Tybalt was on the verge of passing out again. He still felt sick and the room hadn't gone past spin mode yet, but still, somehow, he manage to stay conscious. He just didn't want to give in, no matter how tired he was. He wanted to get out and get back to where the others were. Maybe even tell them to avoid this particular area, lest they experience the same hell he just had. Hell, he'd be happy with just getting out of here first.

Let this be a reminder, stupid black dog, don't walk through unknown doors--no matter how curious you are.

A lesson he'd remember! ....For maybe as long as it would take him to get over his queasiness and rid himself of his headache.

Trying to stand again, he used the wall to brace him self. Shuffling his feet forward before one foot connected with one of the stone slabs.

Ah good. He found the stairs. Now if he could survive the climb back up, without falling down and killing himself, he was home free!

Thankfully, the farther he retreated, the less the Fear affected him. With each step upwards, he could feel his strength returning and his head clearing. Pretty soon, he could even make out the murals on the walls he had passed by earlier.

"Thank Jack..." He was getting out of here and he was NEVER coming back here. Not if he had any choice in the matter.

Images of the bloodied, outstretched hands flickered into her mind again. Was this vision she was seeing a reality? She had been doubtful of the Four clan's motives even before she came, but what she was seeing was only adding towards her feelings of ambiguity.

The feeling of her Fear being sapped away jolted her back into reality. She had to keep climbing ...

Edel found that she had to stop for a break again, her head was spinning in circles making it impossible for her to carry on without throwing up. She shut her eyes and clutched her head, hoping that the dizziness would stop. But all she could her was a buzzing noise inside her head that was getting louder and louder and louder until --

-- she could hear the screams. Her mind flashed back to the wooden cages and its captives. Who were they? And what were the horsemen doing to them? Killing them? Harvesting their Fear like cattle.

Cattle. She had heard that word being used by them before.

Still stuck and unable to bring herself to move, her eyes drifted towards the center of the room again. There it was, the flash of the runes glowing red once more. Had one of the captive just died to give what this seemed to be like – a sudden flash of Fear? The colour red would explain it all then ....

The effect of the room was starting to show ... the ghoul was beginning to lose her coherence in her thoughts.

She was starting to feel very, very sleepy ... oh this was nice, at least the dizziness and the screaming had stopped. So very peaceful ...

Closing his eye, he breathed in a few more times, trying to ignore the agonizing pain this fear was causing him. This time around, he did not end up slipping away. Instead, his focus came together with the one goal to escape this place alive. Opening his eye once again with a strong sense of determination, he gritted his teeth and forced himself back to his feet. Now came the harder part.

With as much might as he could muster, he turned himself away from the glyphs and began to move away towards the exit. He could feel the runes still trying to suck him in. They were grasping at every last fiber of his being, trying to pull him into oblivion. It hurt. It was exhausting. And a few times, he faltered in his step as he moved. However, little by little, he managed to bring himself further away from the dreaded glyphs in the alcove.

Closing his eye, he forced himself through until he finally managed to break free of the gravitating pull of the glyphs. When he did, he collapsed to the ground in exhaustion. The painful buzzing and the sensation as a whole was slowly fading from him, but his strength wasn't returning just yet. Whatever that room was, it was no good. Perhaps he could see if some of the others students knew anything of it later on. If not, he was not going to chance coming back into this place to investigate further. He felt like he had barely made it out alive this time. Chancing it once more was not a wise thing to do.

Breathing heavily, he remained on the ground for some time. When he felt some of his strength come back, he shakily stood back to his feet so he could leave.

All her worries and questions were beginning to fade away. It was funny she even had them in the first place – she could feel it now, her purpose was here, protecting the Clan. She would be a part of this room, a part of this great cause, guarding this place while her comrades marched into victory.

Her eyelids flew open and she realised she was back in herself, her body still in torment as the room continued to sap her Fear away. No no no no .... she had to pull herself together and get out of here.

