Lael was startled by a growl, but it didn't seem to come from the woman. Ajusting her gaze as subtly as possible, Lael looked the woman up and down again as she spoke.
"Mightest thou spare me the knowledge of the year?"
Lael resisted the urge to frown at the old fashioned speech. In reality it wasn't so bad. It suited the young woman in an odd way. It was just a little difficult to understand what with the way people communicated today.

Then she spotted the dragon, right as the woman shook her shoulder.
"Pay her no heed," The woman said, "She has n'er taken well to strangers."
But Lael hardly heard the words. The little creature was beautiful, a healthy, shining example of what dragons should be like - only this one was on a smaller scale.

"She's beautiful." Lael offered in hushed words.
Then she remembered what the woman had asked and quickly shifted her gaze again. In her outfit, and with her way of speaking... but what would a woman like this be doing here, so close to Templum? Practically in Templum. Was she another peacekeeper? Someone Lael hadn't met yet? She shook her head of the thoughts.
"Sorry." She apologised as she snapped back into focus. She dug a newspaper from her bag and held it out to the woman.
"It's yesterdays. The date's in the top right. You can keep it, it has all the latest mortal news in it. Nothing in there about... eveything else, though."
Her eyes flicked back to the little dragon on the womans shoulder. It was a little un-nerving, but so stunning that Lael couldn't help but stare, just a little. It had been so long since she had seen one of these creatures.

Dontee felt a bump, to which he blinks and looks to the women to find her blaming him. He shrugs his shoulder, knowing that certain people just had to blame someone else... never their fault, even when it is, and would be upset if told otherwise. He stands to see, though she seemed upset she lost the first one, a second stick came out to be replaced in her lips and lit. He nods. "... Well, then I am sorry... I guess I'm a little clumsy because someone almost hit me a few seconds ago." He says with a small smile, sort of as if he had made up the excuse, even though it had happened.

He notices the smoke from the stick, to which he stepped back a step and chuckles slightly.
"I don't have any, uh... sticks for you... but I guess I could pay for the one you dropped, if it matters so much to you." He says, getting out his wallet.

Shadowing Death

Well, aren't you chivalrous? she thought to herself and arched a brow. "You must be," she answered, referring to his clumsy remark, but spared him a smile, "though this time I'm deciding to forgive you as I'm considerably shorter than you and you probably weren't looking at me. I don't need your money, really," she denied his offer to pay her. "What I would accept, however, is if you were so kind to walk me somewhere. See, I'm headed through a pretty rough neighborhood and I could use the help." Lie. Was she so bored that she would make this stranger escort her? Yes. She took another drag off her cigarette and placed a fist on her hip. "That is, if you aren't too busy for it."

Eve trotted down a brick road which lead out of the town to the beaches, she nibbled a piece of bread from the loaf she had as she went on her way. She liked the ocean it could be calm one moment then lash out in anger is reminded her of people two things she found that shouldn't have anything in common. Today's venture was to practice flying, and transforming in general since it can be a very painful process if done incorrectly.

After awhile she reached the beach she, sat down on the sand and just watched the waves role "pretty" she said and continuing to nibble on her bread. With her other hand she began to arrange seashells in random orders, she put some in lines of size, others in groups of colors, and some she just threw into the water to watch it splash.

Karinda smiled at the girl's compliment as Saiirin squared her shoulders and fell quiet. The dragon shook her body so the few beams of sunlight shining through the trees glinted off her silver scales, her golden eyes still honed almost murderously on the strange girl.

She has an odd way of speaking...she thought, hesitating as the girl offered her a thick wad of odd parchment. Or, perhaps, 'tis I with the strange speech within this world.

Taking the wad of papers in her free hand, Karinda glanced once more to the girl before examining it. The lettering was so small and in perfect alignment, the pictures painted near the text more lifelike than she had ever seen. She blinked at its near-perfection before locating the date.

Karinda? Saiirin asked worriedly.

Her breath caught in her lungs and her world began to spin. Growing weak in the knees, she stuck her sword in the ground near a tree and sat, her right hand held over her forehead.

"Five--five-hundred years," she breathed at last, "Neigh five-hundred years have past." She ran her hand through her hair, gazing dumbfounded at the date.

(((I dunno if you want me to quote you like this or not ;p )))

The woman marvelled at the newspaper before, like she'd never seen one. As her eyes glided over the paper she went pale, eyes locked on the date. She moved away a little to sit down and despite herself, Lael could feel herself being drawn in by curiousity.

