"Come on then, let's see if you can keep up," Hewa told her niece before breaking into a run after Hraga. She wasn't intent on being right in front, but she was definitely not about to trail behind.
Nisi recognized the lioness who'd been her first duel, who charged up by the leader of their team, but she was up and gone before she had a chance to acknowledge her. The others she didn't know yet, and couldn't help but be interested in. Watching them distracted her enough that she didn't immediately take off after her aunt, putting her close enough to the darker lion to hear his suggestion once she did set to following.
"I like that idea," she concurred. She didn't know much about strategy, but she did want to do something other than follow Hewa around all day.
When Niwasha'Hewa looked back, she was less than pleased that Nisitayeshaua was not right behind her...no, she was back with someone Hewa was pretty sure was Hongshan. "Nisi, come on! Stop tiptoeing."
The former swamp-lion still ran like the sand hurt her feet, it was ridiculous.

Yes, they were moving! At last! Ran joined the charge, following Hraga and doing her best not to expend all of her energy in this initial sprint. She was going to need all of the energy she could muster for the upcoming fight, after all. As she ran, thoughts spun through her mind, battle theories and potential strategies and watch team two could be up to... she thought idly that it would be useful to have a familiar of her own, but there was no time to think about what would be, not right now.
A leader, however, she was not. Not really - she was too young still, too inexperienced, and while she was intelligent she was quite sure that she would best serve in observing others' plans, at least for now. A muscular, but not overly large lioness, she had no problem keeping up with the others and was fairly confident that she would be able to hold her own.

'Kero had only been admitted into the pride mere days before this war game exercise was announced. In one way, she didn't care. It didn't matter, not in the long run. It was a job to do, and she'd do it. That's all there was to it.
But now that she was here, she was discovering to her surprise that she did indeed feel more about it than she had expected. In fact, she was practically excited. It was the most stirred up she'd felt since long before she'd left her old pride. She glanced left and right at the other Firekin, seeing how riled up they were, how fired for mock battle. It seemed alien to her, but strangely enticing. Surely battlelust was a safe thing to feel? The most it could do was get her killed, and that likely wasn't such a bad thing.
Despite these rolling thoughts though, when the group set out, she did not surge forward with most of them. She dropped back a little, let some of them rush past her in pursuit of their leader. Thus she was nearby enough to hear Sjari's comment about flanking. She slowed further and cast a look at him, then at the others rushing onward. She fell into step beside the male. "What did you have in mind?" she asked bluntly. Her conversational skills had fled completely when she'd hardened her heart, leaving her only with a business face to present to others. Luckily, this was the perfect situation for such communication.

Soleil hunched down, then hurried across the sand. She had to get to cover, and she had to get there before the 'enemies' spied her. She kept her eyes trained two ways - First on the goal of the rock pile, and then on Hraga, who was also heading to the rock pile. It was only when she reached 'safety' that she realized how fast her heart was racing. This was exciting! She looked around, soon spying Keahi and moving over to him. "Isn't this exciting?!" They hadn't entered actual combat yet, but she was sure this would be exactly like it. Other than the deaths not being real, that was.
He spared no more words, though he did spare a glance at Ea before scowling. No cheating... Like the Nergui weren't going to cheat... If he wanted to win, he'd have to play dirty. He just had to remember not to actually INJURE anybody in this. He was soon hiding behind a rock pile, glancing around, only to come suddenly nose-to-nose with his sister. The male let out a small startled sound, then glared at Ten for not warning him. "Exciting... Indeed... Ten, are you sleeping...?"
The snake did the closest thing he could to a shrug. "You told me to watch out for enemies, not sisters." His tongue flicked out, tickling Keahi in the ear. "Besides, what are sisters for but startling their brothers?"
He gave the snake a flat look, then turned back to his sister. "First one to 'kill' an enemy gets the loser's share of dinner tonight." It was a simple enough bet, he figured. It'd make things... Interesting.
"And the first one out has to clean the old bones out of the other's den."
"Deal."

