impossible to tell what had caused the ruckus without further inspection.
===== SPECIAL EVENT: Mirize/Valarask: You've come across one of the abandonned great rooms of the Weyr, it is musty, dark, cold, moist, and the only sounds are those you make and the mysterious hissing and clattering in the distance. Roll 1d10 with each of your posts, if you are successful in spotting the creatures please PM me immediately. If you are not, continue to try until you do for the two more alotted rolls - assume the creatures move away and keep out of the light but continue to make the sounds described.
Tashio/Hyvisk: You've certainly discovered something but you don't know where or what, exactly. Roll 1d10 with each post, if you roll well on the first roll you pick the right door - please PM me immediately if you do, if not, continue to try for the two more alotted rolls. The hallway is lined with storeroom sorted by type: cleaning supplies, linens, etc etc.

Hyvisk turned his head, the new light bothering his eyes, but at the sound his eyes whirled searching for which door. Tashio looked at the doors, searching for a sign. Should she call back to the others, or just wait. Her companion had other thoughts, shuffling down the hall. Shifting his wings about his back, the blue wher rumbled as he moved, sniffing at doors.
Tashio looked back the way they came, it was darker and not really that far to run down if needed. A snort from Hyvisk made her turn back, his nose against a door and claws dug deep. "Is that it?" If she didn't move fast, the wher looked like he was about to shove his way through the door. Thrilling at him with a sharp hand signal calmed him just enough for her to look.

There was hissing and clattering in the distance, and Mirize peered into the dim area the best he could. A lamp would have been useful, if just to see around the room, but he had known that that would irritate the watchwher's sensitive eyes, and since he was trusting in those senses, hadn't thought that it would have truly been that useful.
It wasn't like he wasn't used to working in dimly lit conditions, it did happen, especially when someone had 'accidentally' forgotten to change the glows, and so he merely waited, knowing that his eyes would adjust.
"You see anything?"
Valarask responded with a sound that he knew meant no.
"Alright." He took a few steps in, scanning for any sign of what could be making the sounds.

Inside the Room... With the door identified and the wher all but shoving his way in, the doorframe gave under his weight and the door toppled inward, sending up huge clouds of flour. A startled scream was muffled beneath the sacks of flour that had fallen over, burying the poor individual alive. "You're crushing me!!" The feminine voice screamed, partially from pain, partially from terror. The room itself was stocked with many dry goods, including smoked meats to the other side... most of which were missing from their hooks. Claw marks in the wall indicated something had been in this room and it likely wasn't the woman the wher was currently crushing. SPECIAL EVENT: Roll 1d10 with your post. Roll 5 or better and the theft is fresh, roll 5 or less and the theft is not fresh. Either way, you might want to help the woman before she'd crushed to death. Or not. It's up to you. Tashio looked inside, surprised that a person was under the wher. "Hyvisk, back...Back!" The command was followed with whistles and signals. Slowly the wher moved to just outside the door, his eyes swirling with orange. "Let me help you up." Tash says to the woman, digging her out of the pile.

With his eyes adjusted, he could see a little bit more, able to tell that he was in a chamber that didn't seem to be used. It wasn't that unusual, especially in a place as large as Benden, but he had a feeling that this place had been abandoned for a while.
Valarask rumbled a warning as Mirize tripped, attempting to let him know about the rock he had just tripped over. "Thanks."
He got back to his feet, dusting himself off, and then moved carefully around the rock.

Tashio got the woman up, then turned to look at the marks on the walls. They were fresh looking and the rumble from Hyvisk confirmed her thoughts. The snake was recently in here. She stepped back out in the hall, commanding the wher to keep watching the room as she called back towards the others. She wasn't sure if they would hear or understand, but still she just called out to them, it might have them be more aware. "It was up here recently!"