"Five... five hundred years." The strange woman whispered, "Neigh five hundred years have passed." She ran a hand through her hair, looking as defeated and shocked as Lael imagined anybody could.

Five hundred years since when? Lael wondered, edging still closer. The dragon, she knew, watched her. But her natrual curiosity was almost overwhelming.
"Are you okay?" She asked, wondering if it might be best just to leave the woman in peace.
The only problem was just how close they were to one of the hidden entrances to Templum. Lael was suddenly feeling very vunerable and wanted to get inside, fast. She didn't want to reveal the place to the strange woman, but equally she didn't want her to be attacked by any of the creatures that guarded the islands. And equally, Lael reminded herself, she didn't want to be attacked herself.

Xerxes was sitting in the ruined throne room of the once great water demon, the demon which he saw as a god. He was not really waiting for anything to happen, nor was he really doing anything. His doll was laying on his chest before it looked up and made a light screech. "Hush lilly girl~" he said patting her head. "I dont know ether, though....you never know." he said looking up at the ceiling with a wide smile "The world has a funny was of putting fate in its place." he said as the doll went silent.

Saiirin snapped her teeth threateningly at the girl as she approached.

Karinda shook her head, not fully registering the girl's words as she held the packet of paper up for for the dragon to see. The creature's eyes moved to examine it, growing wide as it took notice of the year.

By Merlin's beard! Saiirin exclaimed in shock.

"Prithee, this must be a jest," Karinda looked to the girl almost pleadingly. "Else, the last I viewed of this world lies five--" She swallowed, incapable of bringing herself to repeat the number.

A tremor vibrated through Chaim's body; his thousand-year binds had been broken. The evil he had hoped he had locked away for good was loose on the world once more.

Movement caught his eye, his hand moving to the hilt of his sword. Casting his gaze down the long line of beach, he caught sight of a girl as she rearranged seashells on the sand, a splash sounding in the ocean's water as she tossed a few back to where they belonged.

Agrona inhaled deeply, looking around at her surroundings. The island was small, and only a couple handfuls of trees obscured the sight of the body of water beyond.

She smiled wickedly, showing her sharp, shark-like teeth as wisdom of the thousand years she had been locked away flooded over her with each wave of the gentle breeze rolling off the waters.

With long, quick strides, Agrona made her way to where a cliff dropped off into the vast sea. Sparing the mid-day sun only a fleeting glance, she took a running start and swan-dived toward the liquid mingling with sharp rocks below. Before she hit the first of the deadly formations, her form became one with the condensation lurking in the air.

_______

Two stone gargoyles startled into awareness at Agrona's sudden appearance, metallic snarls echoing from their mouths. Their sounds died away as recognition dawned, their forms becoming still and lifeless once more. With a smug smile, Agrona approached the gates, a look of disgust crossing her face as she took in the shape of her once magnificent castle. One of the two large, black iron gates hung from only its top hinge, the other swinging forward with a loud squeak as the demon pushed it forward. Ivy had taken over the statues and fountains lining the path, the overgrown grass obscuring the edges of the walkway.

Forcing her gaze to the ancient wooden doors ahead of her, she rushed into the castle's disheveled entrance room.

Torches lined the walls, their flames as dim as Agrona's scowl was deep. What pieces of furniture remained intact sat covered in a coat of dust, the fine floors thick with grime. Sensing her presence, the flames began to grow in their confinements, casting shadows about the room.

As she watched, one of the shadows stretched and morphed across the wall to her right, taking on the form of a robed man.

"Agrona," the shadow purred, its masculine voice soft as the darkness solidified."You've returned, and in good time. A visitor awaits you in your throne room."

Suspicion passed her cold eyes. "Who is it?"

"I don't know, milady, though he's been here for only an hour at most."

With narrowed eyes, she turned and made her way through the many familiar halls. She paused as she passed a dirtied, cracked mirror, her obscured reflection as young and lean as it had been so many centuries past. Squaring her shoulders, she strode casually through the tall, double doors at the end of the stone hall.

Catching sight of a man in his early 20s with a doll resting on his chest, her steps came to a stop.

"And who are you?" she asked with a slight chill in her voice.

Eve sighed, looking at the shells "My oh my Evey dear, no time to stall." she spoke to herself as she rocked herself to her hands and knees. Eve watched as sand colored fur crawl up her arms as her bone structure changed. After the fur reached her chest she began to retract into her dress until she was unseen.

