She nodded, standing up to stretch her long, lean body. She was graceful in a way that she was petite, her waist tapered and her masked face poignant. The edges of her ribs however could be seen when caught with the sun in front of her by the shadow left behind them. "You're right, we better get there before it gets dark and cold, that wouldn't be nice." She swished her tail sideways, allowing it to curl about a hindleg as she waited for her sister to get up too.
"Oh, and if Master Baku turns up again I'll have to introduce you!" She grinned, "he's a very nice lion, yes he is!"
She took one step in the right direction, pausing to glance back over one pale shoulder. "Ready?"

Crimson eyes widen slightly, "Oh! I'd love that Kib!" Kirjava's never met a god before, what a treat that'd be! Pushing herself up, she nodded her head, "Of course!" Sand going between her toes, a feeling she's still getting used to. The little rock was becoming a little larger with each stride as the two got closer and closer. It was one thing to be hot during the day, but the night time got extremely cold most of the time. Her tail flicked from side to side slightly, "This one seems real!" Her hopes soared as no new scents could be found and perhaps they have found a place to sleep for the night.
Speeding up till she stepped on some rock, she paused. What it felt like to have something solid on the ground! While it wasn't a cave or anything of that sort, it was close to a lean-to. The rock sort of coming out of the side of the sand dune giving some protection from the heat and the cold.
Lying down, she looked back to Kiburi and smiled happily. It was then that she felt a sharp pain and winced. "Ouch. That hurt!" Turning slightly as she spoke, "My stomach feels funny."

Kiburi came to a stand by the rock glancing around across the darkening desert, it really was a rather pretty place indeed. "Till we find some dens this'll do well I think!" Kib chirped, sitting beside the red and grey lioness as she stared out at the horizon.
Forever dreaming she was, wondering what lay over that dune.
How strange it was that the grass always seemed greener on the other side and when she got there she was never satisfied. She chuckled a little at her own thoughts, wondering if now that she was here she'd slowly forget the sense of adventure she had wanted since just a tiny cub.
The adolescent was startled from her dreaming as her sister complained of stomach ache and turned to gaze at it through bright blue eyes. "Maybe you ate something your tummy not like?" Kib offered as a suggestion, her tummy hadn't really caused her problems but sometimes it ached if she had eaten too much or too little. "When did you last eat?"

Shaking her head slightly as she replied, "I guess that must be it...I don't remember the last good meal I've eaten." Kirjava gave her a sheepish smile. Resting her head on the ground as she curled her tail around her. The pain had subsided and it was all peaceful now.
Crimson eyes gazed out onto the sky as a small sigh escaped. The stars were bright on the black nighttime sky. "I miss being able to do what I want to do..." It was like Aleu had said, she had lost the very thing she loved: freedom.

Kiburi had not been free long enough to be able to miss it to a great extent, but she did know the feeling of boredom very well. At the moment as she was with her new sister and in this new land everything was okay, but she did not think of the weeks that would follow and what they would bring.
However, she knew in her heart that she did not want to stay here forever, she wanted freedom too but only if her sister and the others had it as well. How could she sneak away and leave them all to stay here? She was responsible for them and in the end she would help them escape.
She said nothing of this however, for she didn't want to get hopes up when she did not yet have a plan for escape.
"Perhaps one day things will change." She said with a mysterious glint in her eyes, "but for now I'm going to go and find some food." It was probably a futile attempt as now the sun was dipping in the sky the sunbathing lizards would have taken shelter in their little burrows, but she had to try.
She moved swiftly, a pale shadow against the sand as she sought out food, finding nothing but a scorpion that almost got squished beneath her paws. She knew better than to try and eat it though, for they had a stinger she didn't really want embedded in her face. In fact she had almost given up when she saw movement ahead and was surprised to see an injured lizard scrabbling weakly around on the floor. By the look of the marks on the sand there had been some sort of fight, maybe one of dominance? Either way this was the one that had lost and Kiburi wasn't going to let it suffer any longer. She snapped it's little neck and picking it up in her jaws returned quickly, glad she had not had to go far.
"Iee backsh!" She called, words slurred by the lizard between her jaws. She giggled, dropped the dead lizard beside Kirjava and beamed happily. "I meant...I'm back! And I brought dinner." She looked at the lizard, a little unhappy that it wasn't fatter but knew it was probably the best thing they would find. "The little thing was injured so I snatched it up quickly...I hope it tastes okay."