The tunnels carried sound well enough and the shout echoed down, becoming fainter and fainter until it was heard, barely, down in the cavern where Mirize currently was. The noise, too, echoed into the other halls and disturbed something even greater.
==== Special Instructions: Further rolls instructions will be provided once Mirize's response to the PM is known.

Echoes of steps When you fell, you saw a flash of something small dart along the periphery of your vision, that skittering sound coming from the same direction. Whatever is in here is small but agile... Your wher, too, with its thermal vision spots the two shapes. They are long, sinuous, and possessed of six legs. Young Tunnel Snakes, they are prime targets to remove - the young cannot be allowed to live only to come back and harass the Weyr once more. SPECIAL EVENT: roll 1d10 with each of your posts... If you choose to pursue the young Tunnel Snakes, rolling well means you corner one. You must roll well twice in to corner them both (does not have to be consecutive). Each as 15HP. To Damage them, your roll only hits if it is even. If it is odd, it misses. The Wher's attack deals 8 damage, your knife deals 3 damage, and your fists deal 1 damage. Make sure to note in your post/roleplay response, what is going on and list it at the bottom. The flash hadn't really caught his attention, since he had been far more concerned with getting the dust off his clothing, but when Valarask chirruped an alert, he knew that this was important. "How many?"The watchwher looked, and then responded, letting him know there was two. "Alright then." Before he did anything else, he could hear the faint echo of Tashio's call. Hmm. "I've got tunnelsnakes down here!" he hollered back. If he could hear her, then perhaps she would be able to hear him. It would be helpful if she could, but if not, well, they would deal. "Show me where." His chirping had a bit of an urgent sound to it, and Valarask responded accordingly, moving towards the tunnelsnakes. They split as she approached, and the green wher worked to get one of the tunnelsnakes into an area where it could be attacked. 54

The shouting further disturbed the thing in the center hallway and then the screams of the little tunnel snakes threw it into a rage. Screaming its anger, the thing was big enough to fill a door, the Tunnel Snake they were after surged down the hallway and skittered around the corner to start down the tunnel to where Mirize was dealing with the young tunnel snakes.
Ichor streaked along the ground from a wound it had been nursing, the sound of its passage enough to draw attention.
===== SPECIAL EVENT: Tashio/Hyvisk - choose whether you hear the snake's passage. roll 1d10 to see if your wher smells the ichor it's leaving a trail of
Mirize/Valarask - Continue to deal with the young tunnel snakes, but your first roll also determines if you hear the larger Tunnel Snake coming.
I fully expect you both to make more then one post. You can roll up to 3 times between staff posts.

While doing a quick inspection of the area, Tashio heard something in the hall. With the way still blocked by the wher, she had to shove him out to check what it was. Faintly she heard Mirize call up. She was looking back at the room, when Hyvisk moved against her. A noise, that was not human could be heard, down the way they came. "Come on Hyvisk. Let's go see."

Mirize was concerned only with the young ones, and so he didn't hear any sounds over what was in the room with him.
"Good." He told Valarask, and then circled around her to the other side, working to corner the tunnelsnake. "Don't let it escape." He pulled the knife from his belt, holding it at the ready, just in case the tunnelsnake chose to lunge at him.

The snake lunged at him, and Mirize attempted to slash it, failing miserably, completely missing the snake. "Shardit!" He had managed to slash his own leg doing that, and he grimaced in pain.
He was better than that, but even the best people missed sometimes, though he didn't have to be happy about it. It wasn't even like this was his first snake hunt, and so he shouldn't have made such an amateur mistake.
Still, he had a mission to accomplish, and then, once it was done, he could worry about his wound.

Hyvisk couldn't tell what it was and growled out his frustration. Tashio started to run down the hall, thought better of it and waited for the blue wher to catch up. It wouldn't be smart to go in blindly.

He sliced at it again, and while he still missed, at least this time he hadn't hit himself. He had forgotten just how fast the little buggers were, and chirped a command to Valarask.
Perhaps the wher would have better luck attacking than he was.
"When it moves, attack."
