Uhra smiled lightly, relaxing against the feel of walking. It was normal, so she could easily relax into it. Of course, when did Uhra not relax? She was usually a very easy going mare; unless she was worried over something ( in which she tended to flail a bit and act oddly ). Wiggling her nose against a sneeze, she shook her head for a moment, before glancing back over her shoulder, watching Adom as she walked. He was worried, and stressed, and she could easily pick that up about him. Of course, he was usually that upset nad irritated and... other things. Taking in a deep breath, Uhra slowed a bit to where she could walk next to Adom, and let him control the speed.
"Don't worry, Adom... We'll make it." She said, her voice gentle. Whether she meant to the herdlands or in their parenting was unstated, and uncertain. There could be the chance she spoke of both. If that were the case, she knew they would get to the herdlands. Adom knew where he was going, and he was smart, and strong. She would follow him anywhere he said to go, if it meant staying by him. As for the children... It frightened her. But once more, due to Adom being there, she was certain she could do it; they could do it. Anything that they needed to do.
Shifting slightly, Uhra glanced at him, and smiled. She shook her head slowly, before tilting it to the side some. "I... I dunno. I've thought about doing something to honor your family... But..." She paused, her eyes going thoughtful, before she glanced at him and smiled lightly. "Shouldn't we see them first? And then decide on names?" It was a good philosophy, even though she was certain that names would be something that was going to bother both of them for a while.

[Note: Raven is my Soquili, she was gifted to Ronso/Kijani who was then given to me. The cert with my username was lost/deleted from the PB and I need to get one made again, this one was given to me by Uta in the meantime but her stats is in my Teepee! This also takes place before her run in with Reject] The smell in the air was delicious as she walked along, cloven hooves sinking into the snow as her tail swayed dangerously behind her. Raven was hungry, and in these snowy peaks where bountiful were out to try and find food under the blanket of white.
Yet she could smell something...two somethings not far off.
Licking her lips as she ruffled her wings and went into a quiet and slow trot she could see something far ahead moving. At first she could see only the brown one...but once she got closer she could also see the blue of a white one more. Wonderful....her dinner would be very filling today.
Flapping her wings not once, but twice she glided over the snow till she landed a few meters back with a thud, a deep rumbling chuckle escaping her throat. "Well what do we have here little morsels. Its not wise to travel alone when there are big stomachs to feed out here in the mountain..." Raven smirked wildly, her head tilting as her wings spread. Already she could feel the saliva building in her mouth...hunger was going wild today. It had been a while since she'd come across something at least this large...and the possibility of two would mean she could have a break for a while.

"I sure hope so..." Adom smiled lightly, trying to control his breathing as he was aware that she slowed her pace for him. He didn't want her to go too fast, his calculations didn't have them that far off so the least he could do as they walked was make sure she paced herself and not worry about their timing. He couldn't tell the context of her words as he had a feeling it could have been their arrival, or their starting journey into parenthood...but his meaning too was a little of both.
As they spoke about names he wondered what would be appropriate, and when she spoke of honoring his family he felt his cheek rise in a bit of a blush. It was he who was honored that she was joining his herd in the first place let alone go to the lengths to name after his kin. "Just....lets be careful about it. My Mother is already going to have a crazy fit with joy, we don't need to hear names all hours of the day from her too." Adom wouldn't put it past her either, besides, she had this crazy instinct of naming akin to what she felt in someone's soul...whatever that entailed. "I hope they look like you..." He muttered, but was being truthful. What gifts that would be!
However it was short lived as he felt the hair on his back rise. The birds had stopped chirping and everything was really quiet for but a few moments until a thud had happened behind them and he whirled around. Eyes shot open wise as he felt his hear sink well under the snow. How had he not notice it sooner, as he was looking up to the Uni-kalona who by her words had clear intention to harm and devour. In panic mode his mind was racing with everything he'd learned about them and knew not much good was going to come of it. His legs were shaking, but he summoned his courage and quickly moved in front of Uhra and was pushing her back with his shoulder.
"Uhra...I need you to do something for me. Please, don't question or resist. I need you run, use the heading we are on. You'll see the entrance, only mini's can fit through. Get help..." He turned his head only for a moment, the desperation in his eyes as clear as day as the probability of his survival was slim without the help of his family...but it was something he had to face. It wasn't just about them anymore, and he was ready as he was ever going to be to face it. "Just know...I love you." Touching his nose to her's for a second he summoned up every ounce of courage he had and ran, ran right towards the Kalona mare who laughed at such a pitiful display till he snuck right under her and bit down hard on her back leg, earning a pained and enraged shriek.
"GO!" He bellowed to Uhra, letting go of her leg and racing down the slope the best he could. At least on the way down he would have more speed and the ability to weave in the trees, hopefully bide some time for her to make it back. "Come and get me you ugly B*tch!"
And....she did as she raced after him, all intent to end that defiance.