Kirjava sure did hope things would change and she still kept to that dream in her heart. Perhaps she could visit Kiburi's land along the way. Crimosn eyes twinkled at the thought while she smiled, "I hope so too." Feeling kind of bad that Kib had to go and fetch her some food, but she was feeling rather week and her stomach just now had to start to act up.
While Kib was gone, she thought back to when she was traveling to these lands and how she had met up with a lion. It wasn't unlike Kirjava to meet someone and then never to see them again, it was a life she was used to and made her all the more grateful for her friends.
As Kib came back with a meal, her tail flicked from side to side as she smiled in gratitude, "Thank you so much Sis!" Anything would taste good as long as it was meat. Eating the meal, she was content with her sister here with her and their journey to find a den when a thought came to her. The stomach pains were quite different than what she's ever had before...Stopping in the middle of her chewing, crimson eyes widen with shock as she turned to Kib and just stared as the words came out, "I think I'm pregnant!"

Kiburi gazed at her with wide-eyed confusion, ears twitching forwards like radars to hone in on Kirjavas voice. She was a naive lioness and had been told nothing of how cubs were produced and the word 'pregnant' was more than foreign to her.
Her tail twitched as she lowered her body against the sand, tilting her head curiosly. "What's...pregnant?" She asked with fearful blue eyes, "are you sick? Can I get you anything?" Her forepaws pounded softly on the dirt in front of her as she asked the questions, her whole posture rather nervous as she waited for an answer.
If Kirjava was sick then Kib would have to take care of her that was for sure! She wouldn't leave her sister alone so that the firekin would pick on her. She'd be a bodyguard of sorts!
"Don't worry, I'll help you get better."

Crimson eyes shifted to Kiburi as Kirjava smiled. Shaking her head, "No, I'm not sick...or at least I don't feel sick." Her head turned slightly as her eyes roam over her body to find any signs of illness, but there was none. As the cool air could be felt through her fur, she took it in while curling closer in a ball.
Perhaps Kib didn't realize what that mean, and then her question startled her. Kib didn't know what being pregnant was? In a soft voice, she answered the only way she could think of how to explain it, "I'm going to have a cub," Eyes shifted towards the dunes, "But...this isn't a place for us to be raising a cub, it's so harsh."

"That's good!" Kib chirped contentedly, waving her tail behind her, "feeling sick isn't very nice that's for sure." She sighed, watching Kirjava curiosly, and noting the surprise in her face.
Had she...had she said something wrong?
Her stomach fluttered with nervous butterflies and then when it was explained to her a new light filled the facets of her eyes. Pregnant meant that there was a cub? A cub where? She gazed around. "Where are you keeping the cub? I can't see it?" Oh...OH!! Maybe the stomach pain and the cub was linked? "The cubling is...INSIDE you!?" It was her turn to look startled, perhaps not realising that by now she should know the way of the birds and the bees.
"How'd it get there? Did yah eat it? Does it hurt? I thought cublings were born from love...like...magic." For now the worries of the environment they were in did not trouble her, this new realisation was rather...shocking to say the least.

Shaking her head, Kirjava giggled at Kiburi..it seems she hasn't learned anything about making cubs yet. A smile grew on her muzzle as she shook her head, "Of course I didn't eat a cub...it starts growing inside of me and when it is ready to be born, the cub comes out. Usually a couple start a family and other times there are those that don't have a family." Crimson eyes glanced towards Kib as she thought about what to say. "There is magic, it is called love but that only don't make babies grow. You need a lion and a lioness to produce cubs." Trying to word it the best way possible to explain mating and producing cubs.

