By this time, Malodore had removed the bone splinters and was gently dabbing on the bonemeld clay; the substance was inert until activated with a small amount of FEAR. Carefully, the plague doctor rebuilt and reconnected shattered bone, sculpting the clay with gentle sweeps of its claws. "I do not think so... some people tend to themselves in different ways," it said, with a soft sigh. "You cannot force someone to heal - an odd lesson for me to learn, I must admit. But sometimes even the body cannot be made to heal in the way one thinks it should. The mind and the emotional heart are even more unruly creatures." It fell silent at her next question. "I need... work, knowledge. Answers. Research and study. These things I can find for myself. I suppose above all else, I require time... and that I shall have, if I only wait for it," it said, slowly.

"I see." The Vetala said softly, it's androgynous voice lowering into a static whisper. It made sense to her, that people got over things in their own way in their own time; it was one of those things she never really thought about until it was laid out in front of her, and once it was she felt a little silly for thinking otherwise. "What if...he doesn't pull out of it?" Christof, as far as she knew him, had more tunnelvision than anyone she had ever met. Once the blinders were up, it was hard to bring them back down.
"Don't forget to take time for yourself, too. Working to dissipation won't help anyone." Somehow she felt the need to remind it of this, even though it had always seemed like a very level headed, incredibly smart undead. As she lapsed into silence to watch it work, admiring the expert way it's claws shaped and repaired the broken bones in the corpse's chest, she started to lose herself in thought. It wasn't profound enough to put her in a near trance, but it was enough to make her at least quieter than normal for a short amount of time.
"But...if you need something else to do, I think I might need your help with something...or at least your thoughts." Amrita said after her length silence, sounding as hesitant to bring it up as she truely was; she could already imagine the responses, and had never been particularly good with refuting other's opinions.Sosiqui Aaaaa sorry this took so long OAO

"I... I don't know," Malodore admitted, in response to her question about Christof. "I am not talented when it comes to mending the heart or the mind, other than in the most literal, physical sense. Perhaps a counselor...?" It shook its head. "I wish I had a solution, but perhaps it will not be needed. Calder and Barth know him better than I do - you could ask them? Calder in particular seems to have a great understanding of emotion. Certain emotions, at least." It smiled wanly at her reminder. " Grazie - I shall not. Honestly, the work is soothing." Even as it spoke, it was still moving deftly, threading a needle as it finished reconstructing the bone. "I shall trim the tattered edges; they will not hold a stitch," it mused, pinning the needle to one sleeve before moving in with a fine scalpel. "Perhaps you would like to look through the skin-patches and select a pleasing color?" It looked up again, though, when she broke the silence again. "What is it? I am always happy to assist friends, however I can."

"Ah, thanks anyway! I'll ask Calder...later. I think he needs a break from tough things." The Vetala lowered her head, pressing an unmoving chin against her boney knees. It seemed that even Malodore had things it wasn't sure of, and in a way it was refreshing to hear; especially since it admitted to not knowing, but had a backup source to turn her towards. Admirable!
"Yes, please! Umm...where are they?" She was determined to match the skin as best as she could, to make Christof less worried; she had kept the full extent of her damage hidden from him, after all.
"I did something...really risky a while back, and it actually worked. But now I'm thinking we could use it somehow to help our side out, so I was hoping I could get my friends together to talk about it, to see if I could be of use." Amrita was rambling, but she was eager to just get the idea out there; she knew it was a risk to her, but she needed to do something. "So um...if you wanted to be there too, that'd be...really helpful. 'cause you're so smart!" And she wasn't.

"Here," Malodore replied, leaning over and pushing the small case the kobold had brought over towards her. "You may have to pick a few different pieces. Nothing in there is of the right size all by itself, unfortunately. I don't keep much on hand, though perhaps I should begin cultivating an emergency selection." It opened its beak in a smile; that was a pleasant thought. It would be a nice diversion for a while, something to do as a break from its more serious work. It carefully began trimming the edges of the wound, though it looked up at Amrita when she mentioned risks. "What happened? I would be pleased to assist with whatever it may be..." It did sound a bit anxious at the idea of her plan being risky, but really.... was there any safety anywhere, anymore?