Uhra watched him with gentle eyes. She let a small laugh escape her lips. She was excited to meet this mother. She seemed so... light hearted and kind. Her hooves lifted slowly, dragging a bit of snow as she did. She let her tail give another flick, and shook out her mane, before glancing over at him again. "I... Am very excited to meet your family, Adom." She stated, her head nodding slowly as she shifted a bit and sniffed at the ground.
Everything was fine.
Until the Kalona appeared. Panic entered her eyes immediately, and she took a deep breath, her body trembling. She slowly started to back up, but felt Adom put her as well. Her muscles trembled slightly as she shook her head. This wasn't happening. She backed up carefully, before staring quietly toward Adom. Was he serious? She shook her head slowly, before glancing back forward. Her heart was racing, and fear ran straight through her body. "Adom.. I.." She shook her head, terror etching farther and farther into her. He was serious. He wanted her to run. She hesitated for several seconds, before turning, and dashed.
Her small body had difficulty in the snow; that mixed with the condition she had of carrying children now. She felt tears stinging at her eyes, her body trembling. She could barely see through the blur that the water caused, but from what she could tell the Kalona wasn't following. Her eyes flickered up, and she spotted the entrance. The one that only Mini's could fit through. Nodding her head quickly, she ducked into the small opening, fighting her way through the hole quickly, before stumbling, but caught herself quickly, her eyes flickering in front of her. She wasn't sure if anyone would be around to hear her, but she had to try... She had to do something.
"Somebody! Anybody, please! He's in trouble! Help! Please!" She cried out, her body completely trembling. She could feel her body wanting to just collapse. Within seconds, she was falling down onto her knees and side, gently, but still moving to lay down. She panted, her eyes closed tightly, her mind going numb, heart throbbing painfully. What would she do if no one heard her...
What would she do if Adom...
If he...
Uhra felt the panic and fear swell in her chest quickly, and it only took her a few moments before she burst into sobs, her body trembling.

It had been but a normal day at the herd lands, and one which had the hustle and bustle of the daily chores. Darius lounged on a large rock, yawning boredly as he was keeping an eye on his Mother tend to the gardens, preparing them for a long winter ahead even though the snow had already fallen from their elevation. He didn't know where everyone else had gone to, but needless to say after hauling in more sticks for his parents he was 'done' per say unless someone asked him otherwise.
Flicking his ears up he could hear something, turning his head towards the small hole Ikinya had found during her time here which lead down the rocky slope. For a moment he wondered if they were expecting company and tilted his head when another little horse burst through. For but a second his tail began to wag furiously in excitement at the possibilities of a new friend before her cry rang out and his brows narrowed. Without a moment to spare he jumped from the rock and swiftly moved over to her, leaning his head down to sniff at her and press his nose against her cheek.
"Don't cry..." He urged, his voice surprisingly soft for someone his size. "Who is in..." Darius cut himself short as he sniffed again, smelling one other scent on this mare in abundance. "Adom..." Eyes wide he lifted his head and bellowed in more of a howl than anything. "Mom! MOM!"
As soon as the little filly poked her head from around the long house and saw what was transpiring, Darius looked back to the little mare who sobbed...for what he could only assume was for his brother. It was nearly impossible to make the mutant angry, but messing with his family did the trick as he growled deeply with his fangs bared under his lips. "Tell Momma, okay?" He said to Uhra, before taking a running start and took to the air; sailing down to the scent trail Uhra had left behind.
It had startled her greatly to hear such an urgent cry from her son, and immediately dropped what she was doing to check on what the commotion was about. Usually his urgent-ness was about hunger, and more or less he would follow her around like a massive shadow whining and whimpering till he was fed. This was different though, and as she peered around the log house her heart leapt into her throat as she saw the sobbing form of a mare much like herself. "Oh no.."
Racing over as fast as her little legs could carry her she watched as Adom flew off, down the slope as her mind raced. Was something awful heading to their home? Usually the place remained unnoticed, and she liked to think the presence of an Angeni helped greatly in their protection...but as she looked over the mare she seemed to be unharmed.
Thank goodness.
"Child, what's wrong? You're safe now..." She urged, leaning down with a compassionate smile. "Dry your tears, we have protection here..." My, what had spooked her so badly?
Little did she know, it was something very close to her heart.

