{ Atreiyu } Atreiyu snapped her jaws at him. I told you my name, make sure to use it when you address me. Calming down a bit, she added. That is what names are for, am I not correct? They traveled a good mile in silence. She started at an amazing speed and Orion was short on her heels. She closed her eyes in the run, letting out a howl of pure pleasure as the wind whipped through her fur and chimed through the trees - background music to her short lived solo. When they reached the edge of a gloomy forest, she slowed down to a halt, sliding slightly on the dirt. Shh, she beckoned for him to follow and proceeded into the forest. I needed to know if you could make yourself scarce, she answered his question finally.

ORION MALEDICT
The Cursed Orion crouched down near her, his dark cloak seemed to mold into the surrounding environment, folding itself into the shadows where the bright moonlight did not reach. I've been hunted by groups of vampires and werewolves before... They do not take well to the idea of a hybrid, I know how to remain hidden. he whispered silently. His eyes alert, scanning the area for danger. He followed closely behind her until they reached a clearing on a hill, looking down into a valley of trees. It was strangely quiet accept for the sound of water rushing hurriedly over stones, even the insects did not dare breath a sound into the open air of the night. The forests were one place Orion did not venture often, trees provided excellent cover for assassins to hide.
The moon seemed to just reach its peak when a howl exploded into the eerie silence of the forest, seemingly just a few paces away. Quickly it was followed by a series of howls all over the forest. Orion was starting to get uneasy, they seemed to call at the beast within him, challenging him. He did not like to be challenged. Atreiyu, he whispered, What's your plan, why are we here?

{ Atreiyu } Atreiyu laughed under her breath. You'll see... She howled into the wind and a thousand more howls answered her in fury. She only had to wait a few minutes before the first set of snarls penetrated their immediate surroundings. "Atreiyu," they sneered, almost in unison. She grinned at them, flashing a series of sharp white teeth. "Who is this pup?" a gruff voice boomed behind her, forcing her to jump around. The alpha's supporters burst out in mocking laughter at her surprise. "I assure you I am no pup, but a challenger," she smiled slyly, regaining her posture. The wolf in front of her chuckled deep in his stomach. He was easily twice her size and towered over her like the trees of the forest. "If you wish to join our pack, little whelp, I suggest you show some respect." "Oh, I have no intention to join you, alpha." She spat on the ground before him. "I'm taking it!" She circled the wolf, grinning at him. It growled at her, lowering its massive form to draw on the earth's forces.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall, she snickered. He pounced, throwing his full weight upon her. She dodged it with the agility equal to that of a feline, and gave him a playful whip of her tail. "Come on, old man. Is that all you've got?" she teased. His pack cheered him on, urging him to kill her. From their shouts she gathered a little information about her opponent. His name was Baka and he is the only black timber wolf of his size and power. It would be a shame...
A gigantic paw lashed out at her, catching her off guard and sending her hurdling into a tree. His audience roared with applaud. Atreiyu's eyes were aglow with anger. She moved, quick as a fox, behind him and bit his tail with enough force to yank it off. He yelped in pain, but collected himself and pulled it out of her grip. She stood her ground with a limp tail hanging from her jaws. Only the vertebra of his tail remained attached to his body. She laughed at the sight, dropping the bloodied tail to the floor. His fans were silent. Anxiety and fear played in their eyes. Atreiyu screamed in agony as he wrapped his jaws around her middle. A low rumbling sounded in his throat. He's laughing at me? She snarled, scratching at his eyes. He let her go, staggering back - his right eye was bleeding and started to dry out immediately. She went in for a second pounce, but fell to the floor with a thump. The wolves howled with triumph. She was severely wounded and blood seemed to be gushing out everywhere. She struggled to get on her paws, but managed with the faintest of whimpers.
"See now, pup? No wolf can beat me!" "I am not a wolf," she snapped, throwing herself at the alpha in a last attempt to win him. He didn't expect it and fell to the ground with a bitten shoulder. Now that she could reach him, she clenched her jaws on his muzzle. His entire body squirmed in protest, but she held him tight until her fangs sank into his flesh and bone as far as they could. He whimpered and she dealt a blow to his head with her tail. He stood, growling in between bloody gurgles. They circled each other slowly, both limping and bleeding. Baka tilted his head into an odd position in order to keep his good eye on her. What happened next was a blur of black fur, red splatters and infuriating growls. Atreiyu felt her paw burn as he locked his jaws onto it. She laughed hysterically despite her excruciating pain. His move was careless - he left his neck exposed and her fangs came down hard on it. He ran deeper into the forest with Atreiyu dangling at his neck, but it was in vain.
A victorious howl rose from the trees, startling nearby birds and causing them to take flight and flee. It sent shivers down the backs of the other wolves. Then, only darkness remained as she slipped into unconsciousness.

