Bix was slammed again. The narrow halls of the dorms were not conducive to much strategy and these monsters really knew how to barrel through. He'd had this problem before when he and Molly tried to strategize. Unfortunately real enemies didn't quite follow 'rules of battle'.
He wasn't even able to get a shot off this time.

Bix countered his last hit by waiting until the monster barrelled past. When he saw (what he would assume was) the monster's back he unloaded a volley of arrows into it. It responded with a satisfying sizzle as the shadows melted away completely under his arrows. "I wish I could do that without missing or getting slammed into a wall." Bix smirked. "Where's your room anyway? I don't think I've gone as far down as most of you newer guys are. Though.." He scratched his head. "I'm just assuming all the dorms are exactly the same." Bix glanced over at Ofie, who did looked distressed about the boots by the way she kept looking at her feet, "So other than flip flops... what other stuff do you like?" He barely knew anything about her. HP: 44 / 50 -using recovery 1- Damage: 11 Charge: 2 / 3 1 recovery remaining Monster HP: 0 / 10 -DEFEATED- Monsters Defeated: 1 Rown If you for some reason want Ofie to get in first hit on the monster, go ahead. I am not picky about post orders with battle. biggrin

"Ah'm room 162. Ah think, s'been a while since I actually slept in there." As the monster faded away thanks to Bix and his sudden actions Ofelia sighed, tapping her foot against the ground again. She wasn't sure just what she was expecting to find in her room other than her shoes, maybe a nice shirt and some decent shorts, but nothing else. Her room held no memories, nothing amazing in it. Just a simple, plain room. How boring.
And then Bix asked her about herself. "Eh?" At first she thought she didn't understand, that maybe he made a mistake, but he had asked her what he liked. It was. . . well, sort of odd. "Stuff Ah like? Well, Ah'm inta full contact sports, like rugby an' football. Ah played soccer sometimes in elementary school but 'cause'a mah eye Ah never did well on teams. Depth perception an' all." Ofelia touched the eye patch, her finger tapping it twice. "Um, other things? Ah like astrology an' astronomy, lookin' at the stars an' all that. Oh, Ah know! If we get ta mah room Ah can pick up mah cards an' read yer fortune, if ya'd like."
Ofelia had only read one person's fortune since coming to Deus, that Aria lady, and she felt like she was a bit rusty.

If it wasn't initially obvious Bix wasn't the organized sports sort of guy. He never did well around jocks and seemed incapable of putting on any sort of bulk. Computers and games were more his thing but he wouldn't comment on Ofie's sporting habits. She was tanned and in good shape so he was sure she was probably really good at sports, despite the eye. "That sounds cool actually." Bix gave Ofie a genuine smile. "I've never had my fortune told or anything before. My mom never liked or believed in supernatural things. She didn't even let us try out a Ouija board." What would she think of him now, in his chosen lifestyle? "My room's obviously right here." There was a door cracked open with a big sign on it that said BIX. "But.. I closed this door when I was here the other day.." As soon as he pushed the door aside something small leapt at them with what looked like groping claws. Rown 11-32: A small, semi-solid creature snatches at you with painful claws and teeth. Just as suddenly as the door opened and something ran out, Ofelia had Rue in hand and smashed the creature into the ground. Her weapon made a hollow sound as the blades connected with the floor, prompting Ofelia to grunt as she pulled herself free. "Whelp, guess we know what closed yer door. See any more of 'em in there we need ta take down?" A large grin was on the teen's face as she let the weapon go back to its unsummoned form, Rue content with the amount of energy she'd been allowed to sup on this far. "Yer rooms pretty far off from mine then. Mah next door neighbor is Clerise."
Thankfully for Bix Ofelia wasn't really the type to get nosy about people's rooms, not unless the person happened to go in first and then invite her in to sit. That was why she didn't peer into the area, not that she expected to find anything amazing. Most dorm rooms, she came to assume, were empty of everything.

"Nice! Man those claws of yours are awesome. You should be like.. a sexy lady wolverine for Halloween or something." Oh wait.. did they get Halloween here? NO. They always ended up battling to death with some crazy monster. Oh well... it was a nice idea. "Rooms were kind of first come first serve I think. So all the people up this end of the hallways woke up in the batch with me." He popped his head in his room to find that it was delightfully empty. He pulled it secure now, hoping monsters weren't messing with his action figures. "Clerise? She's... cool. I battled her for pizza on the lawn once." He cautiously continued further down the hall, weapon at the ready.

