"But you were doing so well..." Thackery said with a frown. "Okay. How about this. I won't tell you what to do for the rest of the time here if you just do the last turn."
This deal seemed to appeal to the wolf...or the tone the Cerberus was using happened to encourage him, more likely. He took a few steps, making a huge show of his turning.

Thackery was patient, saying nothing to prevent the wolf from suddenly deciding to stop again. And this time it paid off - they stood at the spot they'd stood moments before, indicating that the final turn was complete.
