Anita's eyes were wide during the explanation. It seemed like the wedding scene was really serious business but she had to wonder why someone would set their wedding planner up with something like that and why the chameleon was such a big deal. For pets, she had always read that reptiles weren't affectionate creatures and probably didn't care who was feeding or caring for them, unlike fluffier sorts like dogs. That thought made her glance at Cruz briefly -- at least one reptile seemed affectionate but she wasn't sure how much it counted when mixed with something as jolly and joyous as the festive mistletoe.
She leaned forward, entranced by the tale, and rested a hand on her cheek when it came to the reveal -- the dead chameleon. "Wooah..." she murmured quietly, allowing Axel to finish the story before commenting further. "Well that's certainly one way to do it. I wonder what other Raevans were 'accidents'..." Anita used that term lightly, since gaining guardianship of a Raevan itself was never as accidental as, say, pregnancy. Everyone knew what they were getting into -- they signed up for it! -- but all the same, the prospect of the soul capture was quite daunting and she imagined many of the current guardians had been in boats similar to Axel's and her own.
Come to think of it, she never did ask how Anastacia's soul had been chosen.
Finally, his curiosity seemed to be overwhelming. There were so many terms in this meeting he didn't understand and all of it, somehow, related back to Lab; his place of birth and many others. What he didn't understand most was the current topic: that of a soul. Resting his hands on the table edge, Cruz propped himself up so he was looming over both females and looked between them an intense emerald gaze.
"What is a soul?"
Oh boy. Here it was. Story time, finally, and Cruz would come to understand his origins. Anita, whether wrongly or not, likened this explanation in similar fashion to The Birds & The Bees. It was clumsy, confusing, and she could only imagine how awkward it was for a young Raevan to come to understand. Still, honesty was the best policy. She just hoped he was ready for this...
"Uh... W-well, a soul is -- it's like energy. It's energy that makes me "me", what makes Axel herself and what makes you "you"." Now that she had begun, Cruz seemed enraptured, eyes locked on his guardian as he slowly, ever so slowly, lowered himself back down to his seat. "Everything alive's got a soul. Or, um... well, maybe everything does. It's hard to say. With um -- with Raevans, you guys are special. Your souls are gifts from other things. A chameleon gave its soul to Axel so a new Raevan could be born."
"Gave... accidentally?" Damn, he was sharper than she gave him credit for sometimes.
Biting her lip, she glanced to Axel, then back at Cruz. "...Yes."
Frowning slightly, Cruz crinkled his brow in thought. "My soul... c-crocko--"
"Crocodile. Yeah, I'm... I'm not sure. The croc who gave you your soul took the bottle from me. I think maybe it knew what was going on, somehow. It was only an accident because I wasn't intending a croc soul for you."
It seemed as though Cruz was having difficulty understanding as he drew a single clawed finger to his lip and tapped it lightly, eyes wandering to the floor. There was a pause of silence which made Anita uncomfortable and she gripped the table tightly with one hand before he perked up and gave a sly grin. "Was it beautiful like Axel's?"
Anita sighed with relief so quickly it came out as a strained laugh. "It was the best green I'd ever seen -- just like your rune."
The crocodile frei beamed at Anita, then their companion, and finally back at the picture of the other Raevan's soul.

“Not the most pleasant of experiences let me tell you, I’m quite certain the chameleon had it out for me.” Axel was as sure as anything about it, so maybe it served it right to have it’s soul taken and turned into a beautiful lady. Unless the decision came back to haunt her and her Raevan was going to annoy her to pieces. The thought sent her deeper into her brain as she wondered if souls came back in one form or the other in the Raevan. Cruz had a croc soul and looked quite the opposite of what she had in mind when she pictured a crocodile soul. This also had her wondering if maybe the souls weren’t accidents, it was an interesting thought process that was quickly disgarded as Cruz asked what a soul was.
It was cute watching Anita try to explain the concept of a soul to Cruz, Axel herself would be in her shoes and might have to explain such a thing to her own Raevan someday. She made mental notes to what Anita was explaining, watching Cruz’s reaction and then Anita’s. It looked like it was going pretty good, Anita did seem a bit nervous, but that was understandable. Axel almost smiled at the thought of seeing Anita try to explain the real Birds & Bees, now that was something even she dreaded! She could all too well remember her mother sitting down both her sister and herself and struggle to explain the ways of life. Her father had turned beet red beside his wife as the girls asked questions and such, and now to think she might someday have to do the same.
“I’m sure your soul was just as gorgeous as mine, especially if it looks anything like your rune.” Axell offered Cruz a smile, she was sure all souls were quite beautiful, so she reassured him in her own way. “I wonder what color’s she’ll be considering all the choices in my bottle.” A soft chuckle escaped her lips, if Cruz soul had been green, and he looked like his over all color was green she was indeed going to have quite the rainbow on her hands.

