He was incredibly thankful that he did not make a fool of himself again and kiss the dirt while attempting the movement he called walking. Eyota stared at the mare with his green eyes, trying to figure out why she was trying to help her, perhaps she was just a very kind soul? Even though Eyota was not the sharpest rock in the cannon, he could still notice a sadness cloaked over the mare; he wanted to ask the mare what was wrong, but he felt it was not his place to pry, not yet.
“You want me to meet your uncle… and he can fix this problem that I am having?” Was his problem so terrible that Indilwen needed another opinion on how to fix him? Would her uncle be able to fix him? The stallion did not even allow himself to become excited at the prospect, it just seemed too good to be true.
“Sure Indilwen, let’s find your uncle.” He smiled at the mare, glad that he would be able to spend more time with her, even if it was to go see another who he needed to show his embarrassing disability to, “So how far does this uncle live?” Dread mixed with his joy, he was not sure how well he could handle a long trek.

Indilwen's ears perked up as Eyota agreed to go with her to see her Uncle. She had been afraid that perhaps she had pried to far into his issue and that he would turn her away. Yet he appeared to be quite willing to go along with whatever she thought might help. She only hoped that her Uncle Arden could actually help him. At the very least he would know who o take Eyota too. It might crush the stallion if she gave him hope only to let him down. It would very likely crush her too. She wasn't sure what it was about Eyota that she liked, or why she felt the need to help him so much. Yet she found herself wanting to do everything in her power to help him with his condition.
As Eyota spoke once more, Indilwen shifted her weight nervously. "Well... you see..." She paused, not sure how to answer the stallion. She didn't want to have to make Eyota travel too far, yet it might very well be inevitable. "The problem is that I'm not entirely sure. I know where he used to live, but it's been so long that he may no longer be there. Actually I was on my way to see him and let him know..." She cut herself up abruptly before saying anymore. She might find herself trusting Eyota but she wasn't ready to say out loud what had happened. Not yet. It was as if saying it would finally make it real and she didn't want it to be. "Anyway," She hurried on before he could question her. "It would be a place to start, and it isn't very far from here to begin with if you're still up for it." She looked at him hopefully.

Should he dare hope for a new life? One without the fear of falling on his face at every step? Was it the Ancient Spirits who set the kind and compassionate Indilwen upon his path? Was he meant to be able to walk freely? Eyota never considered himself to be a bright stallion, and he was unsure how Indilwen and her uncle would fix this problem of his. A wave of dread washed over him, what if they could not fix him? He would need to spend the rest of his life staring at the ground… what kind of life is that? The earth colored stallion pushed the negative thoughts today, he will only think on the positive, there was no use dwelling on the undesirable; he was a cheerful stallion after all.
Eyota smiled at Indilwen, she was helping him out of the kindness of her heart and he never even considered the true reason why she would be trying so hard to fix him. “It’s okay, as long as we can walk slowly,” he gave her a chagrined smile, “I would rather not be sprawled out on the ground again anytime soon.” With his forest green eyes he looked in a random direction, how did she know which way to go? It probably helped that she was able to look at her surroundings when she walked or flew. He bowed his head to his light green companion, “Lead the way.”

Indilwen looked to the sky to gather her bearings. She could see where she had come from and was able to spot the direction in which they needed to go. Hopefully her Uncle was still in residence and that he hadn't moved on. The mare didn't have a clue as to how they might find him if that was the case. Yet she had a feeling that he would still be in the area. Her Uncle had always been reliable and wasn't the type to up and move suddenly. Actually, she couldn't imagine him moving at all. He didn't much like civilization or crowds and while he tolerated visitors, he preferred solitude. No, she highly doubted that he had moved.
As the pair traveled, Indilwen would occasionally glance over to see if Eyota was still with her. She debated on talking to him, but she wasn't entirely sure what to say. They had only just met and she wasn't the talkative sort. At least not with someone that she barely knew. Instead, she walked in silence, the journey taking them just a little while longer than it would have had she been flying. However, it appeared that they were closer than she had originally thought she was. In a surprisingly short amount of time, the pair managed to reach the grove where her Uncle should be found. As they neared, she could see signs that he was still in the area.
"Well, it looks as if we're here." Indilwen smiled over to her companion as she came to a stop. "It looks as if Uncle might be out right now. If we wait here a moment he should be back relatively soon." She turned to the stallion then, hoping that he had fared the journey well enough. She still felt bad about having to drag him out here, but she was sure that Arden would be able to help him.
It wasn't long before Indilwen could hear someone approaching from the North. A few moment's later a stallion with a pouch full of herbs flung around his shoulder broke through the growth surrounding the grove. In her excitement, Indilwen temporarily forgot Eyota and ran towards the stallion. Tears suddenly filling her eyes. As usual, Arden had gone out to collect herbs that morning. He had only just returned when he found himself surprised by his niece. At first, he had been in utter shock and was barely able to recognize her. After all, hadn't it been years since he had seen her? She might have even been a foal the last time. "Well look at you!" He smiled as he glanced her over. She had definitely gotten bigger since the last time he had seen her. "Where's your father at?" He asked as he glanced around looking for his brother. "Getting too old to keep up with you eh?" The stallion teased a moment. He was about to go on when he caught the look in her eyes. Something had happened, and he could feel a dread building up inside of him.

