"Zelda, rattata!" Ed barked, before meeting the intruder's charge head on. He swung his nightstick with crushing force at the boy's left side. If he could take down an Arcanine, he could take down this weedy brat!
Meanwhile, Zelda boiled through the door, intent on the rat. He'd make a nice midnight snack!

Walpurgis clenched his teeth at the pain. It hurt, but he'd been through worse. The mission was priority. With renewed vigor, he pushed back at the officer. "Gangrel, escape! I'll catch up later! Go!"Gangrel nodded as illusionary copies sprouted forward, each boarding a phantasmal star. As one, they all sped out of the office.

Ed rocked back from the shove, but didn't let that slow him down. "Zelda, pursue!" The growlithe darted after the rattata, nails scoring into the linoleum. At the door, she paused for a moment, nose to the floor, before bolting after one of the copies.
Snatching Zaire's pokeball from his belt, Ed releases the illusion pokemon. "Zaire, sic 'em!" Zaire became a black and blue ball of snarling fur that leaped for the Rocket grunt's arm, white teeth bared in a ferocious snarl.

Walpurgis did nothing to prevent the zorua from digging it's teeth into his flesh. He held no grudge to the pokemon forced to do the bidding of the police, even if their owner was a gigantic toolbox. With a rallying cry, Walpurgis suddenly backed up out of the grapple, leaping behind the officer. ----------------------------------- Gangrel peered over his shoulder. [He'd better make good on that promise...] The growlithe was hot on his trail, the copies dissipating on his command. He looked forward once more, maneuvering the star around a lamppost.

Zaire released the arm and dropped to the ground as the sudden movement jerked her around rather painfully. That hadn't had as much effect as she had hoped. Fluffing with determination, she snapped at the meaty part of the calf nearest her.
Ed whirled to face the threat behind him, thumb flicking his flashlight on. He aimed the powerful beam directly at the thief's face, and swung his nightstick in a cross-body swipe at the male's right hip.
~~~
Zelda, hot on the Rattata's tail, wasn't paying much attention to her surroundings. Her first awareness of the lamppost was when Gangrel swerved to avoid it. Zelda tried to do the same, but a paw slipped on loose gravel, and she ended up clipping it with a shoulder. It took her a moment to get her paws back in order, by which time, the Rattata had pulled ahead by quite a bit. Determined, she resumed the chase.
Walpurgis glared through the light - growing up in Route 111 gave him a higher tolerance for light than most - and swerved to avoid the pokemon and nightstick double-team. A movement in the shadows past the doorway caught his eye, and he dropped to his knees, arms behind his head. "I surrender. Put your weapons down, man. I may be a member of Team Rocket, but even I know attacking a captive goes against what you guys are allowed to do." Walpurgis' eye drifted to the door where the shadow had bolted past. Do your thing, Satori.
----------------------------
Gangrel smiled to himself as he heard the thud of flesh and bone on metal. Still, he wasn't clear yet.
A purring voice came from the shadows. {Let me play with her... You go ahead, my love.}
Gangrel slowed to a stop to regard the liepard that stood now in front of him. [I kind of wish I could beat her up myself, but I have to deliver this item. Give her a good one for me, Satori.]
The liepard smiled a fanged grin in response.
"Zaire, guard!" Ed snapped. Zaire immediatly stopped trying to snap and bite, and instead stood stiff-legged with a low growl rumbling in her (admittedly rather small) chest.
Ed holstered his flashlight and nightstick, pulling out his cuffs. Grabbing a wrist, he snapped a silver bracelet on, expertly bringing that wrist down to the small of the thief's back before reaching for the other hand. "You have the right to remain silent..." Ed began rattling off the rote arrest phrases telling the arrestee of his rights.
~~~
Zelda tried to dart around the large cat to continue pursuing the rat.

Walpurgis sat calmly as he listened to the officer list off his rights and what-not. Still, he couldn't help but rile him up. "You really do love the sound of your own voice, don't you, old man? We sure that narcissism isn't a crime, too?" Walpurgis grinned playfully at the cop. He couldn't do a damn thing to Walpurgis, and the young rocket was dead set on making him angry at that fact. ----------------- Gangrel zoomed off again as Satori appeared in front of the growlithe. {Come now, puppy. Won't you please show me a good time? I get so lonely sometimes, and I do love a good howl of pain...}The winds picked up through the night...

"Nope. If it were, I'd have to arrest my boss, the red-headed file clerk, and the barista down the street, just to start with. And the barista's red-eye is way too tasty for that," Ed said, placid as ever as he hauled the thief to his feet.
Zaire toned down her growls a bit after the cuffs were on, but remained alert.

Walpurgis got to his feet, feeling no need to be dragged along. "'Arrest your boss'? Huh, I would've thought you guys were above the law given your transgressions. Then again, I suppose the best way to move up in the world is to cut down the ones above you. And I thought we were supposed to be the devious ones, here."

"Nah, I just wait for my bosses to retire. Less effort," Ed said lazily. He directed the thief down the hall, towards the holding cells. As he did, he made a mental note to chew out the night shift. Had no one noticed that a fairly noisy fight had taken place, or seen the Rattata or Zelda streaking out of the building like their tails were on fire?
Zaire heeled next to Ed, growls having subsided, but fur still puffed threateningly.

Walpurgis scoffed as he continued. "A lazy cop, who would have guessed? Tell me, is it true that you guys are mostly just junior high school drop outs who wanted to bully someone even after becoming an adult?"

"Nah, I was one of them brats that liked to throw off the bell curve. Can't you see me with pimples and a pocket protector?" Ed asked facetiously. It was certainly fun to wind this guy up!
"Didn't get lazy until they gave me a pup with more energy than a power plant. Couldn't keep up with that ball of energy even straight out of the academy, so ah just stopped trying. Kept my blood pressure nice and healthy," Ed grinned.

Walpurgis' eyes narrowed. "Cops like you are why the system is so messed up. So content to just sit on your asses until trouble comes to you. So content to wallow in your hypocrisies like it was your own filth. Team Rocket is proactive. They make change. And unlike you, they don't make up excuses. Team Rocket is a lot of things, but at least they are honest."

"Yeah, Team Rocket is a model organization. That's why the hospital in Motterossa was overflowing with injured kids last time there was a Rocket gathering. Because kidnapping children, blasting them with enough tear gas that several almost died when they escaped, and then firing rockets at them, is real honest," Ed sneered. "Real stand-up crowd."