This was all very confusing for the adolescent, perhaps made worse by the fact that she had never been in love. Rocky had been her only male friend and she had never really had romantic feelings towards him. Love - it seemed - had evaded her and perhaps forever would if she remained here, for she couldn't really imagine slaves being alowed to have love.
Her ears drooped a little at this thought, her heart aching in her chest as she realised that being enslaved would stop her from experiencing many things. She'd never see Rocky again, or her family and dearest brother or the cubs her mother had said she'd wanted. Even if she did go back, would they even recognise her?
"I'm not sure I understand." She replied after a moment, "but I guess one day maybe I will." She put on a brave smile, eyes lowering to scan Kirjava's stomach. "What does it feel like? ...knowing you're gonna be a mother I mean." Her eyes sparkled, "I'll help you look after the cubling and make sure it's protected from the meanie firekin! Don't worry about that sis, if any lion lays a claw on your baby they'll have me to deal with."
Yes...a skinny and rather tired slave.

A smile slowly spread across her features as Kirjava listened to Kiburi. That sounded nice, to have protection for her cub once he/she is born. Thinking about the question, she pondered on it for some time before replying, "It makes me excited, that there will be a cub that's a part of me. I can't wait to see what the cub will look like and what the personality will be. Though, I'm a bit scared because I've never looked after anything in my life and I hope I can be a good mom..." She paused, "Though, I just hope that no harm comes to the cub because of me having on here and my status in this pride."
Just as she finished speaking, a painful kick came from the cub inside and she winced slightly, "Sometimes it is painful when the cub moves around or kicks." Nodding slightly before she felt some more pain, "Man, I haven't felt this pain before...I think the cub might be ready to be born..." She wasn't sure when the cub was going to be born, but if this pain was any indication, than it couldn't be that far away now.

Kiburi was still in complete awe over the miracle of life and how it was created, her eyes fixated on the curve of her sister's belly. Had her mother gone through the same stage? And would she go through it again? It seemed painful...and mothers...mothers go through that pain to bring life into the world.
She turned her head to gaze at her own skinny belly the only thing prominent being the ribs that jutted out beneath her fur.
"It sounds nice, nice to care for someone who's dependant on you and won't judge you." She suddenly liked that idea. "And I'm sure everything will be okay." It was then that she wished to share her ideas but bit on her bottom lip, holding back the words. To make a promise to help free her would be hollow, she couldn't say it just yet, not until she had a full proof plan.
"Maybe you could sing to it? Or talk to it?" Kiburi questioned, "maybe it can hear from inside there."

Ears flicked as Kirjava hummed softly, taking the advice from Kiburi. Perhaps her cub could hear her and be calmed by this. Crimson eyes flicked back to her sister as she spoke softly, "I hope the cub doesn't resent me for raising him or her in this place..." That was her fear, that her cub would come to resent her for being of such a lower rank, a slave.
Inching closer to Kiburi, she leaned against the female and just hummed. Teleka's words came back to her when he first captured her, that she should have turned back and never came here. But, if she had and she feels in part of her heart that she should of, then she would have never met Kiburi and gained such a great friend or the new life inside of her. Though, she wondered when her time would come for the cub to come out? A sheepish smile came to her face, "I hope you don't mind being with me when I have my cub, Sis."

Kiburi joined in with the humming, pausing only to answer Kirjava's fears. "I'm sure the cubling won't mind, as long as it is with its mama then everything will be okay." Kiburi was sure of this, for she knew if her mother had been a slave she would have loved her just the same. The pearly lioness shifted her position once more, tucking her forepaws up against her chest and closing her eyes, a soft purr emanating from her throat.
She wanted to help any way she could to make sure the little life growing within her sister was happy and content. The whole porspect of having a little one around to help care for was rather exciting and brought about a mothering instinct within her.
Then at Kirjava's last words her slate blue eyes flashed open and she nodded joyfully. "Oh! You really want me there? I'd love to!" She was overly curious about how a cub was birthed and also rather proud that she had been given such an honour.
((we can probably wrap this RP up in a couple more posts, ready for the birth RP if you wanted to do that soon. ))
