His laugh threw her a little bit, but she didn't show it and kept her face straight and her body composed as she gently kicked the ground again, keeping the momentum of her swings going. He didn't seem to be angry or irritated at her comments, nor overly eager to tell her she was wrong and enforce his ideals on her instead. This wasn't at all like Europa had made out encounters with the Dark Moon Court to be. She was actually quite enjoying the conversation. Eos had never accused him of murder, and her forehead furrowed a little when he suggested that she had. She was glad that he hadn't - enjoying the company of a murderer might have put a bit of a foot in her conscience - but his comments on energy draining were what brought the wry smile to her face. She shook her head, before lifting it to look him in the eye, "How do you know it doesn't hurt? Have you ever been drained?" She had, and if the sheer terror of the experience leaving a mental scar wasn't bad enough, she'd had the mother of all hangovers for the following few days. "Sure, it doesn't kill you. But I can say from experience that it isn't as harmless as you're making it out to be." Perhaps there could be a way to harvest energy - willing volunteers were an option. But she certainly hadn't been willing, and a slight shiver ran down her spine as the memory briefly flashed across her mind. Now this was more like it. The frown returned to Eos' face as he stated his opinion and stance, fading more to a look of appreciation as he set out a very clear and well-thought out arguement. She wasn't sure what she'd think - Leon seemed to think that they weren't evil, but that their way of conducting themselves could do with a lot of improvement. Would she think the same? She'd be s**t-scared, she knew that much. As for the justice he was after, that was an area she was more shady on. "You make a fair point," she nodded, not wanting to ignore his impressive speech. "I think I'm still a bit behind on all of this. What is it the Mirror Senshi are fighting for? You're speaking of justice and kingdoms, but you came from a mirror. I don't quite...understand it all, to be honest." She was aware that there'd be some bias in his answer, but that was to be expected. She hoped that for the most part he'd state their intentions in a logical, informative manner.

While listening to Eos, a part of Remarque wondered how much he’d been lying. How much was he bending the truth? Having your energy drained…well, it probably didn’t tickle, he could admit that much. It wasn’t like anyone had ever come up to him and begged that he sap some energy, but he’d always attributed whatever screams to that of fear more so than pain. He’d always assumed the experience to be something akin of doing a hard day’s labor in only a few short seconds and sure, it sounded exhausting, but not necessarily painful.
There was, of course, the matter of throwing people into Mirror Space, never to be seen again, but that was a whole other can of worms. “Admittedly,” he said, pondering her last question, “I suppose a lot of this is still Ares’ war.”
He wondered, from Eos’ words, if she thought that he, like Ares, was from another universe. If he was, sometimes it was hard to feel it. His starseed was from the mirror, though beyond that, what was his relation to this other universe? Did he particularly care if they were wronged? It wasn’t him that had suffered. He had lived his whole life, here, on this earth, in this universe. “As I know from her, we’re fighting for the safety of this earth. For the safety of all planets. Whereas the world beyond the mirror suffered a great betrayal, here you suffer a different one. You are lead by a leader who has not shown her face. A leader who you cannot ask for guidance or help. A leader who cursed your would-be allies through the mirror and forced them to be your enemies.” He shrugged then, lacing his fingers together as he swung very slightly. “In many ways, we seek to save the white moon senshi. We would give you purpose, not unlike your present one. To save this Earth from the fate that has befallen so many planets before it. Many of you would see us only as enemies due to our alliances. But tell me.” He looked Eos in the eyes. “Would you respond well to anyone telling you that you’ve been lead astray? Our numbers are small enough as is, and the Negaverse was willing to accept us. I don’t necessarily agree with them, but to me, they are a necessity for survival. Far too many members of the white moon would have my head simply because I am different.”
Again, Remarque shrugged and leaned back. “Anyway, that’s my two cents on the matter. I guess I’m still trying to figure things out, too,” he said with a shrug. Whatever internal doubts or questions he might have had, he kept to himself and simply resumed swinging in the absence of speech.

