A moment later its fingers unfolded to reveal the emblem nestled into its silvery palm. "I know I said later, but... but you deserve this now, I... She continued to sit there for a moment slowly shifting to stand up, arms dangling loose at her side as she slowly made her way over head hanging ever so slightly as she did. Her fingers slowly plucked the emblem from the doctors hands, fingers moving carefully to pin it behind Shehk's sitting on her collar.
With that done her left hand moved to take it's own tugging the doctor into a hug as she whispered softly.
"I'll carry you when you can' walk, I'll carry everyone, I'll fight for those who can't and I will do all of this and more. You are my family, you are the people I love, I don't want to lose anyone else."

"Familia...." Malodore said, quietly. "Heh, I thought... I thought I didn't have anyone left." But its beak creaked open just the tiniest bit, in the smallest possible expression that might be considered a plague doctor smile. "I suppose I was incorrect, then. I must... I must do what I can. I do not know what I can do," it added, letting out a sound that was half-sigh, half-sob. "But I will find out. And I will do it."
A pause. "Grazie mille."

"You have us, all of us Doc." A boned finger reached up to pat the doctor on the head gently as they spoke to one another. A reassuring pat to calm it just a bit more. "What ever you do, you will do great at it. You have everyone here to help you."
Eventually the hug parted and Sammy simply cocked her head looking at the doctor as it spoke it's thanks in it's common tongue. She only nodded bowing her head.
"I'm going to head back, I need to check on Siddie, but you know where to find me doc. Any time."

"Si... yes, and I will find you." There was that tiny half-smile again. "We have many battles ahead of us, and not all of them against Hunters - but we will fight them, and we will triumph. Take care of yourself, and yours."
And it would do the same for itself, as best it could.
