Kumiko day 5
The next day they were still on the isle of Conquest. Having no classes (and no friends) Wylfenne felt sort of abandoned, and decided to go to the only place whose owner - presumably, and even if they said their good-byes already - was not annoyed at seeing them. So they rushed to they kumiko room.
Much to their disappointment, the scents were arranged by a different person today. The fae could not ask where the previous attendant was - they even didn't know his name; besides, after the under temple adventure they become far more cautious. So they listened politely to what the new attendant said about the rules of the game, and picked up their combination of bamboo squares.

The new attendant was definitely dull. Or was it that he was a dull book, as the fae couldn't read his face?

Wylfenne was disappointed. They shrugged their shoulders and left.

Day Six
After all the Amytiville students went home for the weekend, it became quieter. But Wylfenne felt forlorn - not that they missed anyone in particular, but still, the overall atmosphere of classes, anxiety, challenge and learning was gratifying and stimulating. Now they had nothing much to do. So they dragged themselves to the Kuiko room in a desperate hope for adventure, which always failed them. Besides, the old attendant was gone, the new one was always too busy t pay any attention to them.
This day - like any other day - they made a deep breathe and quickly composed the melody it dictated them. This one was more subtle and interchangeable than usual.

It was either luck or their unconscious boredom, but the combination was right. They darted a glance at the attendant to see whether he was impressed. No glimpse of emotion on a stone-carved face. Well, who cares about the attendant! After so many tries, failures and insecurity, they managed to impress themselves! Wylfenne was about to break out dancing but then thought it unworldly. They bowed curtly and left the place.
