"That's too bad. You sure you're into men?" Looking at the facts; she got no enjoyment out of seeing him (which made sense because he was still creeped out, but since when did he ever let that stop him?), and she was practically dating a little girl. All in all, he had his doubts as to her preference. Actually, he had doubts about Mot's too, but at least Mot was aware of his doubts before hand. "They weren't filthy, you watched me wash them!" Mac snorted, rolling his eyes. What a ghoul. What a special ghoul.
"What do you fight about?" There were a lot of things he could ask or guess, knowing their personalities; but if it was bad enough that she was acting this way there might be more to it. He couldn't try to help without knowing what was wrong, after all.

You know what Mac got? A punch to the arm. Courtesy of Hel.
“Yes!” She hissed, “I am into men! I am with Mot, am I not?” Go ahead Mac, question his masculinity. “Your hands will be dirty no matter how many times you wash them.” The ghoul snorted back.
“…Marriage.” Hel replied, and thought about it for a bit longer. Surely they fought about other things? What happened at Scarentine’s? Oh yeah, another squabble about marriage…another one of their last fights? Oh yeah, not about marriage at least, but still, it had been something she had done to really upset him. Hel rubbed the back of her neck. “Then there was this one time I took him flying without asking…um…He was not happy afterwards.” Understatement. “We fought then too.” The ghoul frowned and rubbed her chest where her heart ached at the memories of that one. She still didn’t like it.
“…You can not change yourself completely…and…if we are always having tiffs because of the way I am…then…?” Hel raised her hands and maybe for the first time since Mac had known her, she looked utterly at a loss and looking for an answer as she stared up at him.

"That's exactly why I'm asking!" Mac whined after being punched, rubbing his arm with his oh so dirty hand. "Well, you just remember how many times I touched you in the past, that aughta make you feel all sorts of awesome." Mac clicked his tongue, grinning like a fiend...right up until she had to go and say that word.
Good feelings gone.
"Marriage?!" Mac sputtered out in surprise. Hel. Marriage? Really?! Was this like...an epidemic? First Lizzy, now Hel...what was even going on...?! For once, and just this once, Mac had to side with Mot. No wonder they got into fights! Marriage? They were still in school! He looked all set to put the ghoul in her place on that subject, when he noticed how...vulnerable she looked. He'd seen her wounded and naked, too weak to really fight back, and yet...this was his first time seeing her quite like this.
"Er...Well...no, you can't completely change, but...a relationship is meeting at the middle I guess? Yeah...you gotta give, and he's gotta give too. Not completely, just until...happy medium, yanno? But uh...that requires talking...and forethought. Which I don't think you're good at." He teased, reaching out to ruffle her hair. He hadn't changed completely, but at least he knew where he stood in regards to Lizzy, and generally how to not completely ruin things. Hopefully, anyway.
"But uh...I'd really advise dropping the Marriage subject, buddy. It's kind of...really uncomfortable for a guy to hear. We're all still in school...a little young for that."

Hel punched Mac in the arm, again, and then paused to consider that statement. Hel then looked like she swallowed a bug. “Oh sweet Sally, thank you for that, truly.” The ghoul replied dryly.
But her expression plummeted as well as Mac uttered the M-word like it was poison as well. She just couldn’t win. As much as Hel liked to think she had a poker face…she really didn’t, so she didn’t bother trying to hide her crest fallen expression as she listening to the psychopomp, her shoulders slumping. “Ya…ya…” She muttered, looking up at him rather pitifully as he teased her and ruffled her hair. “I know I do not have forethought.” She muttered, and she looked like she wanted to debate the marriage topic with him, like she had done with Shun, but something told her that it’d kind of be…well…pointless to try and explain to her the kind of culture she came from.
No one here seemed to get it, and even her own sister mocked the concept of marriage and even trolled her with it.
“There is no middle ground with that, huh?” Hel asked bitterly, kicking a pebble that was on the path. “So I am the one who has to give, and I do not see that as fair, but no one seems to hold the same stock in it as I do…so of course no one cares…” She grumbled, and then shook her head. “Forget it.” She kicked the pebble again and cast a sideways glance at him. “Taking you to lunch. Hope you are hungry, friend.”

"You're very welcome, friend." Mac mocked with a chuckle, right before everything went to s**t.
"Why are you so hooked on the marriage idea? Ghouls like you generally try to avoid it. I'm sure there's middle ground somewhere it's just...why?" He frowned down at the ghoul, narrowing his eyes as if trying to figure her out. "Also, don't you dare assume no one cares; I'd like to get married one day, just...not at eighteen, while in school, where I still have more important things to do than tie my life to someone." He flicked her for good measure, though the frown remained. Whatever had Hel's bloomers in a twist had to have been something super important, or super outrageous.
"When am I not hungry?" Food? He was good at food. The boil could eat.