The mare let out another soft cry, calling for someone to come and aid her. Her head ducked down slightly, eyes closed, body shuddering, shivering. She was cold, and scared. And everything ached. But the worst part was her fear. Fear that struck into her chest so hard that she felt sick; much like her heart was about to come out of her throat. She tried to calm herself. Help. She had to find help. But when she opened her eyes, and saw this huge creature coming toward her, fear struck again. Usually Uhra was a rather trusting Soquili. She even had known a rather nice Kalona that she could rely on a little. But now... Now she was too scared to even consider it.
She almost cried out as Darius got close; almost flailed and tried to hit at him. But when he nosed her, and tried to comfort her, she felt a bit calmer. But it still didn't stop her tears, and her fear. She shook her head, trying to talk, trying to do anything, but nothing but small cries came. He seemed to know Adom though, by the way he spoke; and that helped some. But what if it was too late? She ducked her head slightly and felt her shoulders shake from the fear and sadness that developed strongly in her heart. He couldn't be... he couldn't die... Not after all they had been through; all they would be through.
She watched him fly off. Uhra was concerned, and scared. So scared. She tried to stand, but her stomach hurt. She imagined the run didn't take to the children very well. Shifting carefully, she nosed as best as she could at her stomach, eyes closing tightly. She couldn't lose all of them. She wouldn't make it if both Adom and her children were gone. Another mini appeared then; a mare like herself. Uhra turned her gold eyes toward the spotted female, and stared for a few moments, before shaking her head quickly. Protection? Adom wasn't protected...
Turning her head slightly toward the entrance, she prayed that he would just come bursting in after her; but after staring for a moment with no appearance, she turned her head away and let out a rather harsh sob, before sniffling and tried to respond. "She... She's after him... My Adom... She's going to kill him and... and..." Another sob followed, and Uhra felt she could do nothing more than duck her head down and try and cry, her heart aching horribly in her chest.

Concern filled her eyes as the mare wasn't responding normally, Ikinya didn't have special powers, but she could feel in the core of her motherly heart something was horribly wrong. The sob which wracked the ivory mare caused her own breath to hitch in her throat, and immediately she felt her resolve crack slightly. Listening to the mare speak brokenly, Ikinya's eyes widened in panic when she heard two very distinct words.
Adom....kill.....
Adom? HER Adom? That little foal she'd risked her own life to seize from that skin walker now facing another situation? Ikinya felt lost without the pieces of the puzzle, she was sure the day wouldn't come, as her son had made it more of a mission to remain out of trouble. He was a very, very smart boy...out of all her children he was the last she would have thought would be in a very scary situation as this.
Yet....as she reeled in her own thoughts, it seemed there was something she didn't account for...which was laying right in front of her sobbing. Ikinya supposed, Adom wasn't just hers any more....and for a fraction of a second her heart swelled that he'd found someone. Found someone he would throw all his reason to the wind to protect with his life.
Despite this, Ikinya wasn't going to let that happen.
She knew her boys better than they may have wished, and turning her head she looked off into the direction Darius had flown...most likely racing with all his might to get to the brother who grudged him so. Although it felt like her heart was breaking, she had her own pressing matters. Adom had stepped out of his comfort zone for this mare, and Ikinya would make sure to respect his wish.
"I know my boys. Adom is smart, he'll make sure to come back. If he's done something of this caliber, you must mean the world to him." Ikinya soothed, offering a convincing smile. "Darius will not let anything happen to his dear brother." As long as Adom could keep his pacing, Darius would make it. Ikinya felt it in her very soul.
"I know its hard, but you need to come out of the snow. You don't look so well..."

