If Riley were a different kind of woman, that sentiment would have elicited a long, and drawn out awwww, from her. Instead, she just silently melted, a pleased expression gracing her face. It was only a little bit dopey. Only a little.

She slid her fingers into the claws that held her hand, and searched for the other hand, pulling it towards her and around her waist. Then she rested forward against the plague doctor, settling her head down gently on it's shoulder.

Oh. She whispered, reveling in how amusing it felt to take the submissive role in their embrace. Well. You are correct, my darling. She whispered. This is very appropriate.

"It is a different type of atmosphere than one might find in Amityville, so I thought it might... be nice, perhaps. And lift your spirits, somewhat. Because you are too marvelous to think that you are not marvelous for even one moment." It opened its beak in a somewhat bashful smile.

"I really would commit violence for you, you know," it added. "For what it is worth."

Riley let out a long, soft sigh of content, that turned into something close to a whimper, if she had the ability to make such a sound in her mind. You are not playing fair. Her voice remained in whisper, hoarse with emotion despite not using a throat to speak with. One of her hands left its claws, and reached up to grasp Malodore's new robes, clutching them with fingers that tightened in a sense of desperation. Malodore, you.. make me feel..

Wordlessly, she tried to emit the swell of emotions that made her eyes sting with tears when it spoke to her that way. I don't know how to say it. I don't even know how to feel it. It scares me so much, but I long for it every moment. She closed her eyes, and buried her face into its robes. Her last words were even quieter than her whispers - barely heard in Malodore's mind, and in the voice that it rarely heard from her - the softer, more childish voice, that she had never truly explained.

I love you.

"Am I not?" it said, calmly, though there was a flicker of teasing in its tone. "It is marked as being sacred to lovers, and you are more than my love: you are my life. Sadly, there is no walk sacred to those who are each others' life, so this will have to do. It is a pleasant pathway, at least."

It leaned forward and bumped its beak against the top of her head, nuzzling at the softer flesh at the base of one of the side tentacles. Ti amo, Aen'ryllis. Oh, how it liked using her true name, soft and secret from the depths of its mind - not too much, never casually. Always treasured.

There was nothing left to say that could come close to how it made her feel. Her breath came ragged and uneven once she heard her name, but otherwise she fell silent, unable to think straight; so flooded with emotion that words were an impossibility. She took in a hard breath, and it came out in a stutter of air. Her body pressed hard against the plague doctor, arms finally wrapping solidly around it's waist, clinging to it in a sudden embrace.

The only thing that kept her from floating away was the feel of it in her arms, holding her down on solid ground. She felt her heart, her very essence shifting, just slightly, until it clicked back into place by it's side, and refused to allow itself to detach again, for the rest of her life. This was where she would stay. Even if they could not be together physically, and a thousand miles or an entire world stood between them, she knew she would remain here, in this one moment in time; hidden under the vines, with the gentle ebb and flow of water underneath the bridge at their feet, and she, clung to her plague doctor, for the rest of her life.

Malodore closed its eyes and held her; in the absence of vision, other senses sharpened. It could hear the soft lap of water around and under them, the whisper of leaves and petals on the wind (scented, ever so slightly, with flowers). A distant chime came from a far-off pavilion, and while it could hear others talking, they were far enough away that their words blended together and became indistinguishable.

Her warmth was all-encompassing, her weight reassuring; it could feel the steady thrum of her heartbeat and the ebb and flow of her emotions as she calmed. The plague doctor simply was, and it had the oddest sensation that, in this single moment, the world was turning around the two of them rather than around any other axis.

It sighed, the sound soft and gentle, a wash of cool breath against her skin.

The two stood there, wrapped up in each others arms, and in each others world, for an unmeasurable amount of time. Eventually, the light had started to dip, and Riley lifted her head, a very peaceful look on her face.

I was just thinking. She murmured quietly. If they ever let us back here again. This would be a lovely place for us to have our bonding ceremony. She didn't know if she could call it a wedding, exactly. It wasn't a religious ceremony, but it was a very important one. Bonding seemed much more fitting.

"Hmm... it would be lovely, but I am afraid if we hold it here, I may be forced to become rowdy and raucous." Malodore spoke the words with a calm that belayed the prickle of playful, low-grade wickedness that emanated from it. "Besides, I fully intend on inviting G."

A pause.

"I take it back. We should have it here."

One of Riley's eyebrows rose as Malodore started to talk about being rowdy, but both of them shot up when it mentioned G. The final product of it's train of thought had her laughing; a pure, free sounding laugh, that came from somewhere previously hidden. Her head dropped back, neck exposed as she let her laughter out. Well, She barely managed as the chuckled started to die out, I'm glad we have one thing settled, then. Or two, since you've already started on the guest list I suppose. Planning anything felt productive, and eased Riley's worries just a little more.

Malodore chuckled. "Oh, a guest list, is it? We'll need quite a long sheet of paper for that, though I don't intend to invite the enter student population..." It started moving again, gently guiding Riley along to the next pavilion along the series of bridges. This one was the source of the chiming sound it had heard earlier; the eaves were edged with tiny metal tubes of varying lengths, that spun and waved in the wind. Every breath of air was constant music.

It was hard to believe that the spot could get any more magical, until Malodore managed to prove her wrong by leading her further down, to listen to the chimes that sang for them. She'd never heard such sound before, with it's gentle tickling pitch, and it amused her greatly.

No. I'd rather that list remain relatively personal, as well. She chuckled, patting it's claws gently before stretching as far as she could, her fingers outstretched to try and touch one of the metal tubes as it hung high above her head.

Malodore reached up a claw and ran it along a chiming row; the bloodmetal seemed quite an effective striker. "They do have charming devices here, don't they? Perhaps we should copy them. Amityville could use a few places devoted to the calming arts."

It then canted its head in her direction. "Who would you invite?"

Riley simply nodded her head in agreement, and chimed the closest tube, a single ringing sound coming out of hers that echoed away soon after. When her hand came down, Malodore's question made her think.

Jericho. She started out instantly. And Christof. Shehk. Junko. Sammy. Xiu. Bul. Lizzy. Ahhh.. Her hand rose up and rubbed her temples. This is a decision best left for a time when I can sit down and write. Trying to make sure I do not miss anyone is giving me a bit of a headache.

Malodore chuckled. "Si, that is probably best. Do not trouble yourself overmuch, mia cara. There will be time for such things later." It reached up again and brushed a descending scale out of the chimes. "According to Calder's teen scream magazines, there are many aspects to be considered for a ceremony of mating - guests, food, a cake, flowers, clothing... it all seems calculated to force one to spend as many seeds as possible, to be quite honest."

I admit I like a lavish party as much as the next demon might, but..

One particular word caught Riley's attention suddenly, as she stopped, thought about it, and her eyes glimmered with a dangerously happy glow.

Did you say, ah, cake?