ORION MALEDICT
The Cursed Orion sat high up in a tree, overlooking the scene. He knew none of the wolves would bother to look up, his scent was neither like a vampire nor like a wolf, and wolves became very careless when they were excited or angered. The battle before him was fierce and lasted not much longer than a couple of seconds, he was worried about Atreiyu, despite the fact that they weren't the best of companions he still began to like traveling with someone after all these years. Something had gone terribly wrong, Orion knew Atreiyu should have bested that alpha but she seemed distracted to him, fighting like her head was somewhere else, and when she and the alpha disappeared into the thick of the forest she was gravely wounded.
All around him he could see the wolves creeping closer to where they had last seen their leader. None dared to make a sound less they could hear something else to tell them what the outcome was. At the from of the pack was a large whitish wolf, the others seemed to give this one space. That must be the female alpha, he realized, he had to get to Atreiyu before the female alpha, if Atreiyu was alive he did not think she could survive another battle.
Moving through the trees as fast as he could while staying undetected, following Atreiyu's scent he reached a clearing, it was dark for the area was surrounded by large trees casting deep shadows. In the middle he saw the huge alpha, lying on the ground motionless and still, Atreiyu was standing over the dead creature. She was bleeding badly and looked like she could collapse at any moment. Orion moved closer to help her, but he could hear movement, the other wolves were closing in on them.

{ Atreiyu } The black void threatened to consume her. Then she saw Orion and smiled weakly as if she was happy to see him. She dragged herself towards him, whimpering. When she finally reached him, the howls of the approaching pack became evident. She tensed, glancing in their direction. She had to do something before... She bit down hard on Orion's hand without warning, keeping her teeth firmly in his cold flesh until he started to bleed. Wait, she told him sternly. You owe me, remember? She allowed the blood to trickle into her mouth, lapping at it eagerly. Letting go, she bowed to Orion and faced the oncoming wolves. They couldn't be far now. Orion's hand healed almost instantly and Atreiyu's wounds, too, started to heal. She closed her eyes to rest for a bit, opening them to the sound of paws breaking through pine needles and twigs.
"How dare you!" the white female snared. "It was a one on one match, she-wolf. I am the alpha now," Atreiyu neared her cautiously, coming to a halt in front of her and the rest of the pack. "The pack is mine now."
There was a brief moment of hesitation in the female's eyes and Atreiyu thought she would submit. However, that was wishful thinking. The white wolf launched her attack and met a sturdy black paw. It crashed into her temple and she hit the ground with a loud thump. Atreiyu growled at her. Why does she fight if she knows she will lose?
"Your pups need you! Stop fighting me!" Atreiyu was furious, but she didn't want to kill a mother.

ORION MALEDICT
The Cursed The female wolf was down on the ground, it seamed reluctant to step down from its position of power. Orion could see that Atreiyu was in no danger at all, that she was about to claim the pack for herself without even killing the alpha female. All of a sudden the pack started moving forward as one, they were surrounding Atreiyu while she was holding down the white wolf. The world went white...
Orion opened his eyes to find himself standing in a cobbled street. It was dark, the moon was shining brightly overhead. Ravenheart, the City where vampires and their pet humans reside. He looked down and saw his sword covered in blood, it was a special blade designed with an auto oiling mechanism to distribute vampire venom equally onto the blade, he designed this blade. He was an inventor of sorts, not very powerful political wise but valuable as an ally non the less. Many of his creations was frowned upon, the sword for instance, a good cut from it would mean death to a vampire for the venom halted a vampires regenerative abilities, that is why it was the only one of it's kind. Orion looked up, surrounding him was eight vampires in total, three vampires were laying in pools their own blood on the road, already dead or dying. The other five was sneering at Orion, Where is your honor! he screamed at them, he was outnumbered and wounded badly, only his sword keeping them at bay. No matter how he played it he would be caught and eventually executed by the council's orders, corruption was a common thing between these city walls... He howled with white rage at his assailants
His mind snapped back to reality, a booming howl was ringing in his ears, he was standing next to Atreiyu, breathing heavily, angry, he realized with horror that he had changed and that it was he that was howling. He was a beast, half wolf half humanoid, not much stronger that any of these creatures surrounding him. It was difficult to think when he was in this form, anger clouding his mind, he remember seeing something that reminded him of the past, something that angered him. Orion looked around and saw they were surrounded, that was it, he thought, these creatures were dishonoring natures rules. They were going to attack Attreiyu, or at least that's what he thought. He howled at them furiously, they didn't seem to know what he was and that gave him the edge.