A minute passed and the tressym dragged herself from out of the now useless clothing; she took the clothing and put it in a near by tree. Eve nodded to herself as she looked at her clothes and set off down the beach. As she continued horror set in she had not noticed the man on the beach, if he saw her transform she would be in big trouble. Eve figured the man creature had indeed seen her so she might have to fight if he did not comply to keeping quiet.

As she approached she crept slowly on the ground, growling loudly as she went. Fright entered her eyes when she said his hand near his sword but she did not waver in her pace or growl.

The doll on Xerxes chest suddenly got up and ran around in a small circle before rushing up to Agrona's feet and simply looked up at her. At this point Xerxes sat up and began to stretch. "My my....i suppose giving your reputation, a greetings isnt really in your vocabulary" he said in a kind voice and got up, turning to her "Your....." he looked at her up and down "Agrona, the demon mistress of the sea and the owner of this great castle" he said taking a polite bow "My name is Xerxes my lady....a pleasure to meet you"

Dontee slowly puts away the wallet, nodding in acceptance of the denied offer. "... Alright then..." He mutters. As he put away his wallet, he looked to the woman at her, sort of, counter offer. He thought for a moment before nodding, smiling slightly.

He found it rather nice; though considering what had happened it all sounded quite odd, but he still found it quite nice. A women bumping into him, blaming him for the fault and basically wishing payment, so he gets out his wallet to pay, then suddenly her response was of which he needed not pay, but she needed a walking 'assistance'.

"Alright, I guess I could... I was just out for a stroll anyway. Where are you heading?" He asks, keeping the smile.

Lael halted about ten feet from the strange woman partly out of hesitation, mostly out of respect. She didn't want to stir the dragon, knowing full well just how much damage the little thing could do. She should have feared to woman, too, given her sword and the stance she had held herself with when they first met. But all she saw was a dangerous little fire breather and a hurt looking woman not much older than herself.

Lael glanced around warily before kneeling on the spot.
"Prithee, this must be a jest," The woman said, "Else, the last I veiwed of this world lies five-" Hundred years ago. Lael finished mentally, and understanding dawned on her like pianos fell on people in comedies.
"You're... not from around here, are you?" She asked, comprehension evident in her tone.

Satisfied, Salem grabbed his hand and shook it once. "Lovely! I'm Salem!" she introduced herself before looking both ways down the sidewalk. "Let's see. I'm headed..." she began chewing her bottom lip. Well, she hadn't thought this through all of the way. "I was headed... where are you headed? I think I'm actually supposed to be going in that direction," she fibbed before linking arms with him.

"What did you say your name was? Or did you?"

Dontee looks to the hand that met his own for a second before smiling and shaking a bit himself. He drew back his hand a bit as she started saying where she be heading, and then thinking about it for a moment.

He blinks when she says she believes she was heading where he was going. "... How would she know where I would be heading?..." He thought in slight confusion, during the confusion not noticing her arm linking in with his own. When she asked if he said his name he smiles and looks to her to say
"No, I had not... sorry, I had meant to when you had said your own, but... well, I didn't want to ruin your thought process or anything. My name is Dontee."

He then looks around to think for himself on where he would go now. He was thinking he'd go and report the man that almost hit him, being a sort of threat to some civilians, but he supposed he could drop by on his walk back the other way from the park. He smiles and looks to her. "Well, I was out to take a stroll, so I guess I could walk over to the park, perhaps sit around there for a bit."

Karinda chuckled humorlessly. "Nay."

Collecting herself, she took a deep breath, stood, and pulled her sword from the ground. Wiping the dirt from its tip, she quickly sheathed it before turning her attention back to the girl. Struggling to keep exasperation from her voice, she spoke.

"You hath given me the knowledge for which I sought, and yet I know not thy name. Might thou be willing to grace me with that knowledge as well?"

Chaim watched, intrigued, as the girl turned into a winged cat. Catching sight of him, the beast-girl turned upon him, crouching low as she stalked slowly forward.

"I mean you no harm," he said quickly, raising his hands in front of him defensively. He let his wings spread out behind him, his expression soft as his multicolored gaze bore into her eyes.

"Cute," Agrona grumbled darkly, sparing the doll a quick glance before turning her attention to Xerxes.

She nodded a greeting to his final words."What is it you want, then, Xerxes? What has brought you to my decrepit domain?" She gestured to the run-down throne room with frustrated enthusiasm.
