For several moments, Jericho stared back at the pricolici as she explained her conviction. Her resolve. He wanted to believe in her, but right now his heart was just set so heavily. It felt like there was little hope for him, and the effects of his affliction certainly did not help with that mindset. The voices sounded as if they were whispering 'doom' and similar things over and over.
Shuddering, his gaze soon cast downwards.
"We... we don't want to die.."

As he confessed that he didn't want to die, Shehk softened, pulling him into another hug, half cradling him as she did so. Fear. They didn't know what lay beyond the stone, and they didn't know how to fix it at that time. There was so much they needed to learn.
It felt like she'd wasted so much time trying to figure it out already.
"I don't want you to either." she whispered, "and I won't let you. I promise that as long as I can, I won't stop fighting this every way I can."

Truly dying had never been a huge concern for Jericho. He knew it was possible, but it really wasn't something that happened all too often, especially to the younger generations. And yet, more than ever, the possibility seemed to be looming just over the horizon. It wasn't something he was sure what it would bring. The possibility scared him.
They didn't know much about the affliction, and furthermore, he didn't know how much time he had left.
Sniffling, a few more tears began to roll down his face as Shehk pulled him into another hug. Nodding, he just held onto her words, wanting to believe her.

Shehk just continued to hold him there, saying nothing. There wasn't anything more she could say, really, that she hadn't already said. He knew what had happened and he knew she was going to keep fighting. Even though it did leave an empty place in her heart to think that maybe he would be the only one that the fighting did any good for.
"It's okay to cry." she whispered. "I'll stay here with you, so take as long as you need."

"Thank you..." he practically whimpered as he leaned into her. There was nothing else to be said at this point. Jericho was completely worn. Rest did not come easy to him anymore, and the amount of crying he had been doing only drained his energy further.

She settled in for a long haul, stroking his hair and saying nothing more. She'd just stay there and let him take what comfort he could from her presence. Shehk didn't have anywhere more important to be than right there.
She was already in the best place she could have been after everything was said and done.