She jerked to a stop. There it was again, the screaming of those in pain and agony. She had no emotion left within her to feel anything for them ... no pity, no anger, no indignation, no feelings of upset. But oh ... it would be nice if those would just fade away ...

Mitzi finally left the ladder to the observation point, having just finished her attempt at climbing it for the day. As much as she found the whole experience terrifying, it did seem that after each time she tried to climb up, her fear of heights had a little bit less of a hold on her.

Something seemed off, though, and as she was about to head off she took one last look around. That was when she saw it, a little ways away, the strange doorway in the tree. She was certain that had not been there the day before, and the slight discomfort she felt was definitely emanating from there. Her curiosity piqued, and just as happy to put off the high climb a little longer, she went over to explore it.

The feeling of discomfort increased as she started down the steps, and she was quite certain now that it was coming from whatever lay before her. She also became more and more certain that this was not a place she was supposed to be, and she considered turning back, but something else drew her forward. Whatever was down here, she wanted to know about it, and perhaps the fact that she was almost certainly not supposed to know about it made it that much more important that she see.

Slowly she started noticing the carvings on the walls. Originally she didn't think too much of them, having seen several similar paintings around the War village, but the further she went the more obvious and detailed they became. They were quite definitely depicting Horsemen attacking, hurting, and killing humans. The discomfort she felt in the pit of her stomach was no longer just coming from the odd Fear. There was definitely something wrong here.

And then one particular carving caught her eye, of several Horsemen dismembering a human, and she flashed back to the day in the maul when Imryn had told her how she had died at the Hunters' hands during the Trial of Death. For an instant she flashed to seeing the ghost there instead, and then she felt actively sick. Surely though, surely these were just images. Decorations. They couldn't really mean anything... could they? She had spent the time since the Trials appreciating that the Four Clans were trying to prepare them to face the Hunters, but if the Horsemen really approved of these sorts of things, she wasn't sure she liked them any better.

And then she reached the end of the tunnel, and a sudden wave of the twisted Fear caused her to grab the wall to keep from falling over. The room swam around her as she suddenly felt unable to move any further forward, the noise in her ears rising from a buzzing almost to something intelligible, as if someone was crying out in pain? That didn't make any sense, she was sure she couldn't see anyone else here. As things steadied, she looked forward, still unable to advance, and saw something ahead of her, some sort of weird symbol on the ground, that seemed to be the source of whatever this strange Fear was.

And then, as if to add to the weird sounds she heard, visions flickered in front of her eyes. She thought she could see Horsemen walking through the room, and cages, with... no, that couldn't be humans inside them, like in the paintings, like in the wall carvings. But it certainly looked like it.

She was fading away. And for the second time in that room, she had collapsed, nearly giving way to dissipation and being absorbed into the barrier that surrounded the room. Whatever was left of her will had managed to pull her back into reality and give her the hope that she was going to make it back out alive – the door was just up ahead. Now if she would just push ...

The images continued, and she had to watch as the figures in the cages reached out, their arms covered in blood. She could only imagine what the rest of them looked like, obscured by the cages as they were. The sounds she heard continued, not synced at all with the flashes of visions, but they seemed to match well enough.

Edel fell to her knees as she stumbled out of the door, her head still swimming around as she tried to regain her balance and take in some air. Just what on earth was that?

It was some time before the ghoul found the strength to get back up and leave. Whatever she saw and experienced in that room ... she would have to give thought to it and analyse it later. For now, she would prefer it if she took a rest and got some sleep.

And then, finally, it all started to fade. Everything started to fade, even her own senses, even the horror at what she had seen, and what she had heard. This was right, she would become part of the Clan, and then forever more she would guard over it...

With a jolt she suddenly fell back into her body, and actually found herself one step closer to the glowing symbol, and her body looked almost see-through, as though she had begun to dissipate. Somehow she managed to reverse that step, and then one more, but that was as far as she could manage, the pull too great.