Right hoof, left hoof, repeat. He was silently glad that Indilwen did not talk to him during their walk, he was not sure he could concentrate on the ground and forming words; he was not very skilled at multitasking. She was always a few feet ahead of him, he knew that she slowed her speed considerably, to accommodate him; she was so kind. Every now and again he would feel her eyes on him, as she would look back to make sure he was still with her. What felt like days to the poor balance inept soquili was actually a short walk that might have taken about an hour or two, the two green soquili made it to an opening of a glade that had the appearance of being lived in; the home of her uncle.
At her words Eyota stopped walking and stood stock still so he could get his bearings around the lush landscape, who was her uncle that he lived in such a place, far from any civilization or company? Moments passed, and the two remained in silence, when a stallion with antlers upon his head and who was earthy in coloration with what appeared to be green leaf markings upon his body came out of the woods. Indilwen ran toward the stallion who Eyota suspected was her uncle, there were tears in her eyes. Why was she sad?

Ordinarily Indilwen would have laughed at her Uncle's joke, but today it only caused more tears to flow from her eyes. The mare shook her head in response. She tried to bring herself to tell Arden, to deliver the message she had intended, but the words stuck in her throat. It was as if there was some invisible force keeping them there, preventing her from telling the truth. Indilwen knew that she needed to tell him, to let him know what had happened to his brother, her father. But it was as if not telling him made it not true, as silly as it was. If she told him, it would be final.
"I..." She tried to choke the words out as best as she could, pushing past the invisible barrier. "He's not here Uncle, he's not coming." The tears flowed faster and unchecked now. Her voice reaching a hysterical pitch. "He's dead." She sobbed out. "Father's dead and it's all my fault!" Indilwen almost whispered the last part as she remembered Eyota behind her. She could feel her cheeks become hot as she blushed in embarrassment. What must he think? She had brought him all this way to help him, not to involve him in her drama.
Arden looked down at his niece in utter shock and disbelief as she spoke. How could his brother be dead? It didn't seem possible. He was the same age as Arden after all and he'd had a daughter to take care of. What could have happened? It was obvious that Indilwen blamed herself for whatever had happened, but knowing the mare he doubted that she was the actual cause of his death. He yearned to ask her more about what had happened, but they had company and now was not the time. Guests shouldn't be involved in family drama. If he could just take Indi's mind off of her father for now, they could talk later. His brother was dead and nothing was going to change that. Right now, he needed to focus on the living.
"Calm down." He told his niece in a soothing tone. "Catch your breath a moment." He lowered his voice now, low enough that only his niece would be able to hear him. "I know that this has to be difficult for you, but we have company and I need you to pull yourself together. Can you handle that?" The mare returned a nod in answer. He raised his voice back up so that their companion would be able to hear him again. "Good, we can talk after you've introduced me to your guest." He directed a smile to the unfamiliar stallion. "I apologize for my niece's outburst, it seems it has been a while since she and I last caught up. I'm Arden, and who might you be?"

‘He’s dead.’ Indilwen’s words reached his ears on the wind and her tears that freely fell pulled upon his heart. How could he be so uncaring and blind? Her father was dead and here he was complaining about something as silly as not having the ability to run. Who needed to walk, run, and gallop? He had made it through life staring down at the ground; he could do it for a few more years. Indilwen and her uncle need to be alone, so they could grieve. If he stayed, he would only be getting in their way.
It appeared that the antlered stallion did not think Eyota had heard the quiet admittance from the kind green mare. Eyota’s balance was off, but his hearing was perfect; it was in this case he wished they were switched. He could pretend to be ignorant or he could admit the truth. Eyota bowed his head to the stallion, only after he was sure he would be stable on his four legs, “Nice to meet you, I’m Eyota. You’re niece has been helping me with an issue that I have… but I do not believe I will be staying much longer. I really don’t want to impose upon this time of grief. The two of you need the strength of family and that will be hard with an outsider tripping over you,” He turned to the light green mare, “I’m sorry for your loss, I-” he did not know what else to say and began to move his front legs in a nervous manner.
“Indilwen, thank you for helping me and giving me the confidence that my disability can be fixed; out of all the soquili that I have encountered you are the only one who stopped and truly tried to help me. And for that I am in your debt.” He bowed his head to the mare and gave both of them a sad smile. Trepidation filled him when the realization of his situation hit him, he just told them goodbye and he did not know where he was going. What was he going to do now?

Her Uncle's words might have sounded harsh, but she knew that he did not mean to be. And he had been correct. She had brought Eyota here to help him, not to chase him away and make him feel uncomfortable. Besides, she had shed enough tears for the moment and a distraction was exactly what she needed.
"Oh no, please stay!" Her voice cracked a little as she spoke, but she took a few deep breaths to calm herself. "I really do want to help you, and I need a distraction, I don't really want to... think about that right now. I know I should have waited to mention it, but I just.. it came out." She wasn't entirely sure how convincing she was, but it was the best that she could do.
Arden watched as his niece tried to collect herself. She was right, what had happened had happened and a distraction was likely the best thing for her. Of course she would need to address her grief at some point, but now was not the time. Now they had company and someone she had said needed his help. Arden might not be fond of company, but he wasn't uncivil. Nor would he turn the stallion away, especially since Indi appeared to care for him.
"Now then, if you would please stay." His words were a suggestion, but his voice sounded more of an order. "What is it that I can help you with?"

Eyota felt as if he was being pulled in two ways, the urge to stay was battling with the urge to leave and figure things out on his own. He gave a large sigh, he could not leave Indilwen especially since she asked him to stay, he gave her a tentative smile, “Okay I will stay since you asked.” He was not sure how he felt about being the distraction of grief and if he would be able to keep her from breaking down in tears, but he was going to try.
The clumsy stallion took in a deep breath and faced the green stallion who would supposedly help him, “I have this problem with balance. I cannot walk anywhere fast and I must always stare at the ground for a tiny rock can cause me to trip. But mostly I trip over my own hooves. I have lived my entire life with this and I get around very slowly, but I was hoping you may have an idea about what ails me?” He looked at the stallion with a hopeful expression.