A light scoff left Anita's lips at Axel's mention of the chameleon 'having it out for her'. She wasn't sure how a chameleon could possibly do that, never having owned or been in close proximity to one, but she supposed if they were as mischievous as snakes or even the crocodile she encountered then maybe she could sympathize.
With her charge's reaction as such, Anita sighed and relaxed, letting herself smile naturally again. She rested back against the chair with one arm hanging back over the side and the other resting comfortably on the table. Beside her, Cruz's attention turned to Axel and he beamed at her. If he had a tail, it would surely be wagging based on his expression and the light his rune was emitting. Her question was one he was curious about and he gave some consideration, then turned to Anita with bright, attentive eyes.
"What colors Neeta has seen?" he drew a hand to his chest and rested it flatly.
Anita's brows raised before she realized what he meant. "What colors have I seen on Raevans?" He nodded quickly. "Let's see... Black and purple for Anya, Eiry's kind of minty but he's the only other green one I'm aware of, um..." she rested a hand under her chin and propped her head up as she leaned forward while Cruz's expression brightened at the mention of both the spider and will-o-wisp, "Black and red... I think there's two like that. I saw one with lots of Autumn colors once. All the blue on Zurine, of course." Cruz's expression softened into a stark fondness at the icy frei's name and he gently clutched the fabric of his shirt. "Uuum -- oh, LuLu's all kinds of colors, you haven't met her. Luka was all white and a little... brown, I guess? Kinda like clay. Prajna's a bunch of refs--" a similar reaction occurred to the star's name, a grin appearing and the grip on his shirt tightening closer to his heart "--and Zul... Zul's all kinds of colors."
"Neeta not see souls?"
She shook her head. "Nah, never did. So I can't say where they got their colors from. I think you're right, though, Axel -- you've got a veritable rainbow on your hands. At least you know they won't be plain looking," she winked with a grin, only to be interrupted by her cell vibrating noisily again. "Ugh. Pushy."
Cruz frowned at it when she pulled it out and checked the message. It was a simple 'hurry, please' from her boss. It must have been a busy day with preorders, or else a new game came out that she had forgotten. "Well, looks like we gotta jet," she shrugged, returning the phone to her pocket before fishing for her wallet and grabbing a twenty -- enough for her meal and a tip. "Don't be afraid to give that phone a ring, but we should probably exchange cell numbers 'cause the one on the call sheet's for the apartment. You wanna do that now or should we save it for another time?" she smiled to Axel, hand on the pocket her phone was nestled in as she kept the other on the back of the chair and was half stood up.
Honestly, she was looking for any excuse to stay but if her boss was getting desperate it was better for her to head out sooner rather than later.

The planner was probably just as interested in Anita’s words then Cruz, all the souls sounded very cool. She was also curious about Luka’s soul, and she could definitely see how all the colors affected the Raevans she’d seen thus far. Very cool. “I think all the Raevans I’ve met thus far have been very pretty, though it’s always exciting to know I might get a little burst of color.” Axel chuckled. “I'm kinda hoping that will be the case, else I wouldn’t have kept the soul truthfully.” She’d seen some brown chameleons, and if her soul had been such a color she would not have hesitated to throw it out for sure!
Fishing out her cell phone Axel began typing in Anita’s name for a new entry. “Nah, give it to me now it’ll be easier. Plus, I’ll give you a quick call once she’s born.” She waited until Anita had given her number, entered it and then gave out her own digits. Once that was done she grabbed her bag and took out her own money, by now the waiter had come around quickly with their bills and left it on the table. Axel picked up the paper and gave the final amount a glance so she could pay and offer a tip. “Lunch is on me, no worries.” She stretched a bit to grab the money Anita had left on the table and sat up to hand it back to her offering her a smile.
“I had a really wonderful time meeting both of you.” Axel turned to give Cruz a smile. “I promise to give you a call as quickly as I can once she’s born.” She rolled the phone into her other hand, if she wanted to remember to call Zeke after this for her update she needed to keep it in her hands. “I hope to see you guys soon!” Axel wasn’t really sure where they stood on hugs but decided to offer Cruz the first hug and then moved around the table to give Anita a squeeze as well. “Next time, we’ll have much more time.” She was going to walk out to the parking lot with them, say her last goodbyes and head on home.