“ Ghouls like me? What is that suppose to mean?” Hel returned, giving Mac an odd look. She scoffed then, throwing her arms into the air. “ What is more important than tying your life to sometime?” She cried. “ Please do enlighten me!” She narrowed her eyes right back at him. “ Are you not tying yourself to someone when you are their boilfriend? What really makes marriage that different? Or is it because by just remaining a boilfriend, you can easily bail?” She puffed her cheeks out, and after that seemed to be done talking about the subject. If Mac wanted a solid answer as to why she had her bloomers in a bunch over this, he wasn’t getting it right now, and it was very obvious she wasn’t answering the question. She scowled as he flicked her, and she waved a hand at the offending hand. “ Stop touching me with your dirty hands!” She growled, though it was half hearted at best and then shoved him playfully. “ Well good…because I found this place…where one orders quite a few different plates, and the servings are huge, and you share your plates with others…” Seemed interesting…and this was no place Mot would enjoy.

"You're a jackin tomcat, Lady. Marriage is the last word I thought I'd hear out of your mouth." He snorted. Almost immediately Hel went off on a rampage, and Mac twitched.
"Because, Hel. Marriage to normal people is---" He twitched again as she continued on, barely giving him a chance to interject. But at the word bail, his eyes narrowed dangerously, his hands curling into fists. "I'M NOT JACKIN' BAILING, YOU STUPID GHOUL!" Mac yelled, stopping walking immediately. "Marriage means starting a family. A family, Hel. We're teenagers, we shouldn't be raising scarelings! I can barely take care of myself! I don't need the extra stress of trying to juggle a scareling too. Plus school, plus the Hunters...it's too much added responsibility right now, not a matter of bailing, and don't you ever say that to me again." He said, clearly stressing the words at the end. There were a lot of things he could put up with, and a lot of things he'd gotten angry about in an attempt to hide something else; this was different, this was a sore spot and a dangerous one at that; he meant every word.
Clearly, food was no longer important in his mind.

Well Mac. You should be around when she talks to Mot, because practically every other word out of her mouth is marriage.
The ghoul’s brow twitched as he said something about normal people, and as soon as he clenched his fists and started to yell, Hel tensed. She stopped walking as well, whipping around to face the reaper clenching her fists and narrowed her eyes in return. Jack. Boil had a set of lungs on him when he needed to. By some miraculous chance of Jack, the ghoul happened to wait until he was done with his rant before firing back with her own, though her hands shot into the air in exasperation. “Who says you need to have scarelings as soon as you are married, Mac!? I most certainly did not say that, and that is not what marriage means to me! It is the bond between spouses, the commitment to each other!” She stressed, and then just went and ruffled her hair like a mad woman.
“Argh!” She screamed. “We are dropping this topic now.” Hel snarled. “When I said forget it, it should have been forgotten!” Things were now aaaaaawkward.

"THAT's what Marriage means to pretty much everyone else, Hel. You say Marriage, you think Family. You think family, you think scarelings. It's not a word boils want to hear right now! Most boils, anyway." Mac waved a hand, dismissing the comment entirely. "Did you tell Mot that, Hel? Did you ever clarify what marriage meant to you? Remember, a relationship is about conversation!" His arms folded across his chest, leaning back slightly. "For that matter, are you ready to make that commitment? Are you ready to pledge yourself to a boil who won't touch you? Who can't even hold you at night?"
Oh no, he wasn't dropping it. Not yet, anyway. But soon.

“Well everyone else is stupid then!” Hel retorted, stomping a booted foot. Oh, how dare he hand wave at her! “Yes.” She snapped. “I did tell him that! Do not dare look so smu—“ She paused though, and her expression faltered as he questioned her commitment. Yeah! She wanted to say. She was utterly committed. She wanted to say that but…
But she was sorely lacking the confidence in herself to be a good companion for him.
That was a whole other topic she really didn’t want to drag up.
She could still be upset though, in Mot’s defense. “…He is trying now!” She informed, her brows furrowing. “Because he…he did hold me all night…” But he almost didn’t. He almost left her because they were talking about marriage again. Hel’s shoulders slumped. She didn’t want to talk about this anymore. She really didn’t. Stupid Mac and his stupid points and his stupid words planting even more stupid seeds of doubt and worry into her stupid head.
The anger fell from her face as well when her shoulders slumped, and she stared at the ground for a long moment before she turned on her heel and kept on walking.

The way Hel slumped made him feel instantly terrible. If there was ever one ghoul that expression should have avoided, it was her. As she turned heel he started off after her, slipping his hands into his pockets. The moments of silence that followed were uncomfortable at best, and in the end he just couldn't take it.
"Look, Hel, relationships aren't easy and they do take effort...but there's a fine line between needing to work it out and clashing entirely." Mac started, admittedly awkwardly. "But don't settle, don't try to make yourself comfortable in this if you're really not. You deserve a boil who'll give you all you want but doesn't put up with your s**t." He chuckled softly, reaching out to ruffle her hair again simply because he could. "Try to work it out, but don't try to force it. If you have to force it, he doesn't deserve you~"
He scratched his cheek and then slid his hand back to rub the back of his neck. Advice giving was awkward, very awkward.
"So uh...what about this food place?"

