At Earendil's urging, Andarien picked up his bag again, grunting with the effort it took. It was quite a heavy bag for such a little boy, after all. With a chuckle, Earendil changed bags with him, giving him the lighter, runed bag instead to carry.
Andarien was quite happy with that arrangement, and he slung Earendil's bag onto his back and trotted happily along after Triton.

They went down one hallway and up one flight of stairs. While the manor wasn't as big as a palace by any stretch of the imagination, it was still large. Having been built during Daemon's time, in which the main house had to stand out from the rest of the buildings (even though there were no other buildings back then).
The hallway that was set aside for Lin and Earendil's family was denoted by an arched open door way. There were four rooms in the hallway, a precaution taken by Donovan because he figured Lin was the most like Kara. Though he seriously doubted anyone could match the number of children Kara had taken in.
Triton opened the door to the room Earendil and Lin would be staying in. The room had to be heavily modified to suit an elf and an angel. It was an unusually large room by Gaian standards, even for a master bedroom, but it had to fit the bed, which had to fit Earendil and Lin together, and that didn't even include the desk, the couch, the dresser, the desk chair, the bookshelf and the night tables. All while not blocking the closet, the bathroom door, or the sitting niche that was part of the large long window.
"Here's your room," he looked over at Lin and Earendil.
Not that he needed to tell them that, her pets had made themselves home in that room and the window was open to let them out. On the wall someone had managed to mount a display of all of the 'flowers' Lin had ever been given onto the wall. He felt the side of the wall and flipped the switch even though there was still light coming through the window. The overhead lights turned on.
"The light switch is here," he turned off again, "And there are lamps on the night tables, but Lin can explain that."
He turned and went over to the room across the hall. Inside, it looked like someone had moved most of Lin's childhood stuff and shove it into that room including her old bed and dolls. The only thing that was missing were her weapons, which Lin had.
"Miyuki, this will be your room," Triton explained.
He went to the right of Miyuki's door to open another door. Unlike the other rooms, this one was pretty generic. It had deep dark wood furniture, and a white bed cover to keep the dust off. Otherwise it was bare, but Triton figured the next time they visited it wouldn't be.
"Andarien, this will be your room," Triton explained, "It's pretty plain, sorry about that."

Andarien slipped past Triton and looked around the room. At first he was excited, but when he saw just how plain the room was, his face fell.
"Well," he said finally, trying to be brave, "at least I can put my egg and my blocks in here, right?"
He looked around again, then looked up at Triton, his expression anxious. "Can I have one of those things in here like is in the other room? With the pointy things that move?"

Triton smiled, "I'll see if I can ask Kali for one of her clocks."
He made a note to mention it to Kali, maybe she had an idea what would be good for Andarien.
"And you can put anything you like here, the next time you visit, this will be your room."

Andarien stared at Triton. "But not this time?" he asked, confused, lowering Earendil's bag to the floor. "Am I staying with Mi this time?"
That was what he'd done when they'd stayed in the Southland, so to him it only made sense ... if this wasn't going to be his room until the next time they visited anyways.

"When I mean it'll be your room, I mean permanently," Triton explained, "At the moment it's really a guest room."
Which probably wasn't a good description of it since the guest rooms had more decoration. Really it was just a room, it always paid in a family like theirs to have an extra room or two set up and on hand just in case.
"I guess what I mean to say is, the next time you visit it won't be so plain."

"Ohhhhhhh, okay," Andarien nodded. "I get it."
Earendil put Andarien's bag on his bed. "Why don't you start unpacking your things?" he suggested. "Your mother and I need to unpack our things, too, so we might as well get that out of the way."
"'Kay," Andarien agreed, climbing up onto the bed to open his bag. "But you'll be close, right?"
Earendil smiled softly. "Right across the hall," he replied. "We'll keep our door open, too, so you can find us easily."

"And I'll be next door," Miyuki added, "Unlike the Southland palace these doors are easier to open."
Made of light wood instead of those heavy large doors they had before.
"And if you need any help, just ask," Lin added.
Triton excused himself to let the family unpack, besides he had to try and do more of the dinner (even though he knew he was getting help).

"Kay," Andarien agreed. "Just don't go anywhere without me, 'kay? This place is more complicated than the palace."
At least, to him. But then, he wasn't paying attention here, and wasn't used to the place yet. He'd been at the palace for a long time, and with his memory he had learned the layout of the place inside and out.

Lin chuckled, because that was probably both true and not true at the same time. The manor wasn't that complicated but the grounds as a whole probably was.
"We won't, don't worry," she assured him as she took Earendil's arm and led him back to their room.

Andarien took his time in unpacking his bag. He put all of his papers on top of the desk and stacked his blocks neatly on a shelf - unfortunately, beyond that, he didn't have much, so he ended up dumping his clothes on his bed and refolding them all neatly before putting them onto the shelf below his blocks. He didn't know what to do with anything else in the room, it was really his first time having a room to himself.
When he couldn't figure out what else to do, he meandered into the hallway to look for the rest of his family.

Lin was carefully putting her clothes away, it was kind obvious which side was hers because all the clothes she didn't take with her was on her side. It felt a bit strange being back and yet not being in the room she had grown up with for most of her life.
Yet, it had things she was familiar with. Like the flowers that Earendil gave her, or her vase that now served as decoration in the corner of the room, or the fact her cell phone was on one of the night tables.
When she had finished she surveyed the room once more. This might take some getting use to for once.

Rather than unpacking everything, Earendil unpacked only his clothes. He didn't have the room here like he had back at the palace. He didn't have a study here, nor did he feel like he needed one. Not for those sorts of things, anyways.
He spotted the vase in the corner just as he and Lin were preparing to leave their room and looked at it thoughtfully.
"Is that the vase you were born from?" he asked her curiously, nodding at it.

Lin chuckled, "The very one."
It certainly looked like a vase she would have owned, it was her favourite colour, which was interesting. That was often the case for a lot of the vases.
Miyuki had wandered out into the hallway, unpacking was relatively easy and since they hadn't gone far to end up in Gaia she didn't have to brush or wash herself.

Andarien latched onto Miyuki the moment she appeared, attaching himself to her with a firm grip on her sleeve.
"Did you get all your stuff done?" he asked her, looking up at her as if everything were normal.
Earendil smiled. "It's the first time I've seen it ... I just thought of that. It just seemed ... significant, all of a sudden."
He chuckled and moved to join Lin, holding one hand out to her. "But we'd best join the children and go for dinner, I think. Yes?"
