There were two ways to assess the simplistic question the girl had given him in response. Which took a moment of silence on his own part as the girl seemed to invade his personal space (only slightly since they were already arm-in-arm).



Howl did rather enjoy flora, and it was not something he was too proud to confess to. Of course, he had been lacking in places to admire such things due to his schedule thanks to Hillworth. In the first scenario, the answer was "yes."

In the second scenario, he had just confessed to the girl that he indeed did like her hair. It was a unique manner of dressing of her hair. It seemed odd, but it was pleasant enough and didn't distract all of the attention too drastically to her head. So thus, in the second scenario, the answer was also "yes."

He would have to debate another time as to which question it was that she had meant, but for now it would cause no harm to reply with the same smile, a nod, and the words "Yes, I do."

He slowed in his steps for a moment or two as they passed one of the more popular plants to pop up these days. His free hand gestured to the side of them where a brightly colored crane flower was peeking out from its bush of long thick waxy leaves.

"I know these are not roses, but the Bird of Paradise have really grown in nicely this year. Strelitzia are quite unique." Though he could see the appeal, since they had such an exotic appearance and were brightly colored, the lad was not nearly as impressed with such flowers as he was with orchids and lilies.

The teal-haired lad keenly watched the girl, who seemed to allow her expression sour minorly, but then her expression quite quickly took on a sort of childish delight in seeing the tropical plants. The gesture she took with the leaf of the plant might have seemed odd to some, but to him, it only revealed a particular fondness for the living plant that the girl was attending to.

"It is warm enough here to grow those flowers. The gardening staff imported the flowers here, since they have gained quite a bit of popularity over the recent years."

Making certain to mind his manners, he let the girl know "Let me know once you are ready to move forward, and then we will go." One did not force a person away from flora if they truly were appreciating their natural beauty.

Theodora had taken her time looking over the plants, but when she perked up and signaled she was ready to go, the lad resumed upon the trek to the rose gardens. Once more he offered the crook of his arm, and soon enough the two were off again.

Not wanting to let the silence linger too long, the lad once more attempted conversation with the girl. "What sort of garden do you have back home, Miss Theodora? Which flowers did you grow?"

If anything had been quite apparent, it was the fact that this girl enjoyed flowers and more than likely was guilty of growing her own in her native land.

As the girl named off varying plants, the lad seemed to listen intently, keeping an eye upon their path, but also making certain he was paying attention to his companion as well. Each flower mentioned, whether he understood the language being used or not, received a nod of his head. In all honesty, the only names he didn't recognize were the Greek words.

The names continued to pile up, and easily he got the idea that she had plenty of flowers in her life prior to her new life in America. He smiled as she seemed to (very gradually) come to a close with her list. "That is quite impressive, Miss Theodora. I am quite envious."

In all of her efforts to name off the various flowers, they had managed to make quite a bit of progress on their journey. In fact, hints of the rose bushes were peeking into view, in many different colors. "Ah... here we are... just a bit further." Based off of how impulsive she seemed, he was expecting her to abandon the crook of his arm quite quickly.

"Goodness!"

He had not expected this reaction, but this girl's actions were not easy to predict. She tugged on his arm like an eager child, but since she was not a child, she had far more leverage in actually getting what she wanted.

Rather than resist, the teal-haired lad moved along with the girl, attempting to match her speed while still maintaining some sort of dignity. Such resulted in a very minor lag on his part, but the pair were easily approaching the roses quite quickly. The ones that were closest to them were pink hued buds, only a couple of the roses actually peeking open enough to be admired. However, as Theodora probably had figured out, there were many roses to gaze upon.

Now that they were closer, the boy briefly mentioned "I believe my escorting services are now fulfilled, Miss Theodora." With that, he attempted to loose his arm of hers without making it too awkward.

The "eager child" that was Theodora seemed unwilling to let him loose, So with a couple polite chuckles, he allow himself to get dragged along with the far more energetic girl. If he this girl was a puppy, he'd look like the unruly dog owner who allow their pet to do as it wished.

Though all of the girl's mannerisms seemed to scream of excitement, Howl continued to maintain his dignity. He didn't raise his tone, his smile still remained soft and pleasant (rather than exaggerated and goofy), and his gestures still remained subdued. The lad merely nodded his head towards the girl before adding "I am looking, Miss Theodora."

The roses truly did look as though they were doing well. All petals were soft and white, without a hint of drying out towards the edges. If any roses looked like they had seen better days, it looked as though the buds were trimmed right off. It was a compliment to the gardening staff more than anything.

This time, rather than struggle against her, he seemed to wait to see what her antics would bring. If she wanted to separate, she'd separate eventually, and that would probably be when he'd excuse himself.

The girl seemed content holding onto his arm until she had finished up her own personalized tour of the roses. Then the moment she was done, she simply abandoned his arm.

Her explanation was simple, as was to be expected, but Howl nonetheless smiled and wished her "Goodbye, Miss Theodora." It wasn't too often that the lad was in the presence of a pretty young lady who did not receive his classic greeting and departure kiss upon the hand, but the girl slipped away, scrambling to get her shoes on.

As she scurried off, he idly wondered aloud "I wonder if I will ever meet you again..." Shrugging it off, the lad moved to start looking over the flower gardens again, this time no longer serving as an escort. It was hard to appreciate them fully when you were essentially attached to another who was much more boisterous about their appreciation of Flora.
