Jordan couldn't help a small, rueful smile. "Well," he said, "I guess now we've established that we're all blaming ourselves and have no idea what to do about it."He took a careful breath. "Still - still friends, anyway?" he asked, and winced at how stupid that sounded, childish and desperate.

Wash strode out of the tent, cookie jar in hand and glazed smile plastered on his face when- He nearly ran right into the three hunters chatting outside. Awkward? Possibly, for someone who was not high on life. As it was, he blithely interrupted what appeared to be a very heart-to-heart conversation, shoving his baked bounty under the noises of the three men. "No use hashing it out on an empty stomach, guys. Eat a little somethin', it will make you feel better!" After waiting a moment to give them a chance to decide to cookie or not to cookie, he strolled off into the sunset.

Harrison took a cookie and stared at his feet. "Thanks," he said, and taking a bite, mumbled around the crumbly sugar, "We're good." After swallowing, he added, "...Really good. Hey, these are...did Julie bake these?" He scarfed down the rest before anyone could stop him.
His eyes took on a sort of sparkling glean, threatening to tear up.
"Wow. I just...I just want you two to know that you're like, my best pals except for Candace and I just don't want anything to happen and I don't know what I'd-" sniff, "do without either of you guys and...and..." he sucked the sugar off his fingers absently. "...were there more of these?"

Yes. Friends. Yes. Please.
His thoughts seized the comment as if it was a lifeline. He didn't know how any of this relationship s**t would go, but he realised right then and there that he needed both of them and in this mission right here and now he just needed to know where his friends were.
He gave Jordan a nod and a flighty glance. "Yes."
And then there were cookies. Rep ******** KNEW the cookies weren't to be trusted. He knew there was something about them, he'd seen Michael and a few others acting high as kites earlier and put it down to the things. But there was a difference between a cookie in words and a cookie in his ******** hand.
A delicious sugary cookie when he hadn't eaten in hours and hadn't eaten sugar in even longer.
He gave it a very intense stare. And then looked to Harrison, seeming almost dazed by his sudden change in attitude but not quite able to give it his full attention as part of his thoughts demanded confection.
It was almost impossible to ignore the thing.

The agreement, at least, was a relief. They could figure out the rest of it later. With the weight of that worry off his shoulders for the time being, Jordan accepted the cookie handed to him without really thinking about it, and took a bite.
Then the rest of his brain caught up with him. "Oh, crap," he said, but couldn't sustain any lingering dismay, because the cookie was already at work. "I guess she figured the formula out," he said, feeling almost giddy.

"Yeah," Harrison agreed, "...almost, I think this one was almost better. I really like Julie. The rice krispy wasn't bad either and I decided I wasn't gonna eat any more of these but I must have forgot about how good they were. She's just so nice to all of us. She knitted my shirt."

Really when it came down to it, there was no way he could resist the cookie, he was just postponing the inevitable. The logic followed he was going to die anyway most likely, and he might as well die with the lingering memory of sugar with him. Everything else until this dilemma was resolved was of secondary importance.
It took him just under a minute to eat the whole thing. It was ******** amazing how sugar seemed to ease all wounds. The lingering weight of anxiety and upset faded neatly away and he found himself in a cosy bubble of contentment. They were probably going to die? Great! That was wonderful.
He nodded to himself. "I hate fighting you guys. You two are my best ******** friends okay." he gave them a grave nod. "And dude! I wanted to ask about the shirt, I can't for the ******** life of me think why I didn't. Julie's not so bad. Anyone who ******** makes cookies is good in my book."
The smile wouldn't go away and he..didn't actually care.

"It is better, I'm not sure why I wasn't going to have any. I feel a lot better." Really, why hadn't he had one before? He'd felt terrible, and now he didn't. Jordan grinned at Rep and Harrison. "I'm glad we're okay. I'm glad you're okay, you guys are awesome and I like you both a whole lot."
Ferros groaned, then started laughing.
"Ferros is being weird," Jordan said. Then he remembered that he should really make sure they were at full strength. "Hey, I should get bandages. We killed, like, three scorpions out there," he told the other two.

"Yeah, she's just- really good at making things." Harrison looked impressed. "Wow, three scorpions? Holy s**t! You're just- you're the best badguy killing machine ever. Yes, you should definitely get bandaids. I killed a bug. There are a lot of bugs here. I haven't gotten any bandages either. I like you too."
Harrison fidgeted. Then he leaped forward and hugged Jordan really tight.

He looked delighted at the compliments and nodded. "I killed.." he gave up on trying to count them, counting didn't matter when he felt this content. "Lots!" Yep, that'd do nicely. "And both of you are so ******** tough and handsome!" he bundled his hands to his chest and gave them a glowing admiring look.
As Harrison hugged Jordan there was no other logical thing in his mind to do but join in.
Which he did with a lazy sigh. "Lets never fall out again."

Group hugs suddenly made a lot more sense. "We're awesome," Jordan said contentedly. Okay, he'd said that already, but there really wasn't any other word that covered it. It was too hot out here to stay hugged for too long, but it was a nice hug. "We should do this later."
His shoulder twinged, reminding him again about band-aids. Harrison had said it was a good idea too. Made sense. "Let's get bandages so we can kill more bugs," Jordan suggested brightly.

Yes, more hugging. When they got back. Because they would definitely get back, Harrison suddenly felt really good and confident about that. Man, it had been so long since he had just a really nice hug like this, and he had never had a hug on a mission.
Rep also had really, really nice arms.
Harrison gave them both a parting squeeze.
"Okay. Bandaids. Oh. ...And we should do something nice for Julie because she is definitely our friend too and we made her worry."

He more than concurred that this would need to be more frequent, he had no idea why they didn't do this more often, it just didn't make sense not to. "Yeah, I ******** demand more hugs later you guys." he nuzzled a cheek against each of them in turn and grinned as he let go, senses still giddy from the whole thing, and of course whatever was in the cookies.
"But..yep. Bandaids. I've had soooo many bandaids today. More sound awesome. I hope they have those like pokemon ones. Like Allan had. I got a Charmander last time! Charmander was my favourite." Unfortunately the cookies suspended the better judgement that said knowing pokemon names probably wasn't something that bought you cred. But he was so happy, he wanted to share this fact with his friends.
He nodded eagerly. "Yes. Julie. We made her sad. Maybe a hug will cheer her up too? "

"I bet she'd like a hug anyway," Jordan said, and nodded. Before he turned to head back into the infirmary tent, though, he pointed at Rep. "Charmander was the best starter anyway."
