Alex stopped and turned around, confusion in his eyes as he frowned at the purple haired reaper ghoul. Her tone of voice when she said what she did was speaking volumes, but Alex was still having a hard time believing it.
"You...You already saw him? Where?" that was Alex's most pressing concern at the moment. Not that Mitzi had done exactly what he had told her not to do, but just wanting to know where he could find the mantodae. It was so easy to get separated in all of this wilderness, and he worried (likely unnecessarily) about the other boil almost constantly on this Isle of War. It was clearly a dangerous place, if the feathers scattered about the room or the gouges in the floors were any indication.

"It was earlier. I got caught by one of the spear-throwers on an obstacle course, and wasn't going to be able to get free without some nasty cuts." She glanced down at the floor even as she brushed her fingers against a bandage on her arm; she'd started to try. "He was running the same course, and he helped me get free. The whole thing... didn't go well." The mantodae had been a lot of help, she was more referring to everything else. Her failed attempt to apologize, the way he had gotten trapped trying to help her, and how he had run off absolutely as fast as he could once he had the chance.

Ah, so Yin had been at the obstacle course! Well, Alex could maybe have a look for him there, but it would probably still be a better plan to go to the dorms and just wait for him instead. The weremantis had to sleep sometime, even if he did seem to have endless amounts of energy.
And then there was the other matter that was suddenly stomping around in Alex's head, and that was that Mitzi was telling him that her encounter with Yin had not gone very well. "Ya well...I did tell you that would probably happen." He shrugged, still not sure if he could really explain it to the ghoul in ways that she might understand. He reached up to rub at the back of his neck, unsure now what to say.
"But he uh..he did stop and help you. That's a good sign, I guess. He could have just left you there, right?" He grinned, half teasing, half serious.
"Come on, it takes me forever to get anywhere around here. Worse then usual. We better get going."

Mitzi sighed. "Yeah, I guess, if you think so." She actually had the cut because based on what Alex had said before, she had sort of expected the weremantis to do leave her. But she wasn't at all sure if she'd just made things worse after that.
And then Alex wanted to get going, so she shrugged it off for now. There wasn't anything more she could do, it seemed, and so she wasn't going to dwell on it for now. "Right, the center of the village is this way..." She took the lead as soon as they were back out on the main path, heading towards parts more well known.
