He lifted his gaze to meet Candace's, feeling just as tired as she sounded.
"You should rest," he told her quietly, and squeezed her fingers as though to let her know he was fine without saying it aloud. Stepping closer, he stood on his tiptoes and kissed her bruised cheek before sliding his hand free and stepping away. He would see her after he rested - after they both rested - but for now she was all right.
And so was Eva.
For a moment, Gale just stood there, watching her walk towards him, and his chest seemed a little too tight, inhaling a short breath.
She was alive.
Her arms reached out to him for a hug, and Gale wrapped his around her waist, feeling his heart clatter in his chest, a feeling of overwhelming relief sweeping through him just at the sight of her.
"As you can see, I kept my promise about not dying. I see that you have too."
When she pulled away, Gale reached up his hand and very gently touched her cheek with his fingertips.
"I'm glad you didn't have to break your promise," he said quietly, and dropped his hand, moving around her and making his way slowly and silently towards the showers to finally get clean and take a very, very long nap.
"And I'm glad I could keep mine to you."

Dakota rolled over as he felt the tap to his side and a familiar voice. Oh that was mean Marcus, Dakota frowned in his little nap. The kick got a even deeper frown.
"Ouch you ********." His eye's snapped open and narrowed on the hunter.
"Wellll...." Dakota grumbled, "You didn't forget about me did you?" He curled into a ball, "I'm not a douche, you are. Too bad your still alive, cause I was that close to getting your girl." Dakota grumbled again before sighing. "I'm glad your alive, now I don't have to go looking for some poor love sick saps journal to give to his widow."
............
"I'm glad your alive Marcus...." Dakota looked at the hunter. "Now go the ******** away so I can bleed the rest of my life away okay? ******** a injured man down, Beating the dead horse...Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit."
Dramatic much Dakota? >B|

Squatting down next to Dakota, Marcus scowled. "Of course not. How the ******** could I? You're such an annoy perverted d**k face I think I would need therapy to forget you." His words didn't match his actions and he moved to pull Dakota into a hug. "And ******** you. I survived and no,you can't have Cass." He hugged him tighter. "And we're not married yet ******** face and you can't bleed out I'll take you to the ******** infirmary. I didn't want to see you just to see you die goddamn it." Getting up, he pushed at Dakota again. "Get the ******** up Dakota or I'll kick you again. kick you and drag you to the Infirmary."

Why was Marcus with Dakota and not her?
Cass felt that pang of panic that she'd gotten when the FORBIDDEN LOVERS picture had been sent to everybody and she cocooned herself up into a blanket, letting out a pathetic whine. Marcusssss were you leaving her? as;dlfkahdsfasdfadf.
Paranoia was starting to settle in.

"I will, right after I get a shir--" Now that was a surprise. Candace was actually thrown off by the sudden kiss against her cheek; it was purely out of surprise, though his lips pressing against her bruise did hurt a little. It wasn't painful enough to flinch and push him away. Candace returned the sentiment, giving Gale a kiss against his temple and one last hug and then watched him leave. He'd be fine. They were safe now.
Candace winced and held her head with both hands as a rush of sounds flooded her head. It sounded like...laughter? ********. This wasn't Atropos. I'm right here. That was Atropos. That was the voice that drowned out the laughter and brought her comfort. Candace sighed and nodded, making her way to where she saw clothes being kept. The sweats were unflattering but better than what she had. Candace was so angry over the loss of her Mist coat, she'd have to find a new one. Goddamnit.
But for now? Sleep. She made a beeline for the first empty bed she could find, curling up under its blanket and falling asleep almost the moment her head hit the pillow.

They were finally back and still alive, but was it really over? What had happened to the phoenix that passed through the portal? Was it going to get worse from here? Ryan felt too exhausted to go over the what if's. He just wanted to lay down, curl up, and sleep for the next three years.
:Sleep after you get yourself bandaged up!:
Ahhh there was that obnoxious little voice that he had sort of missed.
:I can't believe you stabbed yourself--twice! You really are useless. Were you even trying back there?: There was an obvious hint of amusement in the carbuncle's voice, but just hearing it made Ryan tempted to pretend that he hadn't heard the carbuncle at all. It wasn't like he hadn't tried. He just got... confused. If he could call it that. He hadn't hit any allies... other than himself. That much he could remember and he supposed he should be thankful of that at least. Still, maybe Locke was right.

Clerise trudged through the portal, rage leaving her even as she was ushered through. This wasn't home, but christ, she didn't really give a ********. "..........................................." Neither would anyone else, really. Memories of Danica had really thrown the redhead for a loop-- she looked as though she had seen a ghost. Even in death, she had been saccharine sweet and yielding-- but so cold. Clerise was so ******** tired. Tired and weary and little else. Introspection would have to wait until later. "..........................................." Please come back soon. I miss you.