Despite the mare's obvious realization of having recognized the name, Uhra didn't catch it. She was too distraught to notice. Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself, but merely sobbed harder. Everything hurt, and everything was upsetting. She trembled, and shook her head, trying to calm herself down. Nothing worked. The mare pinned her ears back, and tried to reclaim her mind. After a moment, she seemed to notice the other mare once more, and lifted her head, peering at her through tear filled eyes.
She listened for a few moments, before staring. Uhra's eyes showed her confusion and worry, her fear, but she didn't dare look away. The kind mare was calming her, very slightly. She took in a shuddering breath, before letting her eyes close as she tried to get her mind in order. The mare watched her for a few moments, before glancing down toward the ground, her eyes staring at her own legs in the snow. They blended in well... The colors.
".... Y... Yes.. You're right.. Are you sure that he'll..." She hesitated, concerned, worried, scared. Shaking her head slowly, she pushed the thought from her mind, and slowly stood, her legs quivering with the effort. Eventually she did stand, and her head remained lowered in fear and pain. She glanced over toward the mare, giving her a half hearted smile, one of full effort, before it faltered again, and she felt the tears streaking her cheeks again and she moved forward slowly, and out of the cold snow.

Despite her best efforts to comfort the mare, Ikinya felt that she too had that horrible pit of worry. She knew with every fiber of her being that Darius could protect, could fight if he really needed to; it was in his blood. However, it was that question of the unknown. What had been chasing him? What if Adom had miscalculated? What if he had been hurt...
No.
Thoughts like that would do nothing to help her son, or the mare he'd left in his family's care. He'd told her the way to get here, Ikinya knew, and therefor he wanted her safe at all costs.
"I would place my life on it." Ikinya said very seriously, following beside Uhra as she lifted her nose to brush away some of the tears on her cheeks. Herding her with her own body as a guide, she moved her to the straw bed outside of the main longhouse, the overhang from the roof was where Darius enjoyed sleeping since she knew her son felt a little crowded with the rest of the family. (Nor did Subira enjoy the stallion flopped all over her then they slept) so he'd chosen to stay outside on mild nights. "Please...lay down and rest." She motioned, before looking around. She wasn't sure if Cuauh was off or not on a flight but she had to try.
"CUAUH!" She bellowed as loud as she could, before picking up a stick Darius had been chewing on and striking it against the wood frame of the longhouse, the echo carrying farther than her voice. Hurry love... She thought, her heart pounding. I need to know our boys are okay. Besides, While Darius was large, he was a lanky stallion in comparison to Cuauhcoatl.

When Darius had called for his mother, his father was buried deep into one of the scrolls he had written a few years earlier while in his human form, having learned about the act of writing and use his domain to create a record of what he learned so he could refresh himself and keep track of his pet projects.
He was all but dead to the world as he chewed on his bottom lip, eyes tight as he looked over the information, rereading his own clunky, clumsy scribbles with a bit of effort. Writing was not a common thing in the Kawani lands, and his made up language had evolved so he was now having to translate and relearn in order to go over his old notes.
However Ikinya's voice hit his ears and he lifted his head up, blinking in confusion as he suddenly became aware of the world around him, and heard the strike of the wood against their shelter.
He stuck his head out of the shelter, blinking in confusion as he tried to figure out what it was, "Yes?"
He slid out of the building and spread his wings open slightly, feathers fluffing a bit against the cold, his coat thicker and pelt shaggier with the winter weather. He then noticed the other mare, and he felt his stomach twist slightly, "...W-what h-happened?" His studder returned with the worry that pounded in his heart, sensing something was wrong.

Uhra's soft eyes flickered to stare toward the giraffe colored mare. She seemed so nice... So much like herself. It was the only way Uhra could really distinguish her. But unlike herself, this mare seemed calm and able to think properly even though she seemed upset as well. Taking a deep breath, Uhra followed her as best as she could, her legs trembling, stomach feeling like it was in knots ( though she wasn't sure if that was due to the babies or not ). She laid herself down slowly, just as the mare instructed, her eyes flickering down, tears stinging her eyes once more. Tilting her head, she glanced toward the entrance once more, before taking in a shuddering breath, and lowered her head once more.
The shout startled her, and followed by the loud bang, she practically jumped from where she had laid down. Her eyes flickered, looking around curiously for the creature that she called. Letting her eyes drift toward the mare once more, Uhra took a deep breath, before speaking as calmly as she could. "Uhra.. M... My name is Uhra.." She whispered, her voice soft, weak. She felt the ground practically shake; even though it was her own fear. Something blocked the sun from her view, and she glanced up. She had never seen, never been so close, to a fully grown large Soquili. And an Angeni at that. Her eyes widened for a moment, focusing on him. This must have been the person the mare had called...
The mare trembled, before lowering her eyes. She took a deep breath, before lowering her gaze. Uhra was scared to tell him. What if he got angry with her? But he didn't seem like he would do anything... Angeni's were meant to be nice, the nicest of the nice, right? So, with another big breath to calm her nerves and her tears, she spoke as calmly as she could. "A-Adom... and I... We were um.. We were coming... h-here, I think... He said that he... he wanted me to meet his family... and we... we were attacked... By a Kalona. She came out of no where..." Shaking her head, she sniffled, before peering up toward the stallion, and then toward the mare. "He told me to run and g-get help... H... He'll be okay... Right?"