Mirrorspace was a concept Eos had yet to come across, and so it didn't factor into her equations. Ares, however, was a name that had been mentioned, coupled with various obscenities and likenesses over the course of Europa's briefing. Sort of equating to General King Charonite (she still couldn't really believe he'd gone), she was the head honcho of the Black Moon Court. The head baddie, the final boss battle that they were all itching to get to. Remarque was being oddly quiet, but Eos merely watched the ground and allowed him to regress into his mind for a few moments. Perhaps she'd offended him? No, he didn't seem angry, more thoughtful. Whether that was a good or a bad thing remained to be seen. When he finally did speak up, the blonde looked to him with a curious expression, eyes wide and focussed on him. His start was a little shaky, but he built up momentum and was soon steaming forwards with no sign of stopping. The point he raised was an interesting once, and Eos found herself looking to her feet again as she herself regressed back into her mind. She wasn't sure how she felt about Serenity. Any information she'd received about the princess had only ever been very vague, and she'd never seen any evidence to prove she existed. She knew that there were senshi that fought for her, and senshi that fought with the firm belief that she was never coming back. As for Eos, well...she wasn't sure exactly where she stood. His point about his court being allies did seem a fair one, though - Europa had failed to explain exactly why there were senshi on the side of chaos in the first place. It seemed wrong, like the balance had been tipped. "Survival of the fittest," she added, to show her understanding and empathy with his situation. It wasn't an easy one to be in, and in all honesty she wasn't sure what choice she would have made had she been thrust into the same position. She sighed and finally looked up, her expression momentarily troubled before a smile spread across it as she kicked off for one large swing, lifting herself high into the air. She allowed the momentum to keep her swinging for a few cycles before slowing herself with her feet. "No one around here really seems to have a clue what's going on. I haven't decided who or what I'm fighting for yet, I just...I just know I have to."

Remarque watched her display, a tiny smile on his face as he continued nudging the ground with his feet to allow tiny swings. “I would think that makes you one of the wiser senshi, then. You’re not blinded by propaganda like the others are. I like that you’re not hiding behind some leader you’ve never met. At the end of the day,” he shrugged. “You have to fight for you. For what you believe in. Whatever they say, whatever anyone else says…at least you have yourself, your morals, and your loved ones. I don’t care what side you’re on, just as long as you fight for yourself. Not some queen who doesn’t show her face.”
His eyes drifted to the stars, and in a way he had to wonder if he was being hypocritical in his words. He wasn’t entirely fighting for himself, he was fighting for Ares. She had a cause, a goal—but was it his?
He hadn’t bonded with the woman enough to know her as anything other than the leader of the court he followed, and even then the last time he’d seen her was right after that battle in the Surrounding. She hadn’t necessarily lead them, but guided them—pushed them in a direction and let them loose on the world.
He was gathering energy for her, fighting for her—but where was she, sans haunting Mirror Space?
Curling his fingers around the chains of the swing, Remarque pondered this situation only briefly before dismissing the thoughts.
He had a leader. He had spoken with her and she had delivered a message and a goal to her court. Ares was not like the White Moon’s leader; she was more than just a myth.
And yet, something still gnawed at him from the back of his mind.

Wise? Eos frowned, watching Remarque closely for a few moments. She was a lot of things. Some people thought she was a quitter for diving out. She herself thought she was pretty damn brave for coming back. Leon called her stupid and childish, but he also often commented on how strong she was being after the past few months. Damian called her titch, Scottie had called her Adam, but she'd never, ever, ever been told she was wise before. It took her aback a little. She swallowed and looked away, giving a small shrug. "Stuff's happened recently, I've sort of come to accept that you don't take anything for granted. I'm fighting for me and my beliefs. Other people just let you down." It may have been restating what he just said, but as she pushed the words passed her lips she realised that she was truly confident in her words. She meant what she was saying, and she didn't give a ******** what anyone thought. Of course there were people she trusted, but that circle had gotten far far smaller in recent months and most certainly didn't extend to someone she'd only heard of as if they were a myth. Remarque fell silent, and after a few moments in her own mind Eos looked up again with a reassuring smile. "Are you okay?" He'd been doing a lot of talking, and although Eos was comfortable with silence she'd been quite enjoying the conversation.