The Vetala itself didn't move, but a disembodied hand did, her thin and gnarled fingers closing around the case enough to bring it closer to her. She opened it, fingering through the pieces as best as she could, giving each careful thought. The pale ones were over looked, but the darker ones were all compared and judged.
"I possessed a Hunter. A living one." She explained quietly after a moments consideration. Then, as if her news didn't matter, she turned the case back towards the Doctor, a couple of somewhat matching pieces laid out on top for it to see. "Would these ones be okay?"

"You..." Malodore very nearly dropped its needle and thread; it stared at her in astonishment. "You used your power to take over a Hunter's body? Did... what happened?" A moment later, it realized it had also been asked a question. "Ah, si," it responded, clearly distracted.

The Vetala seemed to curl into herself a little more, going back to hugging her knees. "Yes." She confirmed, her androgynous voice very suddenly shy. "Um...w-well...W-we were fighting and I took him over and I dragged him into Halloween to see what would happen, but I got forced out after that..." She trailed off, shifting awkwardly where she sat. "I was flung back into this body, and I got out of the house just in time to see him vanish, but...He was disintegrating." She trailed off, her aimless hands making themself busy by strumming against her legs.
"But...now that I know I can do it, I...I want to be helpful. I just...don't know how to take advantage of it." This was why she wanted Malodore and her friend's input; they were smarter than her even on their off days while drowsy. They'd know the best way to make use of her budding talents!

"That is... but that is wonderful!" Malodore's entire being seemed to light up, and it leaned towards her earnestly. "What a marvelous application of your ability! And such potential... did he die, do you know? If we could kill them so easily... what an astonishing occurrence, absolutely splendid..." Apparently, killing Hunters was another way to make Malodore happy.

That was certainly not the reaction she had been expecting. It physically took her back, leaning a little bit away as it leaned in to her. In her entire memory, she had never seen Malodore this eager; it was surprising, but in a flattering way. When she realized that she had leaned back she corrected the issue, sitting back up straight.
"You...You think so?" She was starting to get excited herself, for the first time feeling that she could actually be of use to everyone else. "He...He didn't die. He grabbed a pendant and vanished. But...if we could keep one from getting to the pendant..." She trailed off, certainly following the whole Killing Hunters line of thought.
"But...I think first...I would want to focus on learning about them first. Studying them. I just...don't know where to start."

"I do think so!" It nodded enthusiastically. "Thinking to try such a thing in the heat of battle... here, I think, we Undead have an advantage. They seem to expect us to be stupid and slow, and if we are not, then we can surprise them with our cleverness, our swiftness of thought." It realized it had neglected its task and quickly turned back to making neat stitches, reaching for the patches she indicated and starting to put them in place as well. "They are... well, they are humans, of a kind. Presumably, any knowledge relating to humans would also relate to them, at least in terms of physiology and anatomy..."

"Then I'll act as stupid and slow around them as I can, from now on." Amrita's voice seemed to smile, but her face was as unmoving as ever. Malodore's enthusiasm was welcome and contagious, and suddenly the Vetala felt a lot better about the whole thing. Perhaps bringing it up to others wouldn't be such a bad idea!
"I only know what Professor Savage taught us in Human Studies...do you know more than that?" The glow emitting from her eyes seemed to get brighter with curiousity, the smoking whisps curling and twisting same as always. "What else do you think could we use it for?"

"You might want to talk to Professor QB and... ah, what were they called? Ah, yes... DETH. They seem to know a great deal about humans. More than Professor Savage," it added, dryly. It carefully put a neat line of stitches in place. "You could use it for... for anything, really. If you can control them, we can walk them to their deaths, perhaps even force information out of their minds. As long as we don't kill you in the process..."

Professor QB? Deth? Neither name had much meaning to her, but the slight change in conversation had her attention shift. For anything, it said. Anything? She considered it seriously, her eyes dulling as she lost herself in thought. Kill them, take information all at the risk of being killed by her classmates... That part didn't sound so good. Would there be a way to assure them who she was if she took a body near them? Would they even believe her? In this day and age, even new first years were under suspicion. Damn those Hunters, making them tur---...Wait!
"I could...make them turn on each other!" The Vetala gasped suddenly, her voice pitching with possibility. "Sometimes they move in packs, right? I could...I could slip in to one, and attack it's comrades!"

"You could, indeed." Malodore nodded its approval as it worked. "Tell me, what precisely happened? Was the Hunter fully under your thrall? Was there a struggle? Did you have to touch him to take over his body? Tell me everything, per favore. Stitching always goes faster when one has such fascinating topics to discuss."