{ Atreiyu } For a moment Atreiyu was taken aback by his sudden transformation, yet she felt safe by his side. She relaxed, grinning at the rest of the pack as if they were already hers. The white she-wolf jumped up and backed away, hiding shamefully behind the others. A young wolf whimpered submissively. She reminded Atreiyu of a human in the world of vampires - scared and insecure. The wolf bowed before them and Atreiyu raised her muzzle, smiling victoriously. One after the other the rest of the pack inclined their brows to her and Orion. The white she-wolf was the last to submit defeat, but she did so nonetheless.
Thank you, she whispered towards Orion so that only he could hear. Her voice was filled with true appreciation. She knew that, without him, they would have advanced on her and undoubtedly feed on her carcass in the end. The wolf was only as strong as their teamwork.
She gave a step back, inhaling the chilly air and letting out a howl to haunt the starry skies.
[So sorry for the short post!]

ORION MALEDICT
The Cursed
Orion was panting heavily, all around him were wolves watching his every move, frightened, and curious as is their nature. They had bowed one by one and he knew what this meant, all of them followed Atreiyu now, she is their pack leader now. His anger wasn't siphoning away as it always did after his transformation, Orion looked round searching for any hint of a challenge in their eyes, when he met none he roared at them in frustration.
This wasn't him at all, there was no reason for him to be angry any more but something was bothering him, tugging at the strings of his mind, but his clouded mind returned no sensible thought. He turned, heading deeper into the forest, pushing a few wolves out of his way in one movement started running. Branches of the undergrowth slapping and scratching at his face, leaving deep red scratches, it did not matter, all that mattered was whatever it was that was bothering him. He needed to know what it was.

{ Atreiyu } Atreiyu's eyes stretched wide and she leaped on after Orion, struggling to catch up with him as she was accustomed to less dense environments. She felt like yelling out to him, scolding him for running away, but there was something about his behavior that puzzled and intrigued her.
"Come, but travel at a distance," she ordered her new pack. She felt them pursuing her, moving in some formation that made her feel powerful - as if riding out to war, only this one she was a bit more experienced and capable of protecting them. She could sense their thoughts. These were thoughts of acceptance and a few of admiration and even less hinted at hostility. She smiled to herself because of this, staying hot on her friend's trail.

ORION MALEDICT
The Cursed
He reached a cliff, overlooking a forest, trees as far as the eye can see. Far behind him the desert and in the distant moonlight, a huge shadow could be seen - Ravenheart. He longed to go back, and at the same time he didn't. He had experienced company for the first time in decades and it made him realize how much he misses it. Soon all that will change again, for he knew he couldn't stay with the pack. Atreiyu might ask of him to stay, but it wasn't his place.
In the distance behind him branches snapped, someone was following. He turned and roared at the sound. Leaves flying about in the air, clouds filling up in the sky, temporarily flooding the lands in darkness. Strange as it was he found it easier to think in his wolf form, easier than before. Maybe he was becoming attuned to it. No... I can't stay like this forever, it will be unfair to ask of Atreiyu to tug me along, in a group where I don't belong.
Orion knew little of the forest down below, it was the Eastern Territories, a strange and uncommon place for vampires. Then that is where I shall go. He looked back once more to the noise behind him, almost upon him now, and whispered, The Badlands belong to you now my friend, thank you for your company, you have taught me a great deal about myself. Perhaps one day we shall meet again... With that, he jumped.