"Ahhh, Ah see." Ofelia rubbed her shoulders and arms, trying to will away the ache that had come from punching into the ground as hard as she had. "Who's Wolverine?" Her aunt had never been big on much of anything so Ofelia spent much of her younger years, as well as her later teen years, running around outside and doing other things that didn't involve reading or technology. Whatever this 'Wolverine' was though apparently Rue made her into a sexy version of it? That was weird.
Your ignorance never ceases to amaze and amuse me.
"As if ya know who Wolverine is as well Rue." Another tap to the temple. At this rate Ofelia was going to have a permenant bruise there depending on how hard she eventually started hitting. "An' as fer us an' rooms, Ah tend ta sleep walk so Ah wanted somewhere Ah wouldn' end up walkin' inta someone's room. Speak'a that, a door's openin'. Wonder if - "
A door did seem to be opening, but rather than a person another one of the shadow creatures emerged. Ofelia summoned Rue back and the weapon chimed in her head that she was getting tired of this back and forth nonsense. "What? You don't know who Wolverine is? From the X-Men?" He stared at her, head bobbing as if he could jog a memory from her. Turned out comics were not as mainstream as he was led to believe. Or perhaps he was biased and just hoped people knew about them. "I will lend you some comics books. You have to read them. Don't worry, they are filled with fighting so I think you'll like them." He lit up again, always happy to share his comic love with other people. As soon as another monster appeared Bix gave a quick. "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy." And he riddled the monster with arrows, dissolving it immediately. Thankfully his Insanity had been fading over the week so he was relaxing a bit more with Ofie. Her own easy going attitude was helpful in making him comfortable. "If I see you wandering around sleep walking, what should I do? I heard you aren't supposed to wake people up when they do that?" "Hmmm? Oh no, that's total bullshit - ya can wake people up. Mah brother saved me once from walkin' down a flight'a stairs once by grabbin' mah arm, so if ya happen ta see me strollin' pass in mah panties by all means, wake me up." Ofelia winked with her good eye which probably translated as her blinking. Dammit she needed to take her eye patch off more if she was going to be winking at people. "An' nope, sorry ta say - mah aunt didn' let anythin' really weird inta the house. Ah never watched TV or had a phone b'for comin' here, s'why Ah'm kinda s**t wit' the cell phone stuff."
The dispatching of the monster had gone super quickly and Ofelia raised her hand for a high five. It was always best to share the luck, or so she felt, and they were about halfway to her room anyway. Plus high fives were fun and she and her brother did it all the time so nothing wrong there. "Yanno, one time durin' sleep walkin' Ah made it out inta the barn an' somehow up in the rafters. Ah was dreamin' the voices were callin' an' if it hadn' been fer me gettin' snagged on a pole Ah probably would'a fallen ta mah death."

Bix was happy to return the high five. He'd never leave anyone hanging! "Ooh la la! Well if that's the case, first I would follow you a while. THEN I would wake you up. But if you're fully clothes I'll just skip right to the waking." He teased her with a grin. He continued down the hall, a glowing arrow notched into the bow and ready just in case. "Weird? Comics aren't weird." Bix pouted a bit at the insinuation. "And non-technological too. So as soon as we are able I am going to force you to read some. Maybe you can sleep-read them. That sleep walking sounds pretty dangerous." After a few silent steps he turned back to her. "I didn't know you have a brother.. I had a brother too." Past tense. Bix pushed another door open, it was already cracked so he wasn't invading. He looked around the corner but it was just empty.

"Hey now, dun let Molly hear ya sayin' that 'bout 'nother girl in their undies, even if it's someone like me. Ah can only defend ya so far." Ofelia cackled, patting Bix on the shoulder. When he mentioned his brother, she chimed in to fix her statement. "Mmm, Ah guess Ah should say Ah had a brother as well, seein' as we're legally dead an' all. Can' exactly count people from our past as alive, yeah? But Ah did havea brother, couple'a years older than me. When mah folks sent me away after settin' a closet on fire, he went wit'. He's also kinda the reason Ah lost mah eye. Well, him an' a pitchfork." Ofelia didn't realize how badly she missed her brother. Talking about him time and again eased the pain but it wasn't until she used the past tense on him that she really felt his loss. She wondered if he'd mourned for her or moved on? It wasn't something she wanted to think about, at least not right now.
The pair continued down the hall, getting close to Ofelia's room, when a door suddenly opened and a body slumped out of it. The teen jumped back, her weapon fully summoned, and a look of unhappiness spread over her features as she knew what was to come next. "Man, Ah was hopin' ta get ta mah room wit'out this. Ya ready fer what's behind the door?" Ofelia hoped he was because it was coming out.
The monster was shaped like a woman, a rather comely woman at that, but she was no different from the one she'd encountered in the training grounds - shimmery and pale and probably not able to be hit very hard. "Ah'll take the first round, if ya dun mind!"Quote: 2-10: You find the body of a fallen hunter, their weapon tablet lies on the ground but crumbles as you reach for it. The pieces quickly shift and expand into a large, insane creature. It's form is not very solid, and more cloud-like than anything. HP: 50 Auto Damage: 5 (hit or miss) Extra: because of it's form, use a -8 modifier for accuracy! This does not count with charged attacks!

Hitting this thing was going to be hard, Ofelia remembered that much, but since she was on her way to getting her flip flops she sure as hell wasn't going to be detered from getting there thanks to some hunter dying and having their weapon tablet go all smokey on them.
Rue was quickly shoved against the monster, barely scraping into it, but Ofelia knew it was enough. The knuckleduster was starting to sing again, was it in French? Either way she was ready and Ofelia jumped back, smacking into the wall for her troubles.

Mina was moaning in his head and that this was someone's room had momentarily escaped him. "Watch out Ofie!" He was knocked back by the monster but kept his kneeling pose to fire a brilliant arrow up into the air. It exploded into white light and suddenly the room was full of a red rain of arrows. The monster's semi-solid state was irrelevant when arrows were everywhere. They embedded in the floor, the furniture, the walls, but soon disappeared leaving nothing but faint grey scorch markings in their wake. HP: 37 / 50 Damage: 14 Charge: 0 / 3 -Using Swift Strikes Y3- 1 recovery remaining Monster HP: 33 / 50 Monsters Defeated: 3

Ofelia had obviously forgotten it was someone's room as well as she dashed in, runes blazing and Rue cackling in her skull. . . .only to trip over the damn body at the entrance. She smacked into the ground face first, landing hard and bringing a large red welt to her skull. This was no bueno, it pissed her off majorly, and Rue was in her head screaming at her inability to do anything right as of late.
"Owwww." Almost as if to add insult to injury the monster smacked her across the shoulders, having moved to get to her.

"You okay?" Bix rushed in, standing between Ofie and the shade. It was too close now for him to fire so instead he stabbed it with the sharp end of his bow. It wasn't much damage but it was hard to miss when it was in your face. He moved to help her up and in the process received a slash across the back.
