Yuri paused in the cleaning of Luke's blade to look up at the pair. Even he could tell that Luke wasn't ready to talk about this, so why was Guy pressuring him? He remained silent and continued with what he was doing. It wasn't any of his business anyway.

The flinch did not go unnoticed, and at Luke's request, Guy released his hand from the teen's shoulder. Luke really wasn't going to tell him anything. He wasn't going to let Guy help him - again. Even after Guy had told him months before that he was still on his side. It was infuriating. Guy was really beginning to get sick of not being told goddamn anything. His eyes grew steely as he took a step away from Luke, his voice tight and low. "...Fine." If Luke didn't want to tell him, then Guy supposed he didn't have to. He offered to help, after all, but it was all for naught if Luke couldn't even accept that.

Remembering that this was, in fact, Yuri's apartment, Guy turned around and faced the man sitting in the windowsill. His expression remained cold, but he made a valiant attempt to sound civil towards Yuri. "Well, you're the one who invited me here. What did you want?"

Guy's anger, evident in expression, posture, and tone, was every bit as hurtful as the fact that Luke couldn't summon the will to tell the truth. All he wanted was to turn back time and erase everything that had happened. But of course that was too much; there was no miracle that could grant that wish.

Dejectedly, almost lethargically, Luke moved a short ways across the room, seating himself on the floor at the far end of the couch with his back leaned against the side of it, by and large hiding himself. He didn't want to be alone, but what else could he do? He couldn't stand it, any of it, and there was no miracle that could help him now.

Ouch.

"Definitely not a soap opera," Yuri quipped as Guy now turned to him practically demanding what he wanted. "Can't a guy have a friend over every now and then?"

With Luke now turned the other direction, Yuri glanced his way then subtly tilted the sword so the blonde could clearly see the little bit of dried blood that still remained on the blade.

Guy feigned a half-smile as Yuri replied, feeling rather foolish that he snapped at his friend. He was right - it wasn't like he needed a reason to invite a friend to his place. It was rather gracious of Yuri to do so, actually; he must've known that Guy would be looking for Luke. Sneaky b*****d. "I suppose you're right," he said, trying [and failing] at sounding any sort of cheerful or pleasant.

Guy sighed silently, glancing over to where Luke had hidden himself. Despite himself, he glared in that direction before he looked back over to Yuri, who was holding, and apparently cleaning, Luke's sword. This first detail struck Guy as odd right away, but his confusion deepened as Yuri nonchalantly tilted the blade towards Guy. The blond could clearly see the remnants of a dried red substance - one he could distinctly recognize as blood. He stared at the sword for a moment or two, stunned, before looking up at Yuri with quiet realization dawning in his eyes. Guy quickly peered over to where Luke had hidden himself before turning back to Yuri, speaking in a hushed tone, hoping Luke would not overhear him. "Yuri... Do you know what happened?"

Yuri could see the understand in Guy's eyes, and was glad for it. It would only upset Luke further if they started openly talking about it in his presence.

"Yeah," Yuri muttered to Guy, who likely had come to the same conclusion and lowered his own voice.

"I was there."

Guy bit his lip in hesitant silence. He tried to understand. Blood on Luke's sword only meant that he had hurt something. The fact that Luke himself was cleaning his own sword meant that it was something - or someone - he did not intend to hurt. Considering how shaken and out of touch Luke was, traumatized even, Guy could only assume the worst. Now he really regretted pushing Luke like that. Arceus only knew how hurt that boy was now.

Guy winced before looking back to Yuri. "...How bad?" he whispered, almost mouthed, as quietly as he could. A part of him didn't want to know what his oldest friend had done, but Guy knew that knowing would be the only way to help him in the long run.

Yuri's reply was a simple one. A single slashing motion with his hand across his throat, and a serious look in his dark eyes.

That one motion was all that was needed. Guy's eyes widened as shock and horror overcame him. For half of a moment, his stare went blank, and all that came out of his mouth was a silent "Oh, s**t." He couldn't believe it. He could hardly even imagine Luke doing such a thing. It was unthinkable. Not even he himself had done something so bad, and Guy was the one who had intended to do so in the first place! Of course, his decision was obviously revised, but...

Regaining his voice, despite its obvious shakiness, Guy called out to Luke without turning around to face in his friend's direction. He didn't want to face Luke - not right now. "Hey, Luke...? Can you go into the other room for a minute? Yuri and I need to talk about something."

A few moments passed in unresponsive silence before Luke pushed to his feet, a hand lingering at his forehead as if to assuage tiredness or headache, and wordlessly did as Guy requested of him. If there was one positive thing about his state of mind, it was that it made him extremely compliant to commands.

Yuri said nothing as it was recommended that Luke relocate himself. The man watching as the red head went into his bathroom and shut the door. He then turned his attention back to Guy and explained to him everything that happened. The attempted mugging that had taken place some time before, Emil's kidnapping in revenge, Luke passing out and Yuri taking him to the ER. Then the fight and its outcome, including the fact that Luke had run the gang's leader through, and Yuri had finished him off. Concluding with the fact that Yuri had allowed Luke to stay here to clear his mind, but the boy's mental state hadn't improved at all within the past few days.

By the time Yuri had concluded his explanation of the past events leading up to this moment, Guy almost felt sick to his stomach. How could he not have known about any of this?! Why wasn't he there with Luke during all of this to protect him? And why did he have to push Luke so hard into explaining something so... awful? Guy flopped down on the couch, hiding his face in his hands. "...What the hell kind of a friend am I," he quietly asked himself aloud, voicing his thoughts.

He had to pull himself back together - this wasn't about him, this was about Luke. Guy looked up at Yuri, despair written all over his face. "T-thank you for taking care of him," he started before his eyes wandered away again, glancing back towards the bathroom door. "He doesn't deserve this kind of pain." He looked down at the floor for a second or two, then he turned back around and addressed Yuri in desperation. "What am I supposed to do? How can I protect him when I can't even help him through this?" Guy was at a loss, plain and simple.

Yuri was quiet for several moments, and looked towards the door where Luke was currently hanging out in the bathroom. "Don't be so hard on yourself."

He then sighed and swung his legs around so that he was only sitting on the window sill and not in the window itself.

"We all have things we regret, things we wish never happened. This is just one of those for Luke. As much as I hate to admit it, he'll have to figure this one out on his own." It was part of growing up after all. Realizing just how big, bad and ugly the real world was.

Yuri's words made sense, although Guy still wished that it didn't have to be the case. He knew he couldn't turn back time, though, and he knew what Yuri meant when he said that there are things we regret. Guy knew that all too well. Even though he could not have prevented the loss of his entire family, he still felt the regret and guilt of it every time he tried in vain to remember the face of his sister. The pain was still there with him, as it always had been, but he had long since moved on. Now it was time for Luke to move on.

"Yeah... Yeah, you're right," Guy said numbly. He closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling deeply. "I just wish that there was something I could do."

Yuri stood up and moved over to Guy to clap him on the shoulder. "Well you could start by letting him out of my bathroom. Man, I gotta pee."

He then smirked. "He'll be okay. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