When Teketeza thought about war, in all its brutal glory, this was not the kind of think that the firey grey male envisioned. Frowning deeply as he looked around him, he wondered how the group of Firekin who had left the Lands were getting on. Maybe they were enjoying the thrill of real battle, whilst he was stuck here just 'pretending'. It was frustrating to say the least, but if the Regents saw it as a useful exercise, he would put all his strength and focus into it regardless. This was his time to shine.
When Hraga moved forward, so did he. With the various brightly-coloured coats on display, he was quite sure that a surprise attack was not going to be an option, so he figured that attacking them head on would be best. Of course, that was pretty much exactly what Hraga had suggested, but Teketeza was too busy plotting his own moves to truely care about what was being said around him. That didn't mean that he wasn't paying attention though, as he was mindful not to pass Hraga, as he didn't want to seem insolent or disrespectful.
Having recently earned the rank of Guard, Ukuba had managed to keep himself quite busy recently, both mentally and physically. The conundrum that was Miah still vexed him, as did all the uncertainty and mystery that surrounded the Nergui themselves. For now, this was the kind of thing he had to push to the back of his mind. The Hongshan were all warriors at heart, and although he had always possessed more brains than brawn, he was not without strength. He was gifted with great speed and agility, which meant that he was well suited for the role of Guard.
As the leader of the group, Hraga, started heading towards the first rock pile. Ukuba carefully surveyed the land. Ever the calculator, he considered various scenarios, before finally deciding on what he thought would be a good course of action for a few of the group to take. Turning to the Firekin closest to him, he motioned towards the right. "Perhaps it would be a good idea for a few of us to head in that direction, in the hopes of cutting off any possible escape route."

Hewa wanted to tell Nisi to get the hell back over here with her, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth the possible scene. She'd just have to have a little talk with the kid later, when this was over, about who and who not she should be keeping company with when she could help it. For now, she simply flattened her dark ears in fleeting annoyance before-
Someone jumped out and was quickly taken down. Clearly, she should have been paying more attention to what was going on around her instead of being preoccupied with her niece. With a low growl directed at no one but herself, Hewa moved with the main group.
Nisi pointedly ignored the the look Hewa shot her way; while she appreciated some elements of having her aunt to 'look out for her,' there were others she was considerably less fond of, not the least of which was being treated like a child. Sooner or later, she was going to have to find a way to prove that she was anything but.
Shaking her head, she split off with the flanking group.

Before Soleil could react to Hraga's plan, one of the 'enemy' lions appeared! She started to move, when she saw Mkazo make a move. She let out a cheer, encouraged by his 'victory' over the 'enemy'. She then nudge Keahilani, before hurrying off to the right. "Come on, some of us should go this way! If we can surround them, we can pen them in! It could be an easy victory!" Of course, part of her DID doubt that, but she kept that part dutifully quiet. One never knew, after all, if a plan would work until they tried it.
Behind Soleil, Keahilani let out a chuffing sound, impressed by this overly fluffy lion. He looked a bit like Moto'spaki, actually... Were they possibly related? He'd have to find out another day, but not today. As he moved, he started checking behind rocks and anywhere he could. He was very determined to be the first between him and his sister to 'kill' an 'enemy'. He was NOT going to be the one to clean her den, and he wasn't giving up his dinner to her!

'Kero gave a nod to Ukuba in agreement, then a more formal nod to their leader. Thus under orders, she crept around to the side, keeping the others within sight but swinging very wide of the pile of rocks the main section of attackers were passing. She was out of sight of things when the enemy appeared, and thus missed the sound trouncing that occurred. Not that she'd have cheered or felt triumphant. Accomplished perhaps, but not celebratory. For one, the battle was far from over, and for two, she just didn't celebrate. It would be a long while before she would.
She didn't stay next to anyone in particular, but spaced herself out, hoping that they'd be able to cover more ground and not allow an enemy to slip by them if they weren't all bunched up. Her dark form slipped across the sandy ground like a shadow, red eyes narrowed to cut out the sun's glare. This might just be a training exercise, but if she wanted to improve her fighting skills to ensure her place here, she needed all the practice she could get. The opportunity for self-betterment was too good to waste on treating it like a silly game.
