“I… I… no…” Truthfully it had never occurred to him, and now, as she bought it up, he wondered why. Looking back he thought that perhaps there were females that had tried to get a little closer than he had been interested in, the signals they were giving completely overlooked.

He looked disconcerted, but he didn’t retreat from her. Fun? Jinx seemed quite keen now and he felt caught, uncertain. Something about it felt wrong, but he tentatively shifted forward, offering a hesitant smile.

"It's not just about love and baby-making, you know," she teased, her muzzle reaching out to brush over his shoulder scale, suggestively tracing lightly across his flank as she strode slowly past him. When she reached his rear hip she lifted her head, looking back at him, the playful reassurance in her smile making it clear that fun was all this was to be -- she certainly didn't intend to lifemate her best friend. "I'll show you," she promised, stepping towards the brush and greater privacy to continue with tonight's somewhat unexpected but no less intriguing turn of events.

Omen didn’t speak. He continued to look extremely uncomfortable but her words and reassuring smile slowly swayed his decision. To make him take that step and try something new, despite his misgivings, that was something only Jinx could accomplish. He trusted her. The buck hesitated only a little longer… and then followed.