Panic caught in Cuauhcoatl's throat, his heart suddenly pounding -- His Eldest son was in danger. He knew the boy was clever enough to avoid capture for a period of time, but Kalona had far better endurance than most Usdia he knew.
However a Kalona, like a Skinwalker, was something the angeni could do something about.
Lowering his head, Cuauhcoatl smiled softly at the mare, his voice soft and comforting, "If I have a-anything to say about it. he'll be h-home safely. B-but I n-need to kn-kn-know w-where you w-were attacked so I can f-find him f-for you."

Somewhat intimidated, Uhra flicked her eyes. She shifted slowly, before forcing herself to stand, wincing a bit as she did. She really needed to rest after that run. She wasn't used to doing so while carrying so much extra weight. Pointing her nose toward the mountain, Uhra stared toward the pass she had ran through. "That way... There was a..... A pass, in the mountains... Adom said to run through there... We were almost there when we were attacked." She paused, turning to look back at Cuauhcoatl, her eyes terrified. "He ran back down the mountain after taunting her to chase him..."
Shaking her head some, Uhra glanced toward the two of them, before letting her eyes flicker down. She took a deep breath, before shuddering, and let out another soft sob. She was going mad. She wanted Adom back. She wanted him to be here taking care of her, and her taking care of him. She missed him, and was worried. Taking a deep breath, she shuddered again, before laying down slowly, ears pinning back. "Please..."

Once Cuauh had appeared from the longhouse, Ikinya couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. Never before had she been in a situation like this, only when she was saving the basket in the first place and even then...the skinwalker they had encountered was more bear minded than soquili minded. It may have been her saving grace.
However, as Uhra began to recall what had happened, a fear laced in her doe brown eyes which caused the little mare's heart to sink. It ached with the ferocity only a mother and one's children being in danger, and she could see it in Cuauhcoatl too.
Life had been blissful, and much like Cabriole's disappearance, it rocked the family once more.
Despite it all, as she watched the little mare lay back down after her mate's reassurance; knowing her heart ached the same. Her's ached for Adom out of love, and she could see it crossing her face. Once the mare had laid down for the final time; Ikinya had walked over to the bed herself; laying down around the outside of her to keep her warm and offer some comfort. Looking up to Cuauh, she had an expression of wavering pain and strength. Ikinya needed to be strong, for the very least this mare. "Darius must have taken off after him, he was the one to find Uhra first." She looked away slightly, furiously blinking away the slight water which had come to her eyes. "Bring our family back home, just like before." Ikinya knew, out of anyone, he'd know exactly what she meant.

Cuauhcoatl nodded, quickly absorbing the new information -- Darius was large, and had been taking hunting lessons from the more experienced Kaliska, but he hunted mostly small game and wasn't really a fighter. Hunting non-spirit touched rabbits and the wild boar that appeared back with the ancestors of the soquili wouldn't help as much as would be necessary to chase off an experienced Cannibalistic Kalona or skinwalker. And Zyanya.... She was off making her rounds, practicing the skills she had been learning in non-lethal combat, and meditation, trying to hone her abilities and what little power she had remaining from her mixed heritage.
The mountains were a considerable distance away -- they must have used the southern pass near the coastal wall, and were in the foothills. The southern pass was longer, but easier to use to get home, cutting a swath like a slope down into the foothills and through part of the forest, the remains of a dried river bed from what Cuauhcoatl could tell. To go north or westward, the path was much more difficult, especially for Usdia.
Turning away, Cuauhcoatl spread his wings and lept into the air with a powerful coil and release of his muscles, flying quickly in the direction Uhra came from.