Remarque’s eyes drifted over to the girl and he offered her another charming smile in response. He had learned to fake a smile a long time ago and while someone who knew him well might be able to call him out on it, it looked good enough to fool most strangers. “I’m fine,” he said in conclusion. “Just started thinking, myself. Can’t really say I’m the type of person who likes to sit back and let someone else call the shots for me, so I guess I was just doing a little thinking. It’s good to look at the big picture every now and then, it’ll knock you off of whatever high horse you thought you were riding on. But you don’t seem like a lot of the senshi I’ve bumped into.”
He waited until the swing lost momentum and stood, brushing himself off instinctively. “I appreciate a good chat versus just some exchanged blows. You might not be so inclined to change whatever course you’re already on, but you just remember—if ever anything in the White Moon seems fishy, if ever you’re facing doubts? Don’t forget about the Dark Mirror Senshi. We’re not as bad as they make us out to be, and at the end of the day we’re still just trying to protect what’s important to us and to get this battle—this war—off of this planet and away from everyone we care about. And if anyone says otherwise, they just never took the time to hear us out.”

Eos watched her feet, continuing to do so even as he spoke. He sounded almost as if he was doubting himself, but he quickly brought that around again and she wasn't entirely sure whether she'd just been mistaken. Either way, she assumed that being an eternal he'd thought long and hard about it and battled for a long time - she hadn't been expecting to cause a change of heart quite so easily. Heck, she hadn't even been trying to change his mind, she was just enjoying the conversation. He stood, presumably signalling that he should be leaving. Turning her blue eyes towards the sky the blonde wrinkled her nose, wondering briefly how much time had passed. It must be getting towards early morning, if it wasn't already. "Thanks. I think." She'd never been sure whether being told you weren't like others was a good or a bad thing - she supposed it depended on the context. Eos also stood, dusting off her skirt in an action to mimic his, shaking the pins and needles out of one of her feet before turning to face him with a smile. "Don't you forget about us White Moon Senshi either. We don't all dive in fists-first." She was glad that she'd run into Remarque tonight. Europa had the habit of leaving her with more questions than she'd had to start with, and the Black Moon Court had been a massive grey area that had been somewhat cleared tonight. As Remarque said, they seemed to believe they were fighting for good - whether they were or not was up in the air. As far as the blonde was concerned, you could never knock someone for fighting for what they believed in. After all, it was all they really had in the end. After a few moments of silence, Eos extended a gloved hand. "It was nice talking to you, Remarque. Maybe we'll see each other again?" Kyuseisha no Hikari ahhh this has been such a fun rp <3 we must do it again!

Remarque would not argue that this had been a good conversation, and it seemed like he had given himself a fair number of things to think about. It hadn’t been his intention, but somewhere in the conversation, something suddenly stopped making sense. It wasn’t the sort of thing he was going to talk about with someone else and—hell, for all he knew, he was just tired and not thinking normally.
Flashing Eos a smile, he nodded in agreement. Extending his hand, he took hers and gave a firm, almost friendly shake. “Sounds like a plan, you take care.” He gave a final shake and then dropped his hand, offering her a tiny plan before he turned away. He wasn’t necessarily in a rush to head home, but with as late as it had gotten, he couldn’t really afford to stay out as much as he might have liked. Waking up early, staying up late; it was gradually taking its toll on him, and even though Eos has been good company, he wasn’t going to stick around so she could see him fall asleep on himself or start babbling doubts or questions that had suddenly drifted into his head.
The Dark Mirror Court was strong in its bonds; they had a leader and a purpose and he should have been proud to be serving in their name. He should have resented Eos—attacked her, if she wasn’t going to join—but she wasn’t as easy to read as he might have liked. She didn’t seem belligerent towards the Dark Mirror Court, though obviously she wasn’t captivated by their purpose. It didn’t mean there wasn’t hope, though—and there was no telling what the future might hold. Remarque just had to make sure he was there to shape it.
