"King?" Fai asked a bit curiously. "A mere scareling as king? But--" And when another said he wasn't, Fai found himself agreeing that it was so. If the pup like boil was king, others would show him much more respect. And then there was suddenly the Conquest heir.

"Sir Invictus," Fai said as he turned to the heir. "It is a pleasure to see you," he said, bowing his head slightly. "We are... learning many interesting things today," he added, glancing at Mahir with a slight smile. He rather liked the reactions that Mahir got. They were fascinating. And he did so hope that the sage had been collecting study samples.

Precious, on the other hand, looked mournfully at the famine sage that had leaned next to it before moving. It had almost been able to bite him! Again!

Fai's eye caught on a thick metal cord and he reached down, hauling it out of the "trash" and examining it. "How are these things so wastefully tossed aside?" he asked the students. "Do you realize what could be done with them?"

A look of delight crossed Thackery's face as he recognized yet another horseman approaching. Look how many! And they all looked so healthy and well! Maybe a little food for them would be nice, he noted, wondering what sorts of cakes they might favor. They sure did look hungry.

But when the horseman bowed to him, the scales were tipped far into excitement. He clapped his hands together and beamed.

"What a pleasure!" And, leaning closer, "You're my favorite."

He opted to ignore the reaper's comments for now, hoping that he might be able to continue his game with the ones who believed him. That was far more fun than sending them in the direction of a headmistress who hadn't been seen in months. It seemed harmless enough, as long as it wasn't impeding their goal of finding useful things.

Of course, it didn't occur to him that factual information was of any use.

"I am certainly of age, thank you," he interjected with a frown. It was almost imperceptible, but he seemed to be standing just a little taller.

"No?" Sal hummed, focusing on Shun, his mind wandering to what, if anything, was under that eyepatch than even bothering with the make-believe king. Well, that made more sense at least. It came to his attention that Thackery, the pretend-King, was doting on him, Sal gave an amused chuckle that was nothing above the tone a humoring parent would use. "You are simply adorable, young one! Playing pretend, how sweet; though it is a little cruel to play it with us right away." The Sage shook his head, the trinkets in his hair clinking in a decidedly disappointed way. Bad child, fooling a bunch of harmless strangers!

An amused glance found it's way to Invictus as he arrived, watching with a minute sense of joy over the Protector coming to their aid. A rather large pebble was dropped into the mostly-empty garbage bin, and promptly forgotten. Rocks were still important, and this one might make a good pestle one day! "Sir." He greeted with another small bow; he begged to differ on the lack of information comment, however he did have to agree that even with Famine's methods it would take far too long to get all the answers. Even then, though...

"Thank you, sweetling." The offer might not have been extended to him, but an offer to hold things certainly didn't go unnoticed. Willow would find a mostly-used garbage bin held out to her from a rather tall, pale horseman with unusual blood smears on his person. "If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate the help~" After all, he'd just lugged several stone slabs around, and picking was easier with free hands.

"We have accepted our role as it is now." Invictus answered, "There is no place for us to worry about our royalty when we must attend to making sure the Clans recover." Then again, he was often seen quite contently in the company of the other three protectors, so perhaps the fact that this new position would allow for a long term proximity to the other three was a part of the feelings he held onto at that moment.

"However, it would do us no boon to not work while we are capable as well." he noted calmly, feeling no sense of ill towards the Cerberus and his assumed position, instead he walked calmly, looking about to see what else he could bring it upon himself to pick up for their little venture back home. Funny to call such a community 'home', Invictus felt. It wasn't completely off, and yet it wasn't quite as he would call 'home' either. Home.

Ah, he would find it to be that way in time. The Protector seemed to procure something rather interesting as he turned the sheet over in his hands, brows slightly raised. "Curious that one would throw something so sturdy away." he commented, though it seemed to be an umbrella statement rather than a quip at somebody's expense.

He rapped on the glass he held a few times, before looking to the others who were assembled, sending the piece into a small orbit along with the cording he'd picked up previously. Center of the universe moment.

"However, we cannot say that in our previous life there wasn't a time when we would not have done the same things."

"Research?"

What sort of research did Mahir have in mind exactly? Depending on what it was, Shun may be able to help out.But he wasn't going to commit to anything without knowing what he was going to get himself into. Between him and the one of the other Famine members, he just sort of watched as they decided that now was a good time to be playing music.

... Interesting.

He hadn't spent all that much time on Famine's island so he wasn't too familiar with their culture. This was... intriguing to say in the very least. While he dabbled into music himself, he didn't have any plans to jump in on this impromptu band. Grimacing a bit, he shook his head to himself before making a few strides towards Invictus, taking care to not trip over any bits of garbage along the way.

"All I have to say, is I apologize for my previous suspicions," he said to him quietly.

The former Heir seemed, quiet at ease with the other clansmen and students. For a moment it surprised her. She wasn't used to thinking of someone so powerful so casually mingling and yet here he was lifting supplies into a small well of gravity around him and chatting like it was just another day.

While this happened she moved past a few of them to grab a metal desk, they would need something to place their gathered supplies on later for sorting, that or the forges could melt the metal down into something new. Just as she started to tug it back though, the two Famine clansmen started to play out a small rhythm. It vaugely reminded her of listening to the forges in the morning with her sisters and for a moment brought her back to a better place.

She moved over to Thackery taking one of his hands in her own before offering a smile as she removed her helmet placing it on the table she had pulled aside. "Come now little 'king'," she said, though she held no malice in her voice their was hint of teasing as she knew no such little boil could truely be a king. "Let us dance."

Willow held the bin she was given happily, waiting for things to be loaded in it. She listened to the tunes they were playing with the make shift instruments. She gave a nod to Mahir, "Depending on the research I wouldn't mind helping where I could." She didn't want more vines and flowers growing over her body.

There was a pause when Fai seemed to cheer up. She glanced to the vines. "Ah.... it was very interesting." She said with a nod, "Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the scenery for long. I wish I could've seen all four of your homes in the short time we were there."

She paused, "It was vastly different from what I was use to. At least with all the sand." She smiled, "I may still be trying to shake all that from my fur even with the short time I was there."

She glanced over his flowers, "Does it take long to get use to them?" She asked, "The flowers I mean." She was assuming they were there for a long run, so despite being slightly itchy at times she'd have to accept they were growing on her.