Adrenaline was still pumping hard through the Misty's veins, after being yelled at to leave by a ******** Halloween creature and getting attacked in the process, Before wasn't in the most pleasant of moods. Not to mention he managed to wallop himself pretty good with his own partner and a part of him wondered if she'd done it on purpose >n> His exhaustion was making him surly and more irritable and he didn't have the strength to push it back.
He desummoned his weapon, failing to even feign good cheer when told they got to take showers and sleep. "I'll wait my turn," he muttered, turning on his heel intending to go sulk in a corner. The movement caused his shoulder to nudge against someone, but instead of apologizing, Before simply ignored it.

He'd nudged his bro. No apologies necessary. The albino was barely moving, legs like sludge and eyes wide but unseeing. He wanted a nap, just a nap, but could he sleep with unusual whispers on the edge of his consciousness? He needed to find his friends. Make sure they were okay. The nudge made Bix turned, his pale skin showing the dark circles of exhaustion. A twitch happened in his eye every time some sound teased in his mind, just out of reach. "Bro.." He smiled a bit, pulling the surly Misty into a hug, but it was brief. "Glad you're okay." Bix didn't wait for a response before peeling away and veering towards the bunks like a zombie. Where was Molly? He needed to apologize before he laid down.

Five hours?
Had it really taken them five hours to get between that place and here? It had seemed like the phoenix had just flown through…
Michael felt incredibly off balance at this idea but… the Hunter would not lie and the proof was on his vine free skin. Well, almost vine free. Michael traced one hand absentmindedly along a flower mark as he looked at the cave that was now ‘home’.
He swallowed at the thought of what could be happening above ground, for all they knew they wouldn’t have any buildings to go back to by the time it was done.
He hoped it would at least leave the graveyards alone.
He frowned, great he’d probably just jinxed it and the first thing it would have destroyed would have been Joz’s grave.
Hell, he really wanted to punch something but at least he thought this time the emotion was his own and not that bloodlust.
Nuucha fluttered uneasily in the back of his mind at that reminder, he loved battle but even that had been too much for hime - no purpose at all.

Sherry took in the sight of the underground base in silence. She listened as the trainees were told about the arrangements. I wonder what is happening upstairs...
True. As usual, what Armagnac said made sense. Sherry was grateful for that voice in her head, it helped to shut out the faint laughter. A shiver ran down her spine.
Sherry nodded, and turned to see about getting cleaned up.

Okay, so he wasn't dead. This was a very good thing. Although he still felt like curling up in the fetal position, for now he was trying to hide in one of the corners of the room. It was hard for him to process what had just happened, but in a nutshell he had figured this much out
-Fight a giant phoenix -Destroy the four clans island - Get his a** handed to him by girls in pink - Made it back in one piece to the home base (or something like it) - Find out his weapon was some sort of angelic..demon thing - Is now forced to share showers with everyone, sleep in shifts, and on the hole put up with a lot of bad vibes.
This was not going to end well.

Before's instincts had him tensing at the contact, arms ready to rise to either block of shove himself away. He never got the chance to resist or reciprocate because Bix was quick to let go. Left to himself, Before wondered if there was more to the hasty gesture that simply Bix wanted to get some rest ASAP. He rushed forward, placing a hand on the tall Sunny's shoulder and stating softly, "Glad to see you're okay too."
Then he was off, stumbling on his own feet in search of Tori. He hadn't seen her since that Phoenix thing emerged and oh God, what had he been babbling at the time? He remembered calling out for Ariane of all people and it just. No. Just no. Desperately he searched, realizing too late that he'd bumped into someone. At the moment, there was no apologies from Before.

Syd looked up, her eyes huge, her hands tightening on her weapon. It wasn't to shoot, though, it was more like a child with a teddy bear. She stared at Before with hesitation, then looked down. "Sorry," she said quietly. "I was in the wrong place." She wanted Aleister, and Sasha, and Victoria, and Wilson--anyone that she knew, someone that could tell her that everything was okay now, even though she knew it wasn't. "Are you okay?" she abruptly asked the mist that had run into her. They had been in the fight together on the island--the one where she had had her fear shield broken. "A lot of people were going after you in that fight--"

Before canted his head at the apology, mildly unaccustomed to being on the receiving end. And at first he questioned the female Misty's sincerity but thankfully she quickly segued into a different topic. "Forget about it," he decided, waving a gloved hand in dismissal despite having been the one at fault. "Senses are a bit shot. Y-you haven't seen Story, have you?" he asked, teal eyes wide in concern and panic over the what became of the Lifer. He was completely oblivious to the fact that most of his fellow Hunters didn't know the little names he'd given the people he'd met.
