The bird bobs twice, emphatically. "Mean, very mean. Kill things and wear their skins, mean." Her follow up question had him pausing. He flies down to hover in front of her, trying to understand her question. "Live? They live at their homes? Some in fields, some forests. But they get big like you . . . not as big, but bigger. Then they go where they want to go. I do not follow."

Leilani became very confused with the little bird now. "They wear skin? Don't we all have skin?" She had no idea what the little guy was talking about. Then he seemed to confuse her even more. "You mean they dont live in these flowers?" Leilani always imagined that flutters lived in the flowers, and usually stayed real small. She never thought about the fact that they could get crushed easily like that. After all, she had met a few others that were not as concerned as she. "So thats why I never see them? I always wait here for them!"

The bird's odd bobbing shrug answers her question. "I do not know why you never see them. But no one lives in flowers. Flowers are for drinking, not living. And the ones you ask about do not wear the skins, the ones who crush wear the skins. All have own skin, mean ones have skins of others they wear and smell of darkness and death."

Leilani began to understand what the littel bird was talking about, and for the first time, she realized what she had never seen flutters among the flowers. "They have their own homes. Now I must find where they live!" she said, half jokingly. "And these mean ones wear skins? the skins of the animals they kill? That sounds scary. I would not want to meat one of those!"
Leilani was starting to get a but hungry now, and the bird had said that the flowers were tasty. She bent down to sniff (and really, to double check to make sure a flutter was not LIVING inside) a flower. She then cautiously took a nibble and tasted the bright yellow flower.

The bird sighs as it watches the mare. This one was strange. She actually talked to him, even if she seemed to know nothing of the world.
Well, she was nice. She clearly needed someone to watch over her. Deciding, he settled on her horn. "We find them together. I do not know where, but we find them."

"Yes, we will find them, someday." Leilani said, half listening to the bird. At the oint she had grabbed a bit of flower, and nibbled it a few moments before spitting it out. "Wait! We will find them? You want to help ME find them?" she asked the bird as she wondered a bit. "How is this bird going to help me?" she asked herself. Just as she did, she realized that this little bird seemed to know what he was talking about, and knew much more than she did. "That sounds like a plan!"

The bird makes a chuckling chirping sound in the back of its throat as it moves down to the base of her horn and settles in, burrowing into the hair of her fetlock as it settles over her forehead. He hadn't thought he would find someone to care for. Now that he had, he was going to enjoy the perks.
"Yes, plan. Sleep now. Plan latter."

Leilani watched for a moment until she could no longer see the little bird. She felt her hair ruffle a bit as the bird settled in. Leilani was in no mood to sleep, she was to excited, but she knew that the little bird must be tired with all the flitting around he had done. She decided to continue on with her day, but careful not to disturb Flutter. "When he wakes up, I'll be ready" she said to herself as she walked over to the stream again, carefully leaning down for a final drink of water before leaving the immediate area.

The bird coos as it resettles with her movement, but doesn't allow that to disturb it enough to wake. He happily rides, head tucked under a wing, as the mare ranges.[[ I'm thinking this is a good stopping point. Though we can continue - or move to a new rp if you'd like. ]]
