Spinel managed to break free of the ice quickly, but as he saw the attack coming there was no time for fancy movements. So he just dropped flat on the ground and let the attack sail right over his head.
Maybe they could spice this up just a little bit. "Spinel, Rock Smash! Knock it down a peg!"
The Sableye sprang to his feet and rushed forward to swing a fist at the Buneary again, aiming to chip away at her defenses.

Spinel jumped into the air in a move that looked much like a jumping jack to dodge this attack, grinning all the while. <"You've got bad aim! Do you practice missing so badly, or does it come naturally?"> he taunted.
"Another Rock Smash!" Lyle called.
Spinel had barely set foot on the ground when he lunged forward again to deliver the attack.

Virgilia fell to the ground from the attack. She glared angrily at the Sableye's irreverence. Such insolence! She lashed out with a frozen paw.

Spinel hopped right over the frozen paw, cackling at the Buneary's poor aim.
"Keep going, Spinel! You're doing great!" Lyle said.
His pokemon wound up his arm for another smack.

Virgilia was dropped to the floor once more. She staggered to her feet before throwing another bolt of lightning at the sableye, almost defiantly.

Spinel yelped as he was struck my lightning once more. OK, this attack the bunny could hit with. And this one hurt, too! He could have sworn his head fins were still sparking as he shook his head to clear it.
Lyle was worried what his pokemon got hit again, but the Sableye was still standing and looked energetic enough, though the Buneary looked a bit more worse for the wear. "Just a little bit more, Spinel!"
Spinel hardly needed to be told. Hi rushed forward for another smash.

Virgilia was blasted back once more, but crawled unsteadily to her feet. She backed away from the sableye, towards the hill.
"You may have won this time, loudmouth, but you have not seen the last of Virgilia, Lady of - Wah!"
Her declaration of vengeance was interrupted with a tumble down the hill, having lost her balance once more. With a crash she hit the bottom, but she got indignantly to her feet, her pride unblemished in the crippling defeat and subsequent fall.
I'll get him back... Somehow.

When the Buneary crawled, then tumbled, away, Lyle let it go. It was clearly beaten, and he still didn't have any pokeballs. Instead he bounded forward to scoop up Spinel. "Great job, you beat it again!" he congratulated, spinning the pokemon around. "Now let's get you to the Pokemon Center. Maybe the nurse will have a treat for you." With that he headed for the city as Spinel climbed on top of his hat.