Hel stomped along a bit; her posture slightly stiff and awkward as well as she tried to keep her fists clenched as she walked. Totally didn’t bother her. No. That’s what she was telling herself.
She made her to keep ahead of the psychopomp, so that he couldn’t see her face as they kept heading towards the place she had wanted to take him. He may have heard a sniffle, and Hel raised her arm to rub it vigorously across her eyes. No. She was not crying. Hel Brynhildr did not cry. That one time in her room when she got back from the Isles? She had something in her eyes. Twice. She was quiet though as she walked, and though she didn’t turn to acknowledge him or anything, she was listening. As much as she could curse Mac’s name to high Halloween and back, she did respect him.
He didn’t put up with her s**t after all, and that garnered her respect.
Once again…she hated that he sounded…right. Did she…not know what she really wanted? It really felt like that. Sure…the last time she had been with Mot, it had been nice, really nice…but she still felt like she was…tip-toeing around a mine field. When would she set the next one off? Did Freya feel like this? Hel mulled over this with a sour expression until Mac brought up the place.
“…Almost there.” She muttered, and walked for a moment longer before coming to an abrupt stop. Sorry Mac, if you ended up colliding into the back of Hel. Here Hel paused and crossed her arms.
“Ya know…” She started, her brows furrowed. “…I think you will always be an asshat. That is not going to change…but that is you.” She paused, struggling with what she had wanted to say next. “So…as much as I am certain I will always b***h about that…I just wanted to say too…” Hel trailed off, and glanced at the taller reaper over her shoulder. “…I have not been in your company as much as I have been others, but in the few encounters I have had with you, I feel like…they are some of the most meaningful.” Hel scowled now, her cheeks tinting red as she whipped her head back around to the front. Ew, getting all touchy feely was gross. “I…consider you to be one of my…ugh, saying best is juvenile…so I shall say one of my closest companions…you put me in line when I need it and even if I think you are the biggest asshats in all of Halloween…I trust you whole heartedly...and for everything I wanted to say…thank you.”
Hel rubbed the back of her neck. Jack damn she felt stupid now. Battling was way better. With a bit of scowl, she kept on walking again, stomping her way harder this time.

Mac's big weakness was a crying ghoul, especially if the crying ghoul was important to him; so far though, only two matched that description and one of them was right in front of him, trying to not show that she was doing it. He could tell; that sniffle was unmistakable and nobody really rubbed their eyes like that for no reason. Nice try, Hel. He followed her regardless, waiting for her to do or say what she needed to; unfortunately he did collide with her, but it was only a bump as he couldn't fully put the breaks on his momentum in time.
What she had to say nearly floored him.
For the duration of her awkward little speech he really didn't know what to think, let alone say. He always imagined he was just a pain in her side, but he really never imagined that those other words would come out of her mouth. Ever. In fact, he just assumed he was put up with, not...appreciated. It made him feel all sorts of awkward. So much so that he even stayed put for a few moments after she stomped off, chuckling to her back at how angry her steps were. Embarrassed much, Hel?
"Hey now, that's not fair! Saying all that and just leaving!" He tsked, taking longer strides to catch up to her and when he did his arms slid around her waist, pulling her back against his chest to trap her there, not as a sign of affection. "I appreciate you too, Hel. Even if you are a stupid, stubborn, piggle-headed masochist." Such love he was showing, really. "You know, between you and I? I'd date you. I'm not gonna now, but if I could? I would." And then he let her go, shoving his hands in his own pockets. Lizzy meant to much to him to even imagine breaking up with her, but if things with Lizzy never moved the way they did? He'd probably be working to steal her away from Mot.

The longer the silence went on, the more stupid Hel felt. The ghoul clenched her fists and scowled, stomping on the ground harder. Stupid Mot! Telling people your feelings was really dumb and—
The reaper was about to turn around when she finally heard the Psychopomp speak up, almost expecting him to mock her, and let out a rather undignified surprised sound as arms around her waist halted her angry march forward and pulled her backwards instead. Hel blinked as she was pulled against him, and paused, tilting her head back to stare up at him. Okay, she felt less stupid as he said he appreciated her too, and rolled her eyes with a snort at words like ‘stupid’, ‘pig-headed’ and ‘masochist’. “That is not a very nice way to talk about yourself, dear Ma—“ Now it was Hel’s turn to just pause and stare after him in surprise as he moved away from her.
He’d date her, huh?
Hel’s mouth hung open as she stared at his back for a long while before she just simply…grinned. Her grin was face splitting as she finally got out of her stunned stupor and jogged to catch up to him. The ghoul swung her hips, bumping the side of them into Mac’s side as they walked in a playful gesture before she laced her fingers behind her neck and glanced up at him. “It would be like that song says: You and me could write a bad romance.” Still she grinned, her bi-polar disorder now putting her in a rather good mood after that admission, all things considered.
“Almost there!”
