Oh god he was suicidal or something. One does not wish for stronger monsters, not really. "Marcus, and really? I pity the guy who gets your repair jobs." Anything with runes confused Marcus on the technical aspect. If it worked that was all he needed to know.

"Ha! Would it help to point out that outside of the clans this is my first time fighting like this? Now move!" Lance rolled back as Marcus moved, activating his weapon's Fear attack.
A spark of fire seemed to ignite at the tip of his lance, growing and flaring until the hunter was covered in it. The fire seemed to form itself into a fireball; no. It redefined itself, forming the vague hint of a non-fireball shape before it launched itself forward at the phoenix and rammed it.

His first time outside of the clans fighting? What? This guy was nuts. Part of Marcus wasn't surprised, while another part of him was. Deus ex, insanity comes in many forms.
As the fire ignited, Marcus was pressing himself to the wall. No thank you of being on the business end of that. It sure as all hell took a good chunk out of the Bird but it was still kicking. Resuming position he nodded at Lance briefly. "Thanks for the warning and- I am hesitant to say that we might not get our asses handed to us now."

The fiery shape seemed to twist mid-air after striking the phoenix, landing daintily on the ground with a soft click before the fire fell away. Lance swiped his free hand across his face, clearing the sweat as best as he could. He was soaked with it, but the devil-may-care grin on his face was even larger now with the attack complete.
"Ha! You worry too much Marcus," Lance replied, readying his lance for another strike. "It's going to take a lot more than this to take us down. I've barely even warmed up!"

Worry might as well have been Marcus's middle name given recent relationship events. "Well if I didn't worry, who would be defending you? And dude no-" He felt something his his sword before pulled back. God he hated birds. He officially hated birds.
Giving a swing to try and send it back he quickly used the second to bring his sword back up. "You'll jinx us."

Lance threw back his head and laughed, manipulating his wheelchair to dart out from under Marcus' cover to jab at the bird before pulling back. "Touche, you've got me there! Don't get hung up over the little things, though. Pop quiz! Another one shows up. What'll you do?"

Yeeeep. Insane. Not a bad insane but just a relatively normal Deus ex type insane. The question had a shudder run through as he considered it. "I call for Dakota and Harrison and tell them to bring company. "
Another attack and another block. "Other option is to try and be badasses but that seems flat out idiotic."

Lance nodded, then realized that Marcus couldn't see the motion. "Wise choice," he complimented, focusing his attention on the phoenix. "Back-up is always good to have on hand, just in case. While taking a last stand is always an option, leave it for last. You never know if you'll make it out in one piece or several."
He said nothing more, as his tone leveled out, becoming serious. He was all too familiar with that last choice, and now wasn't exactly a good time for lectures or storytime. The former Sun hunter considered their shared opponent before spinning his wheelchair, striking out again at the Insanity-riddled phoenix.

"s**t!" Lance hissed, the lance jabbing the space where the phoenix was and not where it is. He spun his wheel back then forward again, trusting forward at the creature again a second time.
The phoenix squealed as Lance's thrust hit it, the hunter withdrawing his weapon quickly.

Marcus flinched as the bird was missed then in a clean motion, skewered. "First fight outside of the clans my a**. There is no way." Narrowly having enough time to bring up his sword, the screech it let out had him scowling.

The compliment brought forth another grin and chuckle. "Believe it. Clans was the first mission I went on ever since I got my a** stuck in this chair. This is the first time doing any sort of isolated fighting, sparring included." He struck out again with his lance, thrusting towards the bird.
"Outings like this do one hell of a job for moral," Lance added. "It's been way too long since I've done something like this. You're doing one hell of a good job too!"

Holy- "Jesus christ man." Shaking his head, he tried to keep an eye on the phoenix. "From the way you're shanking this thing, I mean, it's a little hard to believe. And thanks. I need the practice." He winced as a claw almost got his hand. "A lot of practice at that. But, you think you'll be working with us trainees more?"

A wing in his face and for a second, Marcus was simply stuck, unsure where it would hit. It was pure luck when he managed to stop a talon from getting him. Looking at what Lance mentioned Marcus frowned as he got ready yet again. "Better a mini thing than this thing pulling a flatworm on us."
