"What's it matter to you?" Yareha retorted. He didn't want to explain himself, wasn't even sure he could explain anything, but especially not to his sister. He was still breathing heavily, adrenaline still rushing through his system. Probably good that Mazin was backing off like the coward he was.

"Get off me Aysu," the lion told his sister again, more calmly than before. This time he wasn't actively trying to get her off. He knew the fight was over. But damnit, he hadn't won.

Well, good. It looked like Yareha was calming down. Or at least, that he wasn't going to go and attack anybody, including Mazin. Both of them were bleeding, though it seemed like Mazin had gotten the worst of it. Still, there was no telling from up here what sort of injuries Yareha had suffered.

Aysu was still glaring at Yareha, she didn't trust him enough right now to let him up, even as he calmed down. But now he was outnumbered and in the company of lions who didn't have social consequences holding them back.. so, very reluctantly, she stepped back- but not without giving him a little shove as she pushed off of him and put her feet back on the ground.

"Do you ever think before you act, you idiot!" she demanded, "What kind of example is this to set for your cubs? And you're already in enough trouble without trying to kill a slave!"

Uthuli took a couple steps back now that Aysu seemed determined to yell at Yareha. He glanced back to Mazin but didn't dare turn his full attention away from the siblings before him.

"Are you OK, Mazin?" he asked, his voice far quieter than Aysu's.

As he began to calm down, the adrenaline wore off and he started to shake. Finally he took a deep breath and sat down, though he wasn't sure what was going to happen now. His first thought was he would be best off going back to the slave dens now and almost immediately he worried about Laelia-- but Yareha wouldn't have snapped at him like that if he'd already hurt her, would he?

Then he realized Uthuli had spoken to him, he turned his eyes to the pale lion before him and nodded. Uthuli was so much like his parents, both of them.

Yareha hissed as his sister shoved him slightly and got to his feet slowly. He felt bruised all over, his left forepaw was bleeding heavily and too tender to walk on, his right shoulder ached abominably and Mazin was still alive.

"Yeah, I do think," he spat. "And that's the problem, isn't it?" He'd tried to think about what would be best for Laelia, and how to do good by her, and look where it had gotten him! Apparently going with his instincts would have been a far better choice in that case! He had the grace to look down as she mentioned the cubs. It was an awful example, but there was no reason they had to know about it.

"It wouldn't have mattered though, if he'd been the King," Yareha added, glaring over where Mazin was talking to the other lion.

Yareha did not look happy and that was understandable. Latitare, however, had had enough stress and drama for the day and was just hoping that this was all over soon.

Aysu continued to glare at Yareha as he struggled to his feet, clearly hurt but certain it was more her own doing than Mazin's- though the paw she could see bleeding in her peripheral vision was most certainly his doing. She didn't move as he answered and when he finished, she knew she didn't have the patience to deal with him.

"Go get yourself cleaned up and go home, Yareha," she said forcefully, not foreseeing his rage being a problem for anybody but Mazin, especially now that Yareha was hurt- but this wouldn't be the end of this.

Uthuli didn't like the idea of just sending the attacker on his way but truthfully, neither of them had any authority to do anything but exactly what they were doing. It might have been lucky they were the only ones around- and that anyone was around at all. Where had that eagle come from?

Absently, he glanced up to the sky.

Mazin was too tired and sore to really react to anything Yareha had to say in his defense but he shook his head slightly at the comment about his being king. He wasn't sure it made sense, whatever Yareha was trying to say, but he was tired of it. He seemed to be one of the few who could just let it go, but then.. the idea that he hadn't was part of the story he and Laelia shared.

"Yeah, fine," he muttered and limped off. Not back in the direction of Laelia's den and certainly not in any direction where he'd have to go near Mazin. It would be the long way home, but that was probably a good thing right now.

He knew perfectly well that it was best to not get anywhere near his own cubs until he'd managed to calm himself down and clean himself up as best he could. Great Lion, he was going to hurt in the morning.

Latitare breathed a sight of relief as Yareha departed from the rest. There was a limited amount of trouble the white lion could get into on his own, and the eagle foresaw that the rest of the day should be simple in comparison to what he'd already witnessed. The bird followed Yareha...from a safe distance in the sky. He had a feeling it was still too soon to land anywhere near his assigned lion.

Aysu watched as Yareha went off, shaking off any sympathy for his limp when she finally turned around with a sigh. She looked back and forth between Mazin and Uthuli before finally settling back on her cousin.

"Tell me you didn't provoke him in some way," she said, though she knew it was ridiculous to even try to blame the slave for this. She walked around to take a place by his side.

Uthuli's eyes came back down to Yareha as he limped away and he didn't take them off of him even when Aysu turned her attention to Mazin. He stepped aside and though his ears were on the conversation around him, he watched Yareha go-- spotting the eagle following after him. Strange.

Again, Mazin shook his head- and was surprised by how dizzy is made him so he stopped abruptly, which didn't actually help much at first.

"Of course not," he muttered, "Unless you count existing."

He didn't know how much to explain, he wasn't sure any of it mattered. It was easy enough to guess why it happened without him saying anything more than he said. He still wanted to go to Laelia but he didn't want her or the cubs to see him like this now.

"Can you help me get back to the slave dens?" he asked.

Aysu sighed and nodded, steadying herself by Mazin's side so he could lean on her if necessary. Stupid Yareha, he claimed to think before he acted but what would attacking Mazin really do for him?

"OK, come on," she said.

Uthuli's attention was drawn completely to the others now that Mazin was ready to go back to the dens. He probably didn't need so much help as he needed someone to stay with him and, even with Aysu there, Uthuli wasn't just going to leave them.

He nodded and took a place at the lead of the little group.

Mazin sighed and pushed himself up to his feet, taking a second to steady himself before nodding to Aysu and starting them off on their way. He felt somewhere ridiculous but he was glad to have them there, he was sure they had saved his life. Even so, this was going to be a very quiet, awkward walk back home.

Fin!
